I’d also noticed a lot of talk about early/mail in voting. Either they see it as a means of cheating or they say they need to get on board with it. I see it as just a means of voting. It isn’t some magical winning ticket for democrats. Oh, but it allows people to vote who have to work on Election Day when the polls are open, therefore allowing more people to vote. ( which should be a good thing ) To them this somehow equates to left leaning people?!? Which naturally means cheating since they aren’t voting their way. Are there any studies to show that either side votes early more prevalently? Yes, prior to 2020, both sides voted early about equally. But since 2020 when Trump spread doubt in early & mail in voting, it's overwhelmingly Democratic. Check out Tom Bonier for the specifics on this. He's the guru of tracking early vote stats across the country.

No, it's not dead. It's going to evolve into something else. It's happened with both parties, but the right is heading towards Facism.

This is true, but I read or heard something the other day that this is the first mid term election since something like 1936 where a first term president hasn't had big losses to his party in the mid terms. Or perhaps I misunderstood that. LOL That is completely true. Normally the midterms after an election result in a huge loss for the President’s party. That did not happen this time at all and despite our resident Red Wave Delusionist the Democrats actually flipped several seats. This was an absolutely historical win for the Democrats. That being said, many races were entirely too close and several MAGA deplorables won their races way too easily, but as a whole this was a historic election and does give me a glimmer of hope. Add to this, the Democrats did this in a year they shouldn't have by historical precedence, but after even more gerrymandering happened in the last 2 years by the GOP. Considering Gen Z really swung the votes, and only 50% of Gen Z was eligible to vote ... I'm thrilled with how this went. We may not take the House (though I haven't given up hope) but they were hoping for a 50-60 seat swing! It wasn't even close! At most they'll have a 3 seat majority, which isn't really anything! With 6 million more Gen Z eligible to vote in 2024, I'm starting to feel better about where we're heading. Let Trump and DeSantis each other alive. Let Trump get so out of line that he runs as an Independent and splits the vote. Ok by me.

I gave my Gen Z kids a pep talk about how their generation played an enormous role in this election, even though we're not yet where we want to be in Texas. It's not time to be discouraged! In two years even more of them will be able to vote.

This guy is right. The reality is a lot of things that voters vote for are about the future.
So if Gen Z is unhappy with the ways things are going then they need to get their collective asses in gear and vote in numbers a hell of a lot higher then 27%.

I can't wait to watch them eat their own. What a shit show the House is going to be with maybe a 1 or 2 seat majority. Oh and the American people, fuck you because they aren't going to do a damn thing for two years.

Republican party fucked around and found out. Yeah they did, and I don't think they're done yet. Some idiot talking head on Fox (I don't know their names) literally sat their and told men they have to marry the single female liberals to make them vote GOP. He had a graph that showed married women vote more R and single women vote more D. I literally was shaking my head and wondering how he could really think that "putting a ring on" was going to fix that. Then another Fox talking head was shown a week before the election talking about how women didn't care about RvW anymore, and it was fine. Flip to after the election ... "well, I guess they really did still care about that". No shit? ? You think we care about the fact that prices are a little high right now (and will come down!!) more than we care about bodily autonomy? Wow. And to just prove how scared of the "brainwashed" Gen Z they are ... their new talking point is about raising the voting age to 21. Because "how could they possibly understand what they're voting for?". Yet ... a 10 year old rape victim who is pregnant is expected to wrap her fucking CHILD mind around the fact that she has to carry a rape baby all the way to term?!!?! These people are a joke.

Their only move, with an increasingly noxious and irrelevant “platform,” is to disenfranchise people who don’t vote for them.

To quote Heather Cox Richardson tonight:
"Those results are strong. According to Axios senior political correspondent Josh Kraushaar, only in 1934, under Democratic president Franklin D. Roosevelt; 1962, under Democratic president John F. Kennedy; and 2002, under Republican president George W. Bush and just after the 9/11 attacks, has a president’s party not lost a Senate seat in the midterms and lost fewer than 10 House seats. Since World War II, midterms have cost the party in power an average of 28 seats."
