I’m sure we’ve had a thread or two on this but I’m not in the mood to search. 😆
I need to do some serious clear stamp purging. I’m not sure if I should try to sell them or just donate them.
If you’ve purged, how did you do it? If you sold, where did you sell? If you’ve donated, where did you donate? All ideas welcome.

You'll be sorry. Find a box to put them in. Buy some parchment paper. Using a school binder with white paper and make a catalog of the stamps. layer them in the box with the parchment paper between the layers. Number each layer and sync your stamps by number to each layer. Now you have the stamp you are really going to need someday, and you will know exactly where to find it. All you will need is to remember where you put that box. You can thank me any time.

Haha, Don is right! I did a big purge. I pulled close to 100 stamp, dies, stencils, etc out of my stash. I've been back in that box twice now. One stamp I bought years ago for $0.99 at TM. Not sure why I even bought it. Someone asked me to do custom party favors. That was the perfect stamp.

If you prefer to donate, & encourage others' creativity while simultaneously reclaiming your craft storage space, consider the following (note restrictions on the types of supplies accepted may apply; you may also be able to report on taxes if you itemize):

I’ve had good luck selling in FB crafting de-stash groups. There are quite a few of them!

I have a "time will tell" box that holds some stamps and dies I'm planning to declutter (time will tell, AKA a quarantine bin, testing whether I'm ready to let them go). I've pulled out stamps that make me feel disappointed or frustrated, stamps that I see and wonder why I thought they were my style, things I bought for a specific idea that didn't work out...
I have gone into that box a couple of times to grab items to use, but I also know that if I didn't have them I could've used something different and still made good cards. I would not chose to re-buy these stamps, I only used them because they were sitting there and they were good enough.
I'm going to offer them cheap to a friend who is new to crafting and then post what's leftover in my Etsy shop and/or on the FSOT board here. Otherwise I'll donate them to my local St Vinnie's because they have a decent craft section or give them away here or in my local Buy Nothing group.
Whether they're worth selling is going to depend on what you have. I think there's some that are worth the effort but with shipping costs as high as they are it might be harder to get a decent price. Selling can be a lot of work so if you can find a place to donate them that you feel good about it can be a lot easier. And if you start having regrets in the future you can remind yourself that you helped someone with that donation.

My craft room/office is a spare bedroom. It’s pretty packed with craft stuff. I did a bit of organizing and got a wild hair and pulled everything out of the closet. 🤦🏼♀️
The good news is that while I did not get my stamps purged, I did end up with a HUGE amount of craft supplies to take to the Ronald McDonald house. I also have an even bigger pile to take to the Goodwill.
And I was able to make better room for my existing stamps and dies.
I was also able to unmount my Stampin Up background stamps in about 5 minutes and I’ll actually use them now! Now to unmount the other 50 sets. 😂
I also found 2 Sizzix Bigshots, a Gemini Jr and a Spellbinder Prism. I’ve got enough die cutting machines to last a lifetime!

I recently did a purge of my stamps. I found several that I knew I would never use (not my style or I had used them and was fine not ever using them again). I contacted our city Senior Center and they were happy to have them. I have tried selling stamps in the past and had varying success. This time I decided not to mess with selling & just wanted to get them out of my house

I am a scrapbooker and a card maker. I recently went through all of my stamps and counted how many I own, before my purge. The final number was 1290! I almost fainted, I do need to purge as some styles have lost my interest over time.

When you purge, you will never recover the money you spent on the stamps. You might get a little back if you sell them, but probably not much. If I want something out of my house, I give it away.
Having said that, however, I am more in line with Don’s way of thinking, except that mine are all very well organized, accessible, and quick/easy to find, in spite of my huge collection. Organizing them well has made it so much easier to find what I want. I definitely use them a lot more than I used to do.
Also, having a stamp platform was a game changer for me. It has helped me to use my stamps more, too. Someday I will give a bunch of them away, but not yet.

Everyone is here is right. If there are some you're on the fence about, keep them somewhere till you're sure. All Christmas and Thanksgiving stamps are selling well right now... I've sold a bunch on eBay and right now the main ones that are selling are anything AE, TH, or anything current holiday themed. I'd just posted this on another thread but today I sold an AE stamp for $.99 (it was pretty yellowed) and an old TH Christmas stamp for $20. bids started at $.99 So its hit and miss. Most people who arent crafters dont understand the difference between high quality and low quality stuff. Donate any low quality stuff and make some grab bags with the good stuff. Post them here or on FB groups, like said above there are some good ones.
