We actually have the trash bin full for trash day tomorrow. That is rare. Lol. I threw away some of rescue/outside dog's toys that had been left in rain and some of his old bedding. (It was replaced).
Took about 6 boxes to Goodwill. Mostly books. Was some odds and ends, stuff for booths we had for forever. This weekend is the swap meet that's connected with flea market we have booths in. We organized booths, getting ready for swap meet. Hope we sell a bunch. Need the space and the money.
Going to take recycling off tomorrow. Been slacking.
Trying to screen films and mark stuff for booth

I got out all the photos of my dad's family... made three piles.. him, his parents, and misc family. I am going to pick the best from the piles and put in a photo album and label and scan stuff. then I am tackling my mom's family, then work on husband's. this is a very long term project.. and currently I have no grandkids to give it to.. but it is something I want to do.

I did this over the last couple of years for my husbandās family. This past Christmas I finished the heritage albums for my daughters and it was a hit and probably the most satisfying album I have ever done. I scanned every single picture and uploaded them to Google Photos so everyone has them if they want them. I then gave all of the physical pictures to my SIL who doesnāt use technology. My husbandās nephew asked for a copy which was easy because they are digital albums. Next up is going through the two tubs of pictures from my parents and dividing them up and deciding what I want in my heritage album. I just looked in the tubs and put them backā¦.not in the mood right now! I already did paper albumās for my Dadās side and for my Momās side but need to digitize them.

So, thank you, your post got me motivated! My SIL and I get together every Friday to scrapbook, make cards, eat, etc. After I went to bed I got to thinking and got back up and got out a tub and two other containers of pictures. I made my way through one of them today! I left everything at her house and I will work on it every week until I make my way through everything and then Iāll start scanning. Thanks for the motivation!

And yes, itās so important to label pictures! My husband never knew his Grandpa and didnāt even know his great grandparents names! I had to do a lot of sleuthing to figure out who was who. My MIL did label a few picture and when I was scanning them I found baby pictures of one of his auntās children who was put up for adoption and was just reunited with his birth family in his 60ās. Oh what a joy that discovery was! So many questions were answered by one labeled photo!

I am being stubborn about getting rid of them. I have already donated cash and food to them and a crate is going to them too. (We bought it for rescue/outdoor dog but with him being so terrified of enclosed spots and finding a vet who does house calls, we aren't going to use it.

Half of the new and nearly new kidās socks I posted on the Buy Nothing group have gone to new homes. I broke them down into lots by size and hope I can give away the rest. Next week is the next free local shredding event and Iām looking forward to offloading several boxes of papers at that.

My sister was here this past week and we were able to get through the rest of our mom's belongings (She is in the nursing home with dementia). We separated the photos, memorabilia and scrapbooks between the 3 of us siblings. There is still 1 bin we will have to tackle on her next visit. We tossed the photos/memorabilia of people and trips that weren't of family or people we even knew. There were things we dropped off at goodwill. I am ok with storing the 4 bins of mom's things in my basement. We started with a full enclosed trailer. I still need to go through my box of stuff as there are a lot of photos I won't need to keep as they are duplicate photos I gave to mom of my kids, etc. When my sister left she said she was going to go through her childhood/young adult totes and purge what needed purging so her own kids won't have to when she is gone someday. ***College DS is home for the summer and just went through his closet and filled a large black garbage bag with clothes that no longer fit.....woohoo!

Didn't have the weekend we were hoping for, both at swap meet and at indoor flea market. Only $18 today, with $0 being inside. Not worth it. We put some stuff in GW boxes that will probably go this week.
My Mom went with my Dad today to help so I tried to get stuff done at the house.

Today I tackled the pantry. I have been dreading this. My dh and I took everything out. It felt like Mary Poppins bag! He scrubbed the shelves and vacuumed and then we did a fast toss of expired products and will probably never eat/use. That resulted in 2 big bags of garbage. Then he declared he was ready for a nap. So DD stepped in and helped me organize. I found that I wasnāt using/currently needing a lot of the plastic containers so I washed those and boxed them up. My pantry is less than half full. Iām going to pay myself on the back for the beast I tackled today!

Yesterday I tackled the towers and a drawer on DH's bathroom counter. We have 2 towers each that go from counter top to ceiling with doors and shelves that replace the traditional medicine cabinet. His was just a big jumble of stuff. So Friday I stopped at Container Store and stocked up on an assortment of the drawer organizers. Emptied each shelf one by one, then put everything back using the organizers. That was a big help for him, but the biggest help was tossing about half of what was in the towers to begin with...medicines that expired in 2019/20, empty bottles, stuff he tried and didn't like, etc. I went over the system with him and made sure it would work for him. Hopefully this will do the trick.
The drawer to the right of the sink had become a junk drawer. Now it is full of organizers, with everything in it's place while stuff that didn't belong in there has been moved to it's correct spot in the bathroom. Probably took less than an hour, but I was happy to have it done.

I was very brave and sold another huge box of scrapbooking ephemera and pocket cards Iāll never use but was keeping ājust in caseā. Customer got a bargain, and I can now actually flip through a couple of my bins! Also started an album for an upcoming trip and am using all the things. For me I have trouble with saving some items āfor laterā for the āperfectā page, but this causes the clutter to start so instead Iām challenging myself to use all the stickers, all the papers, all the die cuts etc.

took a break from album project (have to go get prints) and pulled out the boxes of my dad's slides and movies, and my fil's slides. this is huge bins worth.. so I consolidated all of it and renewed my knowledge of what is there. so I eliminated some boxes and bins.. this all lives in my study next to the big bin of stuff to take to my daughter in new zealand (trip in may).. and the big pile of stuff to take to our condo (this summer). I have a huge box of misc photo stuff.. like 8 mm reels, I don't feel good about throwing it out,, so will find someone who wants it.

I'm trying to be more realistic about what I'm going to knit and sew, and have been getting rid of fabric and more recently, yarn. I've put together lots/sets of yarn, and recently sold 60 skeins of yarn ( I track all my yarn on Ravelry). I'm surprised at how fast these were snapped up-like, minutes after posting and picked up within a day. I'm going to continue to go through my craft room as I work on projects.

I cleaned out one of the 3 freezers. The garbage can is full because one of my cleaning ladies continues to put cardboard boxes in the garbage. The daughter knows better but the mother drives me to drink. I will bring in a recycle bag so when she finds some paper product she can put it in there. This shouldnāt be so difficult.

The Fibromyalgia is behaving badly at present. Couldnāt sit still yesterday. So, I went through the family room desk. Consolidated some of the nail polish into a carrier. Boxes to the recycling. Tossed some nuisance items.
Do not need to buy Post-it notes ever again. Also found some Muji highlighters that may be useful for the bujo.
Couldnāt sleep last night. So, rather immobile and miserable. Little Bit is with me, though.

Tuesday I made another stop at Container Store for more drawer bins and organizers. This time I updated the lower drawers on my side of the bathroom. For the past 6 years I've been making do with bins I had on hand as well as sturdy boxes in the deeper drawers. Nothing wrong with using a good sturdy box to organize drawers, but it's rare to be able to get the ideal fit and organizational abilities.
All 3 drawers were emptied and cleaned, then I played around with the layout of bins. Quite a few things got tossed, a few things were relocated to the front bathroom drawers. Now I have a good working layout and should be able to keep the chaos at bay! The makeup drawer was the one that benefitted the most and makes me the happiest!
This weekend I plan to purge and reorganize three of the drawers in the front bathroom. The other three are just towels and t.p. and stay in good order.

The trash bin was about 7/8th full yesterday, which is pretty good for us. Hopefully we can continue purging. Some stuff I feel bad about throwing away but some of it isn't worth fixing. I am getting better about not keeping empty soda cases laying around too. I have switched from 24 packs to 12 packs, and it seems like I am more motivated to keep filling up the 12packs with trash to get out to the bin. Our city doesn't recycle them and I hate the idea of not reusing them somehow. We also reuse the trash bags used for recycling for outdoor stuff. (We can afford to use all new bags, but we try to reuse everything. My Dad's Mom grew up during the Depression and then didn't have much of anything after that, so I think we get it from her).
I bought a few things at a thrift store Wednesday (it's only open 3 hours a week) and at a yard sale today. Thankful we have room for the stuff.
I hope we have a decent weekend in booth. We need more space.

After a massive house purge due to our renovations we have a lot less stuff as I was realistic about what I use. But you should see how many people hear you are cleaning out and feel like they need to fill the spaces! Fresh air is good!

Trying to declutter my dresser drawers. Gave 2 old shirts to Baby for extra bed padding. (He has started sleeping on his bed of blankets on the porch). Also threw away undergarments that needed to be.
My Dad threw away the bedding that was on top of Baby's house and cleaned out the inside. I think the used straw went over the fence to help with composting there.
My Dad and I sold 2 things on eBay and we got them out today, thank goodness.

This weekās fail: I totally forgot about the shredding day until I knew it would be too late to get over there with my stuff. š© I had too many other irons in the fire then DH had an unexpected day off that day and he was out with friends and I completely spaced it out.
This weekās win: I had a big Rubbermaid tote full of stuff that Iāve been tripping over for at least a year. I emptied it out, took pics of most of it and posted it on Buy Nothing. Some of it was snapped up within the hour and several more items left the house today. A few other things were added to the box Iām working on filling to donate to the local charity that gives away clothing to area residents who need it. I found the virtually new roller skates that DD got right before Covid and then outgrew because the rink we used to go to very week closed forever, those will be sold on marketplace. I think she wore them twice. ā¹ļø The bag of electronics junk got put with the boxes of stuff I was going to take to the shredding event because they will also take electronics. The next one is June 21 and Iāll set my reminder for the day before so I can get help from DH to load it up in the car. The tote itself has no lid, so it will be used for my next donatable donation box. Iām so glad that tote is now empty and out of my way!
Oh, one more thing went out the door this week too! Someone was looking for a wooden doll cradle on Buy Nothing and DD had one she didnāt want anymore so out the door it went. It will make some other little kid really happy and that makes ME really happy!

Most of the stuff people are needing free or really cheap I don't have (cell phone til they can get theirs fixed, furniture, baby clothes, etc) I don't have. If someone needs clothes hopefully I can help them out that way. When we were moving 5 years ago, we put out some old desk chairs for bulk pickup or whoever drove by and wanted it prior to bulk. A lady just happened to be walking by just after we put it out. She asked if she could take it, she had no furniture. I told her take it. She said she was going to come back and get the small table we had out. It was gone next morning at dawn. Not sure if she got it or someone else.

It's not my win, but my parents are visiting and my Dad brought two old laptops with him that he wants to get rid of, so I wiped both of them so they can be safely disposed of. My parents have a lot of stuff, they both come from small families and ended up with a lot of photos and memorabilia, along with household goods, when their parents passed away, and we kids are all guilty of leaving things behind when we moved out. Over the last couple of years they've been making a concerted effort to donate/sell/get rid of all sorts of things, so I'm happy to help in this small way.
