I remember when your DH was offered his dream opportunity. I can't believe it's been 3 years.

Sounds like a vacation of a lifetime.. Welcome back to the States.. It seems just like yesterday you were moving there! lol.. Why I remember that I have no idea. haha
My son's outprocessing seemed to be a nightmare and it was just him and a few things. I can't imagine what an entire household would be like. He too left from Ramstein.

I also remember when you were leaving for Belgium and can't believe it's been 3 years already.
Welcome back to the States!
Last time I came back from Germany I too had a tiny bit of culture shock and I'd been there only 3 weeks! The thing that hit me was the noise level of Americans vs. Europeans in public. DS picked me up at Dulles airport and I was starving after flying for 8 hours, so he chose a restaurant in Annapolis for us to have dinner. When we walked in the door the noise level that hit me (it was super crowded) almost made me run out the door, but DS really wanted to eat there. I remember being in bathroom thinking "I want to go back to Germany!" where instead of that deafening noise level during dinner I'd hear cathedral bells ringing (at least at my favorite restaurant in Regensburg). I got back to the table and we decided to eat somewhere else.
I loved hearing about you vacation to England and especially Scotland. I've been to England but not London. Seems very odd, doesn't it? I was visiting a pen-pal who lived in Birmingham and she told me that she could take me to London to see the sights or she could take me where she loved to go which was North Wales. We went to North Wales and it was just beautiful. London, Scotland and Ireland are on my list of places to visit.

Welcome home! Congratulations to your family on your husband's retirement. Don't get used to this fabulous weather we are having in MN. It is a trick. This is not San Diego! Haha.

Welcome home!! My DH used to do a lot of work in Belgium, he was there for 2 years traveling back and forth and worked with some people at NATO. We should have moved there, he loved the country. I hope you get settled back in soon. And I’m glad you got to lay eyes on your kids. It must be a great feeling to be in the same place so to speak.

Congratulations on your retirement! I remember how weird it was moving back to the states and I would walk into the grocery store at 6 AM and see so much food I couldn’t even imagine. It didn’t get tiring for years. I hope you find where you need to live and a great place to be. Like you, my goal is to live on a lake😊
