So he doesn’t want to testify because he thinks by not doing so it will help him win votes from those who think what happened on January 6 was no big deal when he runs for president.

He may be in for a surprise. I'm in doubt that he's made whatever deal with the devil keeps TFG from ever facing consequences. He's sure sounding like the same kind of spoiled brat, but that doesn't keep him from having to do as the law requires (granted, a site rarely seen in the past few years). I can't figure out what mix of hubris and delusion makes him think anybody is interested in his being president---or interested in him, generally.

Yeah, that's why I call him "Gym" Jordan. An adult who can overlook that behavior can't be trusted to do the right thing in any context. Some responses are not appropriate..(let me find the right one)

Fani Willis is hitting some road blocks getting info from GA fake electors.. funny they all have the same lawyers... CNN reported Wednesday that Willis is considering offering immunity to the fake electors who could garner state charges along with federal ones. The Justice Department is currently doing its own investigation into the fake electors' scheme in which Republicans participated after the 2020 election votes. The effort was coordinated by the national Trump campaign according to emails obtained by the probes. Out of the 16 fake GOP electors at least 12 have been subpoenaed by the DA's office and they have all been labeled targets who could be indicted. But that tactic appears to have undermined her ability to obtain potentially crucial testimony from the exact people who could provide inside accounts of the operation to overturn the election in Georgia, including what if any role the former president played," said the report. "Willis has recently attempted to lower the temperature by floating the possibility of immunity for some of the electors if they agree to appear before the grand jury, according to people familiar with the matter." That said, there has been little success, the report explained. Previously, Willis was able to get plenty of cooperation from witnesses, obtaining testimony from at least one of the members of the 16 electors, Ken Carroll, who confirmed he testified to the special grand jury. The electors have all hired the same group of attorneys and they're all refusing to answer questions under their Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. Willis has tried to have the lawyers disqualified from working for all of the electors, saying there are "serious ethical problems." www.rawstory.com/fake-electors-immunity-deal/

So the Republicans have a slight majority in the House. I can see the title of my next thread now. “How the Republicans are creating chaos in the House” and leading the way will be that guy who knew and did nothing.

It’s a mystery why the voters keep rewarding the bad behavior of Republicans by continuing to vote for them. I have to wonder how they are raising their children. It seems to me instead getting all worked up about what they think is being taught in school is bad for their kids they should take a real hard look at what they themselves are teaching their kids.

I knew that this was coming, but still…For those who voted R in House races, congrats. They plan on a series of investigations. 🙄 Hunter Biden? Again? This is from CNN. It is an opinion piece, but this has been reported everywhere. “Investigations: House Republicans plan to launch a flurry of investigations to keep allegations of scandal front and center over the next two years, which will make it difficult for Biden to focus attention on the policy issues that matter to his administration. Republicans already have laid the groundwork for hearings into Hunter Biden and his business deals, hoping to use the President’s son as a mechanism to tarnish the administration’s image. Just as Republicans, as House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy once admitted, used the Benghazi hearings to damage Hillary Clinton’s national standing, Republicans will seek to do the same with Biden’s son, promoting a narrative of corruption that they believe would be effective in 2024. Federal prosecutors believe they could charge Hunter Biden with tax crimes and a false statement, but the US attorney in Delaware hasn’t made a final decision, CNN reported last month, citing sources familiar with the matter. The younger Biden has not been charged with any crime and has denied any wrongdoing in his business activities.” The good news is that an organization is hitting the ground to pull back the curtains on these investigations. Yep, the Congressional Integrity Project. See what you think. Can’t wait to watch Gym Jordan on a committee. What a clown. www.politico.com/news/2022/11/16/democratic-strategists-launch-war-room-00065498Here is a bit of it: “ The newly relaunched Congressional Integrity Project initiative, details of which were shared first with POLITICO, will include rapid response teams, investigative researchers, pollsters and eventually a paid media campaign to put congressional Republicans “squarely on the defense,” founder Kyle Herrig said in an interview. It’s designed to serve as the party’s “leading war room” to push back on House Republican investigations, Herrig said in an interview. He added that the project would “investigate the investigators, expose their political motivations and the monied special interests supporting their work, and hold them accountable for ignoring the urgent priorities of all Americans in order to smear Joe Biden and do the political bidding of Trump and MAGA Republicans.” That cheered me up.

I thought this was a really interesting opinion on why Democrats lost seats in the House in NY. (Hint - it's not stupid voters) Some are specific to NY - like the gerrymandering of districts that was challenged in courts. Others, like the Democrats ignoring concerns about crime, are a national trend. www.nytimes.com/2022/11/16/opinion/house-democrats-new-york.htmlAnother opinion on how the 2022 election was a re-run of the 2020 election and the dangers of misinterpreting what the voters want. I don't agree with all of it, but the author has a valid point that the 2024 Senate races will be even more challenging for Democrats than 2022 with 23 seats to defend, including uphill battles in Montana and Ohio. Democrats would benefit from an honest evaluation of what they did well in 2022 and what needs improvement. www.nytimes.com/2022/11/17/opinion/democrats-midterms.html

I get why some people want someone who is seen as a “politician “ to run for public office.
But if you put aside the fact trump did not have the character or temperament to be president he still had a reason for him not to be elected and that was his business that included a lot of foreign investments. Which could leave a sitting president open to blackmail from these Foreign interests to make decisions that would benefit them in some way.
He should have been made to do what Jimmy Carter did and sell his business. But instead he was allowed to supposedly turn the business over to his sons.
Now trump has announced he is running for president at the same time his company announced a major business deal was signed with Saudi Arabia.

Some columnist in the Washington Post wrote a piece that the Democrats also had a candidate problem.
In this case he was talking about a House race in Oregon. The seat had been held by a Democrat. In the primary he lost to a progressive supported by Elizabeth Warren. This candidate lost to a Republican in the general so the seat was flipped from Democrat to Republican.
There is no way in hell one can compare this candidate or any of the Democratic candidates to that crop of misfits the Republicans seem keen on electing.
But it is a problem for the Democrats in that not all voters are going to buy what progressive are selling and to win races we need all Democrats as well as independents and maybe some Republicans to vote for our candidates.
So Democrats need to start paying more attention to their district and put up candidates that can win, not just the primary but the general election as well. Candidates that won’t make Democratic voters stay home.

Katie Hobbs is the Fox in her opnion. She believes that Hobbs was "overseeing" her own election and insinuating that Hobbs "found" votes for herself.
