I will second 11/22/63. I thought it was great. Mr Mercedes and Revival were good as well, though the end of Revival was disturbing to me. I have heard that 11/22/63 is a terrific read. I will throw in Doctor Sleep by S. King as well. Just finished it and I love it!!!

Is he fond of movies? As You Wish by Cary Elwes is a memoir of the making of the Princess Bride and all of the actors wrote pieces for the book. One of my favorite of the year.

If your dad liked Doc (I loved it!) he might really like the book Sundance I listed above. It was about the Sundance Kid, who doesn't die in Bolivia, but goes to prison and gets out and searches for his wife in NYC. I really liked it.

This would not be a dad book either but, the best book I read this year was
The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult
I read it months ago and I still am thinking about it.

I really enjoyed "Dr. Sleep"....to think that 40 years after writing "The Shining" while a complete drunk to writing that sequel sober and having the two books meld seamlessly is amazing. I also enjoyed his son's "NOS4A2" very much also. That family has huge writing talent.
