I've been looking for a stencil mat (large) and it seems only Waffle Flower makes one. I saw some of the presenters at Crop n Create Delivered use it - so I looked on Amazon ($29.97) even with free shipping it was expensive. Scrapbook.com ($23.99 plus shipping) was sold out. So I looked at A Cherry on Top - it was marked $24 but when I put it in my cart, the price dropped to $16! Shipping was $3.99 so I hit the buy button. It'll be here this week! I ordered and received a quad stencil set from Taylored Expressions, and am looking forward to starting my Christmas cards!

Wow what a great find. You will love it. And that stencil looks great. I have the mistletoe one.
I was able to get a silicone mat at Hobby Lobby when they had the 75%off sale. I used it this last sct event and I love it so much. Makes stenciling fun instead a pain.
I cut my paper the same size as the stencil so I was able to just use a corner to line the layers up. When you dab your brush on this mat before stenciling , when you need more ink you can just go back to the dab and pick up the ink.

I love my WF mat. I've had mine since the beginning of the year. It's stained but well loved.

I got the Waffle Flower mat for Christmas last year & I love it. You got a great deal on it! The create in quads stencils are so great - love that you get multiple cards from them. I also got the mistletoe set and made 12 cards this weekend using them.

I have been using my splat mat like thing I got for mixed media. Holding the stencil down with mint tape.
I like that this has an area the rest the paper against as well as non slick backing.

Enable me. I don't stencil much (though I have quite a collection). Why do I need a stencil mat?

I love stenciling but have never used a stencil mat, just “hinged” the top of the stencil onto my Glassboard Studio glass mat so the stencil could be flipped up and down to check how things are going, a la Tim Holtz.
I’ve been tempted by the stencil mat since I’m a bonafide tool junky, but given how easy glass is to clean, forced myself not to buy one.

It's fine, but I don't love it because it's a bit fiddly. I was enabled and bought the stencil mat. I'm hoping I like it more than the DIY "hinge" method.

I watched the short video on WF, like fun tools enough that I have FOMO, but will resist. The hinge is just one piece of yellow Frog Tape (least sticky) at the top, so very simple. And sometimes the CS or watercolor paper is taped on all sides to prevent warping or to make a border, so the corners wouldn’t help.

Well, my stencil mat was supposed to come tomorrow but it came yesterday! Fast shipping from ACOT! I love it! I made a quad set of cards using the stencil mat - it was so easy. However, I purchased kraft paper for making those cards (from Taylored Expressions), not knowing that the paper was a little smaller than traditional 8 1/2 x 11 paper. The kraft paper measures 8 x 10 1/2, which means you don't have to trim 1/4 inch off each side after you finish stenciling. BUT... when you line that paper up under the stencil - you have to be sure to line it up with the interior line on the stencil, not the outside edges, so it's centered correctly. I think once I'm done with that paper I won't buy it anymore, I'll just use regular 8 1/2 x 11 paper and trim the edges. I actually taped the paper to the mat, and just put the stencil in the corner each time so they all lined up. Once I get the cards done I'll post another photo! I'm working on the sentiments now, trying to use foil and adhesive paper, since I don't have a foil machine.

Enable me. I don't stencil much (though I have quite a collection). Why do I need a stencil mat? You definitely don't need one! But it helps to prevent the paper shifting around while you stencil or ink blend. I've seen people use them for ink blending die cuts too - stuff that would be too small to hold down easily while you blend onto it. (You could use some kind of temporary tape to hold the little pieces down while blending but using the silicone mat is perhaps easier, especially if you're just adding a little color to the edges of lots of pieces.) I've seen quite a few crafters use them - working on a silicone surface is nice, easy to clean too. If you don't need the corner to butt your paper up against there are plenty of cheap ones around that are just flat silicone mats.

The cards are lovely! did you find the mat helpful? Yes! Definitely. Since paper seems to "stick" to the silicone, it will be helpful for other things too!

I saw someone using the mat in a video today, pressing their ink pad direct to paper on die cuts today to color them.

I'm having fun using this mat and these stencils! Thanks to MichyM who sent me the "Merry & Bright" die! Kinda wondering what other color combinations would look good with this?

I used Distress Oxides - Bundled Sage, Rustic Wilderness and Barn Door. On the single tree on the bottom right, I used Rustic Wilderness with the first stencil (tree) and then for the second stencil (boughs), I used Rustic Wilderness again. When you go over them again with a different stencil, they are darker.
For the snow, I used a white ink (Hero Arts Unicorn White), and then used transparent texture paste to make them stand out.
