The “different point of view:”
JFC. Btw, this didn’t happen in Austin; it happened in Pflugerville, a small town near Austin. I’m so curious to find out if this man is a long-time teacher, a sub, or a warm body they hired due to shortages.

You have no idea how happy I was to see this news. Frankly I thought that the old person was Democratic because she hated Trump and voted for his impeachment, I had totally forgotten she was a Republican. That is huge in this area. Where I live is half and half, but the outlying areas are very Trumpy, so I was super worried. So glad it came out the way it did. You havw

I’m watching Captain America the First Avenger and this popped up on my twitter feed.
I still think this guy would have made a more convincing Red Skull then the actor that had the part. It’s like he was born for the part.

Here may be our next issue. Big IF he should be elected as speaker would he fall within the line of presidential succession? If so Biden and Harris will never be near each other again. He and/or his would have no issues disposing of them both at the same time! As a survivor either Biden or Harris could immediately appoint a new VP... Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), a House Jan. 6 Committee member, said that "political contamination" by former President Donald Trump will result in at least 155 deniers of the 2020 election results serving in Congress next year. (Me: Senate eight) *** There are certain pro-Trumpists within his House caucus who refuse to accept that he's really with Trump," the Democratic lawmaker said. "And they want to get rid of McCarthy."The congressman predicted that some of his Republican colleagues "might just vote for Trump" to become Speaker of the House."The Speaker of the House does not have to be a member of the House," he explained. "They talk about it repeatedly and if Trump decided he wanted to do it, it would propose a profound problem for their party because they refuse to do the right thing early on." www.rawstory.com/jamie-raskin-trump-contamination/

Oh crap the other big issue... We definitely need Warnock!!!
Senate seats are for 6 years. If a senator becomes incapacitated or dies, S/he has to be replaced. Not sure if all states, but often appointed by the governor. One of the reasons Elizabeth Warren did not take a cabinet seat, the Mass gov was a republican. That could be the situation in other states until an election is held!!

Yep, Kent was the Trump backed House candidate here who lost. Not sure if he bothered to back Smiley (who lost to a Democrat) or not, but he definitely endorsed Kent, and that was a flip from R to D. You are correct in saying most of the people endorsed by Trump won were going to win anyway. They are in deeply red areas, which is probably why he endorsed them, so he could take credit. I betting he didn't end up endorsing Smiley because it was not likely she was going to win. I am interested in how the Trump fanatics on this board are spinning the news to suit their narrative. Kind of hard to deny actual numbers, but I am sure one of them will be along shortly to tell us exactly how Trump won the night despite losing the Senate and barely winning the House.

Not political.
This is the 49ers newest player. I think he’s a wide receiver. In the last game they played two weeks ago he threw the ball for a touchdown’ ran for a touchdown and caught a football in the end zone for a touchdown.
Here he is casually catching a football one handed on both his left and right side.
Steph Curry is another one who is so casual in how he can make a basketball do just about anything.
I like watching the skill these guys have with the balls. And I’m sure a lot of professionals have the same or almost the same skills as these two.
But they are on my teams so I notice them more.

I think we already knew this, at least about Comey. Maybe the part about revoking security clearances in revenge is new? Just add it to the ever growing list of why he's unfit for office. www.nytimes.com/2022/11/13/us/politics/trump-irs-investigations.htmlTrump Wanted I.R.S. Investigations of Foes, Top Aide Says John F. Kelly, who was White House chief of staff, said that as president, Donald J. Trump wanted investigations into perceived enemies like James Comey, the former F.B.I. director.
Mr. Kelly, who was chief of staff from July 2017 through the end of 2018, said in response to questions from The New York Times that Mr. Trump’s demands were part of a broader pattern of him trying to use the Justice Department and his authority as president against people who had been critical of him, including seeking to revoke the security clearances of former top intelligence officials.
Mr. Kelly said that along with Mr. Comey and Mr. McCabe, Mr. Trump discussed using the I.R.S. and the Justice Department to investigate the former C.I.A. director John O. Brennan; Hillary Clinton; Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon and the owner of The Washington Post, whose coverage often angered Mr. Trump; Peter Strzok, the lead F.B.I. agent on the Russia investigation; and Lisa Page, an F.B.I. official who exchanged text messages with Mr. Strzok that were critical of Mr. Trump.
But in response to repeated questions over months, Mr. Kelly said he chose to respond now because Mr. Trump had publicly claimed last week that he had used the Justice Department and the F.B.I. to help Gov. Ron DeSantis win election in Florida in 2018. Mr. Kelly, who was Mr. Trump’s chief of staff at the time, said Mr. Trump never made such a request. If he had, Mr. Kelly said, it would have been an improper use of the Justice Department and the F.B.I.
Mr. Kelly’s statements are among the most damning from a former high-ranking official about Mr. Trump’s efforts to use federal power to his own ends, and come just days before Mr. Trump is scheduled to announce another presidential campaign.
His account of some of Mr. Trump’s requests, including his effort to use the Justice Department against his enemies and to remove security clearances for former officials, has been corroborated by other public disclosures and former Trump aides.
Among other steps sought by Mr. Trump, Mr. Kelly said, was the revocation of security clearances for officials from the George W. Bush and Obama administrations who had gone on to be critical of Mr. Trump on television. Among them were Mr. Brennan; James R. Clapper Jr., the former director of national intelligence; Michael Hayden, the former director of the C.I.A. and the National Security Agency; and the retired Adm. William H. McRaven, the former head of the Special Operations Command.
“I don’t want them making money,” Mr. Kelly said Mr. Trump told him.
Mr. Kelly said that during his tenure, the officials’ security clearances remained intact.
In refuting the claim by Mr. Trump that he had used the Justice Department and the F.B.I. to help Mr. DeSantis when he faced a potential recount in 2018, Mr. Kelly said no such request had been made to the Justice Department or the F.B.I. In fact, Mr. Kelly said, Mr. Trump was growing increasingly disillusioned with Mr. DeSantis at the time. That fall, Mr. DeSantis had distanced himself from Mr. Trump’s public claim that Democrats inflated the death toll in Puerto Rico from Hurricane Maria.
“He was insufficiently impressed with DeSantis’s loyalty to him,” Mr. Kelly said.

What amazes me about Grassley is that at 89 he was just re-elected for another 6 year term.
Diane Feinstein is not up for election until 2024 so I’m hoping she will resign soon and let Gavin Newsom pick someone to complete her term.

So far, Trump has backed 174 winning candidates with other races still undecided. The House is in the hands of the Republicans. Bye Bye Pelosi. Control of the Senate is still to be determined. Way to go Democrats! You sure showed Trump. New York Post, the least-credible major news source in NYC, according to many New Yorkers. But what's a little bias amongst friends? It's all good here. Just another note on Trump endorsements in the House www.npr.org/2022/11/09/1135690671/house-senate-republican-democrat-midterm-election-resultsOf the three dozen races rated as toss up by the Cook Political Report, Trump endorsed five — and all lost.
Democrats picked up a seat in the 3rd congressional district in Washington state, a district that had been held by a Republican, Jamie Herrera Beutler. But she voted for former President Trump's impeachment and was ousted by the right in the primary.
There's an irony in the fact that she was ousted because she voted to impeach Trump and, now, a Democrat has taken over that seat. It's indicative of the broader message in this election.

Problem with dumpster don claiming mail-in ballots can’t be trusted because there will be massive cheating is several states have been doing mail in ballots , and not just absentee, for years and no cheating has been found.
This person may have a point about trump and what he was expecting before his big announcement.

I’m thinking that if more of the Gen Z crowd had turned out to vote rather then the 27% that did then maybe this could have happened. I mean it’s the Gen Z crowd that will be affected more by the overturning of Roe v Wade then this boomer who did turn up and voted for the Democrats.

The same argument could be made for almost every demographic group. There's an almost infinite number of what ifs. What if Democrats turned out the vote/ persuaded more Latinos, blacks, suburban voters, while rural voters etc ? What if Democrats elected more moderates instead of progressives in primaries? I think you need to look more closely at the toss up races, including those in California, that elected Republicans. Or areas where seats were flipped. And consider that in red states, districts were gerrymandered to favor Republicans. DeSantis in Florida interfered with the redistricting and forced the legislature to adopt his plan. And the Alabama Republicans and courts eliminated a majority minority district in Alabama. Trump's administration most likely manipulated the census by scaring away undocumented immigrants, at a minimum. The shifting of districts as a result of the census mostly favored Republicans. In Florida, DeSantis intimidated voters with his fraud squad and arrests. Young voters tend to vote for Democrats, but not exclusively. Some showed up and voted for Republicans. My son attends a maritime college, many of the students there are conservative. Many young adults in the military or in rural areas are also conservative. It's not as simple as blame the young voters. Even if the Democrats held on to a majority in the House, they still need 1. Either 60 senators willing to vote to protect abortion rights or 2. 50 Democratic senators willing to blow up the filibuster Then, any bill would certainly be challenged in courts. Lower courts and possibly the Supreme Court could easily overturn it. Blaming young voters for not being able to codify abortion rights is overly simplistic. www.nytimes.com/2022/11/12/us/young-voter-turnout-election-democrats.htmlAnd no single demographic group determined the results. Early voting data also showed that Asian American voters, while a smaller group, voted in higher numbers and were more reliably Democratic than in the last midterm.
