I am seeing super long pointy fingernails all over the place these days. I’m talking like at least 1 inch long nails and they’re very pointy and covered in “jewels.” I find them a little scary. I also have no idea how people can do anything with them. I mean even wiping your butt seems scary.
So do you wear nails this long? If so, do you wear them only for special occasions or do you wear them all the time? And how do you manage daily tasks?
These are my Tuesday evening thoughts🧐

They're fun to look at (especially the brown ones on the first link you gave...those are beautiful) but I could never wear them. The Cardi B length are beyond ridiculous, IMO. I can't picture a "normal" person working, cleaning, doing laundry, etc.

Not my style, but I also don't like nails that extend beyond the finger tips.

I do not like the look of long pointy nails at all. I prefer a shorter more natural shape and solid color without mail art and things like that. More of a classic look.

No. I work in medicine and most clinics and hospitals do not allow nails like that. They are incredibly filthy.

Not for me. I’ve been learning classical guitar and I have to keep long nails (but much, much shorter than that) on my right hand and they drive me nuts.

Not at all. My nails grow fast and I used to have long nails. But as I'm older I keep them just to the end of my fingers and do keep them polished most of the time. For me it looks a lot nicer. I really don't like the pointy ones. But when I was a teen I was "torn" between nice long nails and playing the guitar. Can't do both.

I mean, how on earth do they even work? I often have nails like the second picture. I don’t like the super pointy shape or matte finish on the first. I wear jewels, flowers, bows, charms on my nails frequently. Nails are not meant to be tools. You shouldn’t use them for anything. In the process of growing my nails out to that length, I learned not to use them to open things, grabs things, etc. You become very aware of using your fingers (which is what you should do) vs using your nails (which you shouldn’t do). I guess I don’t get the ass wiping comments. When you wipe your ass do you go in nails first? I use toilet paper, not my nails. Having long nails has never once interfered with using toilet paper. Even when my kids were in diapers and I was wiping multiple asses a day, I did not have issues.

Not at all! I still love the square rounded off short names, can’t remember the nail. Classic, traditional but crazy colors are fun just not crazy pointed long nails 😂
Looks like from the hashtags they are called stiletto names. No thanks. Scary.

I really don't like the pointy ones. I know they are really popular though. I like the shape on the second set of nails but couldn't do them that long for anything. I get grossed out a bit with them when I see people cooking with them - there is a reason that most real kitchens don't allow them along with medical facilities.

For me I don't like fake nails at all. I have very nice strong nails, although I'm hard on them. I have even stopped doing gel polish cuz while it would keep them nice for a week or two then my nails were ruined. I also can't do the upkeep on fake or constantly polished nails. I only get them done 2-3 times a year. And only polish them once every 3 months or so on my own.

I have mine more of a medium length gel nail, not too long because they get in the way, but I'm so used to having them that I find having super short nails throws me off & makes it harder to do stuff - like texting! i cannot text at all without nails, I make so many mistakes. I have gel because my natural nails are so soft that they break easily, even before I started getting gel nails. But I don't do pointy at all, I prefer a rounded square shape - with not embellishments, just a plain polish

I've never been a nail person. I haven't even had a professional manicure. I have short nails. I've tried to grow them, but they get in the way. At the gym, longer nails makes it hard to grab a bar, or pick up weight. I've broken a few nails in the gym. Also, I dabble a little on the piano, and you need short nails. I don't like how they clack when I type on a keyboard. I've watched co-workers with long nails type with the tips of their nails. If I was to get my nails done, I do like the matte look, and it would be something simple, no rhinestones or 3D elements on them. Sort of like the "like this" link above, but not as pointed.

I work in a GP surgery. Once we did a hand washing test with UV light for germs before and after washing. The false nails lit up like floodlights both before and after washing, especially underneath them. Yuck.
And whoever said nails aren't tools, that's brainwashed consumerist claptrap. Of course they are. Why else did most animals evolve to have nails and claws? For goodness sake.

I admit there are a lot of style and fashion trends that I don’t care for. No judgement (for the most part), but visually there are styles I don’t find appealing.
So - no, I don’t find very long nails attractive, especially the pointy and adorned nails. I’ve turned off “crafty” YouTube videos because of those kind of nails. And when they start tapping those things on their work surfaces, then I get stabby. Ugh. I cannot tolerate that!

They can certainly be tools but if you’re someone who spends time and money on manicures or does them at home even and then you do use your nails as tools (I.e.) to scratch at labels, to dig out stuff then the polish won’t last as long and your nails are more likely to break. They can be tools but that doesn’t gel (pun intended) with having groomed, polished nails generally.

Not my thing (I'm the person who says to the nail technician "as short as you can make them" when getting a manicure) but if they make someone else happy, good for them.

I like the look of long nails. I LOVE watching nail art videos & nail art. I can’t pull off nails more than 1/8-3/16 past my finger. My nails break, and acrylic nails make my fingers feel like they are suffocating. ( yeah I’m weird I know ) but I think a well kept nail looks nice. As far as cleaning them goes, the only person I know who has longish nails irl soaks them twice a day. You know like the old Palmolive commercials. My nails are currently very short with nothing on them because I broke 2 & accidentally stabbed a thumb with a screwdriver so I have to grow that out.
My prehistoric typing teacher would have none of that long nail stuff and honestly I think that is at least a little bit why I love it & wish I could pull it off
