Jeepers. I was adding up my points for spending for the challenges this quarter - I've spent over $500 so far since October 1 and it ain't even Black Friday yet! I usually rein in my spending most of the year, but dang... at the end of the year I seem to let loose! Take my money! LOL Recent purchases - Crop & Create March cardmaking event, 3 Gina K Designs master layout die sets. I'm itching to get the new Distress Oxide but haven't yet. What else is out there that I NEED? I've got a new paper cutter on my Amazon wish list, but that's all. My family isn't good at buying me scrapbook/card supplies unless I give them a specific list and where to buy. Are you spending too? Come sit in the doghouse with me.

Right there with you! I made a deal with my husband that I wouldn't do any spending till January (except for the C&C March event) so I could buy a Spellbinders Advent calendar. Since then I've managed to spend over $200, not counting C&C! And I'm going to add another hundred to Taylored Expressions today. Then I'm DONE!!!! (Yeah, right! He knew that was going to happen, but he is enjoying teasing me about it!)

I missed out on the Spellbinders one and hope to catch this one. Depends on how much it is...

I went back and forth with Spellbinders and TE Advent calendars. I watched videos from last year's TE calendar and a number of the days were stickers, sticky notes, and other things I wasn't too keen on, especially if the price is around $80, which it might be. So, I went with Spellbinders.
I'm picking up some old stuff from TE. I want to make a batch of cards for the local school, but reality is telling me it ain't happening for Christmas or Thanksgiving! I saw an older Quads stencil with hearts and I'm going to get it now and get started on a big batch of Valentine's cards. I just might get them done by then if I start now!
The rest is basics: the cleaning cloth, a small acrylic block, (gave mine to my daughter-in-law and realized I do need it!) a set of the small blender brushes (I'm doing more detail work than I thought I would) a jar of gold glitter medium, and a few large ink pads. After much going back and forth, I've decided her inks are the best for me for stenciling, so I'm building up my collection.
Nothing too exciting, but I am loving doing this stenciling!

Oh my, 500$ is close to my yearly budget! I'm mostly done for the year? Dropped ~150$ on AliEx for the 11.11 sale, but I did get a lot of things. New T-Ruler, magnetic sheets, blending brushes, and over 50 sets of dies. Christmas present to myself!

Oh I’m right there with you. I just paid for the Pink Fresh event, crop & create event, 5 AE orders and a few plus orders I placed during the Oct crop and create.
I haven’t even gotten thru Black Friday yet! I really want to get the Gina K master layout 11 set too. I could get it way cheaper from AE but I’m positive they will have an outer cutting edge where Gina’s die only cuts the 4 windows. Oh and I want the Concord & 9th plaid turnabout stamp set too.

TE has a week of sales before Black Friday. I think they do different types of items on different days. Just putting that out there for people who might be planning to buy things from them. One of my friends let me know.
Some of the sets and bundles (from various companies) are just so expensive these days, it's easy to spend a lot. I have a gift card to TE but I have twice as much on my wishlist as the gift card is for, and I also have wishlists at a couple of other companies, but I just can't bring myself to spend so much right now when I have so little time to use it.

For most companies, I am more likely to buy if I have had my eye on something, and then a sale occurs. I bought some dies from My Favorite Things not too long ago.
However, the company where I have little resistance is Queen & Co. I have no affiliation with them, but I do love their stitched dies, especially their Foundation dies. I use them mostly for card making, but they can also be used for scrapbooking. I also love their shaker kits. I don’t make shakers that much, but they just have really cute stuff, and you can use a shaker set without making it a shaker. I have learned that if you don’t buy their new kits when first released, sometimes they sell out before I decide I really do want it. Sometimes I have ended up waiting a long time before they get them in again. If I’m not sure that I will use a new release, I’m more willing to wait. More recently, though, they’ve had a lot of really great releases. Their Christmas baking shaker set is absolutely adorable. I was stalking the mail carrier for that one. In a way, they are my equivalent of a monthly subscription, except that I only order a kit if I really like it.
I used to spend a lot of money at Tuesday Morning. I used to buy a lot from Close to My Heart and Stampin’ Up. I almost never buy from any of those three now. I have bought a fair amount from My Favorite Things, but now it’s only occasionally. I used to have a Spellbinders subscription, but I don’t use my Spellbinder dies as often as I do my Q&Co. dies. At least now what I am buying is more likely to actually be used.

I feel your pain. I am on a spending freeze through the end of the year (at least), but if I can find a BF sale on a glimmer I may succumb. That said, between signing up for Crop and Create, and Create and Connect, I’ve done a lot of damage this month.
I’ve had over 8k in vet bills since early August. I’m trying to “pay myself back” and this hobby is not helping. At all 🙄

2022 was the year I spent the least on crafting supplies. Ever! Like by half. And that includes all crafts, not just stamping.
But I did spend way more on classes. C&C and Let's Stamp Together from SCT. Then a few of Jenn Shurkus classes. Online Card Classes. And some other random classes. I really like classes that I can use products I already own.

I've spent way too much this entire year, after putting myself on a freeze in January - that didn't happen! Just recently I signed up for both Crop and Create Spring events, the PinkFresh card one, and I bought the Tim Holtz Halloween stuff in early October but it just arrived at my house on Friday (apparently alcohol inks can't cross the border).
FYI regarding the TE Advent Calendar - I bought it last year and was super disappointed. It was a lot of stickers, a pin, post-its, coupons, a tiny jar of blue glitter, a tiny jar of white EP, a teeny tiny snowflake stamp with a teeny die to cut it out (that was 2 separate days), a tiny pencil (like a golf pencil) and a few other things. Honestly, none of it was really usable. Oh, and a tiny glass bottle of blue stamp cleaner or something (that I dropped and got all over my floor - my fault!) - but it seemed to be the same liquid as the blue oil you get for waxing your eyebrows, etc, to get the excess wax off. So, I'm not exactly sure what that was for.
I love TE and hate that I hated the calendar. It was more expensive than the Spellbinders one (which I ordered for myself for this year). I think I paid $79 for TE and $49 for SB. Hopefully this year's TE calendar is better, I'm not sure what kind of feedback she got on it but the FB group was very fangirly.

On the other hand, then there’s the whole buying (and clearly have close to no self-restraint when it comes to crafting supplies) and storing plates thing…. Thats funny that you have some plates already. I’m kinda thinking that that could be a subliminal message, KWIM?

After being introduced to their tiny dies at C&C, I’m no longer intimidated by them. But I do know that I have to be in the right mood to use them!

Oh interesting, I didn't see the post in the C&C group. It makes sense that the buyers would feel free to be more critical on that FB page rather than on TE's own FB page. I bought the Spellbinder's one, as well. I'm really excited because I just know the projects made with them will be fantastic - Spellbinders has such a good design team, especially Yana Smakula who is one of my favourite card makers ever. Zsoka Marko is also amazing. I have a feeling the inspiration alone will be worth the price of the calendar.

Thanks for the feedback on the TE Advent calendar. I was hoping it would be phenomenal but now I’m hesitant to buy, especially if it’s that much money.
What to do?

Ugh same here! I bought the Pinkfresh event for Feb, spent about $125 at Taylored Expressions last month (and now I see she is having some great sales coming up!), placed a $35+ order on AliExpress and placed a $50+ order on HSN for replacement double sided cutting plates for my full size Gemini. Oh and I also just bought over $100 in Christmas stamps (also the Peanuts stamps which I love)...
I did just make a wish list on scrapbook.com that I can send to my husband for Christmas gifts even though I'm tempted to just buy all the stuff now!
I need to slow down!! On the plus side I made about 25 Thanksgiving cards to send to family & friends and am making a ton of Christmas cards which is fun!

MDscrapaholic - I know the Spellbinders Advent calendar is sold out, but have you looked at the Crafters Companion calendar? I saw it after I ordered the Spellbinders one, or I might have gotten the CC one instead! I think it's still for sale on HSN.
Edited to add - and I think the price of the CC will be cheaper than the TE one.

I have tried to stay frozen . . . unsuccessfully as well! Joining you in the doghouse. Best way to stay on a budget? Unsubscribe from all the sales emails! Although Black Friday sales last year weren't that fabulous. I wonder if this year will be better? My latest purchase was HOTP, deckled shapes, hearts, stars, stitched hearts. All things that are quicker and easier to die cut with my Gemini than design and set up on my Brother Scan N Cut!

The dog house is getting crowded. I have spent a *lot* this year. I'm trying to stop for a while, yet as I say that, I have two unfulfilled virtual shopping carts out there with over $300 each in them. No, I am not going to get them. I am not going to get them. I am not going to get them. I am not going to get them.

Well, I passed on the TE Advent Calendar. She did not show us what was in any of the envelopes (I thought she might show us ONE, but no). For $80 bucks I figure I can get something I WANT and will USE, rather that 25 little things that I MIGHT use.
The fun of an Advent Calendar - I will miss that. Enjoy those Spellbinders calendars! We need to start a thread where you show us what you got every day!

It's a pity AliEx doesn't offer a crafty advent calendar because they'd make an absolute killing. They do have 'lucky bags' or random assortments, but they won't come blind. I suppose you could get a friend or relative to stick them in numbered envelopes for you.
Randomness doesn't appeal to me enough to purchase one of these. I'm too picky about what I put in my collection, and highly suspect I'd be disappointed.

I saw last year on IG a few of the TE envelopes opened and 1 was an enamel pin, small snowflake stamp one day than coordinating die next day. I was not impressed what I saw , but didn't see them all and I couldn't even find a post where they showed all the goods. For that kind of money I hope that they got some better stuff closer to Christmas.

I looked at the unboxing (unbagging?) videos for last year's Taylored Expressions advent calendar and was supremely unimpressed.
Day 1 - enamel pin Day 2 - vinyl sticker Day 3 - bag of sequins/beads Day 4 - rubber snowflake stamp (~2" size) Day 5 - metal outline die coordinating with stamp above Day 6 - ten 'spinner' disks and a small circle die Day 7 - 80 adhesive foam dots Day 8 - four sentiment acrylic stamps, winter themed Day 9 - white pearl embossing powder Day 10 - four envelope seal stickers Day 11 - post it notes Day 12 - a golf-sized pencil Day 13 - stencil coupon (so, additional purchase required/shipping? unsure) Day 14 - about two dozen tiny laser cut wooden stars Day 15 - four watercolor paper ATC's with pre-printed designs Day 16 - teal glitter paste Day 17 - two very small circular stencils that coordinate with stencil masks (not included of course)
I didn't see a video for anything past that, but given the extremely high cost of this calendar the last few days would have to be superlative to make up the value.

I found a lady who unboxed this years CC advent calendar and the Spellbinders advent calendar. They are both look good , but I love the Spellbinder one the best. Its not Christmasy at all, the CC has a lot of Christmas images. Next year I will get the Spellbinder one if they offer it again. CC youtu.be/NnJo_npv6H8Spellbinder youtu.be/WsyU5iEhK18
