I have plastic containers with lids that I keep my cereal in. What about you?

I was always “leave the cereal in the box” type of person until just recently. I bought a set of OXO cereal containers at Costco and I really like them. So much so, that I went back and bought another set. We don’t eat cereal very fast and I do believe it’s keeping the cereal fresher than when I just left it in the box.

I leave everything in original packaging.
In the past, I've tried moving the contents to containers to be organized and pleasing to the eye, but the products always end up tasting weird to me.

I was just looking at my huge, plastic cereal containers yesterday, thinking I needed to get rid of them. They were purchased to hold the bargain cereal that comes in a bag.
Now that the kids are gone, we buy the fancy kind in a box and it wouldn't even fill a third of those big containers.

Both. It depends. Sometimes I decant it, sometimes I leave it. At the moment we have some in a plastic container and some, open but in the box.

I switched to the OXO cereal containers several years ago. One box too many with little buggies and/or stale cereal prompted the change. Added benefit is that it is easy to spot which ones need refilling, instead of the empty (or near empty) box some family members will stick back in the pantry.

In a container.
I used to leave them in the box when dd was younger and we went through it pretty fast, but now it can take a while so I put them in containers.

I agree. I leave it in the box. I don't eat cereal anymore, but when my son was around, he'd finish a box in one day! No need to transfer it anywhere

I make my own Chex mix - Chex cereals, nuts, dried fruit and chocolate chips which I put in a container. I do not make this too often because I can not seem to keep myself from eating it! Otherwise, the cereal stays in the box.

Nope. Gross, but we've been battling pantry moths for what seems like forever, and an open cereal box is a moth worm buffet .

I'm a plastic container nut. I got pantry months one time years ago and ever since then I do not keep a single thing that is packaged (unless never been opened) in the original packaging.
I have Tupperware mod mates, Lock&Lock, or whatever other containers to store everything in, and that includes cereal. Plus I like being able to see how much we have left. If let in a box you have to look inside to see.

Leave it in the box unless it is the Costco 2 pack.. then I will dump a bag into a cereal container.

(Some things go in a container cause DH bought me a huge set of the XOX ones and so rice/noodles go in those kind.

I think the moths hitch hike into your pantry as larve in your rice and other foods so it's really a crap shoot if you get them or not.
I remember being so mad I had to throw out everything. Anyone remember those commercials for some sort of pesticide riden shelf liners called "No Bugs M'lady" way back in the day? Memory triggered...

Not sure how to answer. Back in the day, Cheerios were always transferred to a lidded container. It I bought something like granola, it stayed in the box. I often buy my kids a box of their favorite sugar cereal for their birthdays and those always stayed in the box.

I leave it in the box. I'm not a cereal eater, and no one else trusts it if I take it out of the box. They think I buy the cheap stuff (which is, of course, "ewwww, gross") if they can't see the box. I've seriously thought about putting the cheap stuff into the name brand box to see if anyone noticed...

I chose in a container AND in the box. I only have two Tupperware cereal containers, but lots of different cereal, so two get put in the containers and the rest stays in the boxes.
I recently bought a lot more clips to keep the inner plastic bags closed, because DSO is apparently incapable of folding the plastic bags over and his cereal was going stale.

I keep it in the box; however, your post reminded me that my dad used to have plastic containers and he would mix all different kinds together. He was not a one-cereal man!

I keep it in the box. I put the box in a two gallon ziploc type bag.
Many years ago in my 20's, I had a million baby ants get in my pantry. Since then everything except canned goods goes in a gallon or two gallon baggie or sealed container. I use the same baggies over and over and over.

I answered that I leave it in the box, and that's true for all but one type (we have many: see previous poll, LOL). I transfer the granola to its own container because I buy it in a much larger container than the others and it doesn't fit on the cereal shelf if I leave it in the original container. One year for April Fool's Day when the kids were young, DH came downstairs early and took the inner bags out of all the cereal boxes and put them back in different boxes. When DD tried to pour a bowl of Lucky Charms, for example, she got Apple Cinnamon Cheerios instead. Then DS tried a different one, and it took them a while to test all the boxes and figure it out (they're not morning people, bless their hearts ). They ultimately laughed after their initial confusion. (DH & I were amused though.)

I used to take the cereal bag out of the box and put it all in a plastic container, but it took up more room, so now I don’t bother.

I've always put cereal in a container and have 3-4 of them. Now that the kids have moved out, I only buy Cheerios as training treats for the dog. Those go in a container and the other 3 are in the storage room. It seems wrong to get rid of them, but I can't think why I would need them.
