Today’s miscellaneous political news - part 8

Well of course he did because he thinks he can get away with doing stuff like this and so far he has.

San Francisco Mayor is unhappy with the CEO of the largest employer.  His crime?  His employees now have flexible work schedule meaning they don’t come into the office much.

After I retired and before the pandemic my old employer adopted the 50/50 plan.  50% of the time you worked from home and 50% of the time you worked from an office.  There are branch offices spread about the Bay Area and you could chose which office was the closest to you to work from.  It was one of those deals where you no longer had an assigned desk things.  By doing so one could shoot a cannon ball through the San Francisco Office, which was the largest and corporate headquarters, and not hit a soul.

They adopted this plan because they understand the toll it was taking on the employees to commute.  That was why I retired because I got tired of my 2 H.R. commute each way.

So now, thanks to the pandemic, more offices are letting their employees work from home in some cases almost full time.  

And it has an impact on the businesses that relied on the office worker.

While I feel for these businesses, if I could have dumped my 4 hour commute and worked from home at least 50% of the time I would have jumped at it.

Apparently the mayor doesn’t want people to work from home.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco Mayor London Breed called out Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff In a new interview with Bloomberg.

Mayor Breed acknowledged the city's downtown area will not be the same as before the COVID-19 pandemic.

She says she's had conversations with Benioff about how his flexible work policies are impacting the city.

Salesforce is the city's largest private employer.

Mayor Breed notes Benioff's contributions to schools and other causes, but says it's a real problem the Salesforce Tower is empty.

In regards to Elon Musk, the mayor said, "The person who got a ton of tax breaks in California and decided to take that money and run."
