How do you organize your kitchen utensil drawer?

Drawer organizers in a variety of sizes. It’s the only thing I’ve found that keeps them organized. My method is to make a template of the drawer then take it to Container Store to get organizers to fit. I also have a list of utensil sizes to make sure they have a home. Once you figure out a layout at the store, take a picture so you replicate it at home! I did my drawers 10 years ago and the same system is still in place and working.

I have a couple of pottery storage "jars" that had cork lids (long gone), I use those for my kitchen tools such as tongs, whisks, wooden spoons etc. Vege peelers are in the cutlery draw, my divider has a space for stuff like that. Scissors are in the knife block. Anything else like measuring spoons, egg rings etc, get tossed in a draw any old how.

Just took some photos to show you what I have. Everything in the top 2 drawers has been existing for several years. The large utensil organizer is new from Container Store and is by Marie Kondo.

I have one big drawer with silverware, knives and all the other flippers and things. I have custom cupboards so on site he made dividers, forks, small spoons, big spoons, butter knives, small section for small things like measuring spoons, peeler etc. Knives all along on side. The back for spatulas, flippers, tongs etc. The things I rarely use, like potato masher etc, are downstairs in the storage room in a bin.

I basically have two utensil drawers. One is mainly for eating utensils, including chopsticks. There is also room in the drawer for my measuring spoons and cups.

The other drawer has the big knives, cooking spoons and ladles, spatulas, and scissors and corkscrew.

Both drawers have those drawer organizers to separate the items.

Bag clips are kept in the pantry.

I divide things by size and category, preferring to keep it semi-organized and flexible.

All the long things used for cooking are in two drawers divided into three spaces with these expandable drawer organizers.

One drawer has a section for spoons, one for ladles/mashers/turners and one for tongs. The other has a section for knives, one for whisks and pot for pot holders.

Smaller items (reamers, vegetable peeler, corkscrew, can opener) are in another drawer loose to the side of the cutlery organizer.

All my baking pans fit in two drawers. One has a basket that holds measuring spoons and cups. 

A basket for the chip clips is in the pantry cupboard.

I have one large drawer in my kitchenette.
I have a divided utensil tray that holds silverware, ice cream scoop,  etc...
I have several plastic organizer basket-containers, that hold clips, straws, measuring cup and spoons, other miscellaneous stuff. There is room on the side of it all, for my hamburger press, the George Forman drainer tray and spatula.
My cooking utensils (spatula, big spoon, slotted spoon, tongs, etc...) are in a crock on the counter.
Scissors are in the knife block.

I’m the outlier in that I think I have seven drawers for kitchen utensils and that’s just in the kitchen. One drawer has an old silverware organizer with our everyday silverware plus steak knives, a can opener, random plastic straws, two ice cream scoops, and a small container of disposable forks and spoons. At the back of that drawer are the small whisks, a bottle opener and a quick read thermometer.

Next drawer down has measuring spoons (multiple sets), measuring cups (three sets), silicone spatulas in various sizes, small dessert spatulas, offset spatulas in several sizes, pie servers, cork screw, multiple cookie scoops in various sizes.

Next drawer down has attachments for my 4.5 qt KitchenAid mixer, assorted funnels, pastry blender tool, large whisks, candy thermometer, a box of disposable pastry bags, several silicone reusable pastry bags, several large metal spatulas, wooden pestle, a pizza cutter and probably some other random things I don’t use often.

Bottom drawer has the attachments for my 6 qt KitchenAid mixer, a couple different pie shields, the jar lids for a Magic Bullet mixer, a big box of disposable silverware.

Another separate drawer has the rest of the sharp knives, a cake tester, a bunch of reusable straws, a pack of bamboo skewers, the lids to a bunch of Tupperware shot glasses.

Another two drawers over by the cooktop have nylon and silicone turners for nonstick cookware, my smaller rolling pins, a hamburger smasher, a bunch of bamboo, nylon or wooden spoons, a pasta scoop thing with the little fingers.

Chip clips are kept in another drawer with a bunch of cookbooks.

I have more specialized utensils in other drawers in my laundry room where I decorate cookies.

Ah, ha!! You have my Aldi potato scrub brush!!

We don't have Aldi here in Canada but we obviously have other stores that sell that little cutie too!     

I've had him forever!

I did all my drawers with Lee Valley drawer dividers. The channels tap into the drawers, and then you cut the wood dividers to fit. The dividers are available at Menards, Home Depot or Lowers in the lumber section. They work beautifully!

The biggest think is purging. You don't need 27 rubber scrapers and 22 spatulas - exaggerating, but that is my mom.

LOL, I need all of mine too! I probably have at least a dozen of the small silicone spatulas and easily a half dozen big ones. Nothing bugs me more than needing a clean one and the rest are all dirty in the sink or dishwasher. I discovered the sets of three small ones at Tuesday Morning and fell in love with them and had to go back a few times to buy a bunch more. When I bake with my brother at Christmas we can easily have all of them in the sink at once when we really get going.

I do use a lot of utensils, measuring cups, etc. I have one small drawer, one large drawer, and a spinning jar that I keep on the counter.

Periodically I'll pull all of it out and put it on the counter or in a box. As I use stuff and wash it, I'll put it away in the drawer. It goes in the jar if it's something I use on almost a daily basis. After a couple of weeks (or as long as sanity tolerates the mess on the counter), I look at what's still out and determine if it's something that is worth keeping or not.

As for organizing what's left, I'm looking at some of those drawer dividers mentioned above, as I've never figured out a good method for that. It doesn't help that my family members are all disorganized slobs.
