I was going to recommend Hokas! They really are the best. I have problems with my feet and have tried everything. Don’t let the price scare you off. Also, do not walk barefoot when you are at home. Wear an orthopedic slipper. I love my Vionics!

I actually just saw a podiatrist today. She recommended that I try OTC insoles to see if I like them or not before getting custom orthotics. She recommended Super Feet, power step pillow top, and Don Joy (for high arches since that is what I have). i will look into those. Thank you

Glad you're getting the Hokas. I resisted them for a long time because of the cost, but they've been worth every penny. I see a huge different in my body (energy levels, joint pain/lack of pain) after a day of teaching in Hokas vs. any other shoes I have. I bought a second pair immediately after the first one. I do have a pair of Oofos flip flops for around the house as well, and they're great. I just can't wear them to work. In addition to the good shoes, make sure you are getting in some deep stretching/yoga at the end of the day. Doesn't have to be anything fancy or difficult. There are a million short videos on YouTube. Keeping your hips, lower back, and hamstrings loose and flexible goes a long way towards relieving foot, ankle, and knee fatigue as well. the price did make me catch my breath, but if they work it's worth it. Maybe next month I'll try the oofos for the house. Just couldn't spend that much on myself in one sitting. Lol

I'm on my feet on concrete 8 hours a day. I have purchased 4 new pairs of work shoes and nothings helps. When i get home and take them off it hurts to walk on the floor. Can anyone suggest a really comfortable, soft, soothing pair of shoes for around the house. I really just want to cry right now. Tia. ** edited to add I ordered the Hoka. Darn they are$$$. But if my feet and legs so hurting they will be worth it. Thanks. Just saw that you went with the Hokas... I don't think you'll be sorry! Yes, the price is high, but it's worth it especially for someone like you who's on her feet all day, on concrete.

I’ve found that, even MORE important than the quality of the shoe, my feet will be angry if I wear the same shoe every day. Having a variety of shoes, with a variety of foot bed styles has been the game changer.

FWIW, I don’t wear my oofos slides to work, but I now own 4 different pairs of these and wear them most days: www.oofos.com/products/womens-oomg-eezee-low-shoe-mauve?variant=40011096588403My kids love my white cheetah and my black cheetah pairs most of all. 🥰 i ordered this pair for home. Thanks for the suggestion

Skechers have saved my feet. They used to hurt so bad.
They even have some 'work' styles.
I do find that switching shoes helps too. Not wearing the same pair all the time.

Crocs. Except for a few pairs of boots, Crocs are about all I own anymore. Flip flops, sandals, wedge heels, original Crocs. Love every pair I have. They are relatively cheap, and I find they are the best shoes I own for walking on hard surfaces, and virtually everywhere else.

That's so frustrating to be in pain all day. I have bunions, so shoes are always uncomfortable for me. I wear flip flops as much as I can, unless there is snow on the ground. I only own several pairs of flip flop/sandals, 2 pairs of tennis shoes and no dress shoes. I never want to go somewhere that you have to dress nice because I can't wear nice looking shoes!

I find that different shoes bother different joints/ligaments/etc. So wearing the same pair every day just irritates the same spots every day, until it becomes inflamed and turns into an injury.

Lol I bought Oofos, Hokas, Birkenstocks and Vionic slippers last year after asking here and other social media posts about foot pain/plantar fasciitis. I will say that I work my Birks for most of the last two summers and Vionic slippers I wear all the time at home. I originally thought I would wear the Oofos at home instead of slippers but the ones I have are just not that comfortable like that and don't work well with socks. I think they have some that are more like shoes instead of slides (I have the slides as well as the flip flop version). So I would definitely recommend looking at the styles carefully to make sure they fit your needs before buying. I actually find that the shoes that lead to the least amount of pain at the end of the day are my Sorel's. I have a few different styles.

Plantar fasciitis was making my job (nurse) completely miserable. I limped out to my car every morning and couldn't even enjoy my walks with the dog anymore until I found something that worked. I'm back to jogging and while my feet aren't perfect, I'm no longer in pain 24/7. What works for me might not work for you and vice versa. My friend tried Hokas and they didn't work for her so she gave them to me. Not my thing either though I have coworkers that swear by them. I have a narrow foot and a high arch and need lots of cushion and arch support. I wear Nikes almost exclusively, in particular the Nike Zoom Alphafly Next.

I stumbled across this thread and decided to research Hoyas since so many peas were recommending them. I was telling my husband and he said “ if that many of your pea friends said they are good then they must be!”
I found a local store that carried them. They also do the foot scan etc. I was leaning towards the gaviotas but went with the bondi and inserts. I currently have a 5 y.o. pair of brooks and two pairs of all birds. While I love the all birds they are not up for a week of walking in Disney (coming up in Jan). My son also tried on some shoes and found some hokas too. And then he said he’d buy them for me for Xmas! He’s a good kid, works hard and lives at home. I don’t mind at all as he is a wonderful cook, he’s great helping out with the doggos, and such. I am also glad he’s not living alone as he’s got some severe anxiety (I finally convinced him to get some help and things are better) and I feel better knowing he’s not all by himself.
Mine are a kinda boring grey/white (hubby said they are a boring color) and son got this crazy bluish green with lime green soles. Told him we’d never lose him in a crowd! I have to say they are very comfortable. Now I need to do some serious walking. Last few years my legs would swell with a lot of walking or standing whenever we went somewhere, but it was particularly bad at Disney. Last time I got cellulitis after 1 day. I had ablations in both legs and have gone through half of the sclerotherapy sessions. So now I have “new” legs and new shoes for my trip!
A big thank you to the peas for the recommendation.

Thanks for this info! I ordered a pair of these. I was so happy that they had wide widths available. I wore them for a walk and they were very comfortable.

I don't feel any pressure on my back or hips. And my feet feel better. Yay. Which style did you get? I have the flip flops and slides but wondering about some of their other styles.

I’m so glad that they are working for you! 😃 I’m going to wear that very pair to work (teaching 3rd grade so on my feet all day) today. They really have been a game changer for me. I also know that different shoes work for different people, so you never can tell when you recommend shoes whether they will work for someone else. I’m glad that they are working out for you.

I am a long time lurker here and I feel compelled to comment on This post. I also had this issue along with knee pain. I swear by Oofos, they are super absorbent. They are considered a recovery shoe/sandal but I wear them all the time. They have a few different styles to choose from. Seriously, I have no foot or knee pain anymore. You can purchase them directly from them and some styles are available on Amazon. Oofos.com. Your feet will thank you. I should also add that these have an arch support and a hell cup. I have osteoarthritis in my knee also. Between the two and age and weight it's a nightmare. I'll check them out I have these issues too. I'm glad your new shoes are working for you. I'll have to take a look at these.
