Been trying to sit outside and use up crafting stuff. Taking it easy since my hospital stay.
Have already sold over 40 items for the month at flea market. Hope it continues and we set up next month at outdoor market to move more stuff. My Dad did drop off boxes off stuff at GW while coming to see me in hospital. We had planned on going to GW outlet to donate it but ER trip/hospital stay stopped that. Forgot how much it was that was donated.

I’m gearing up for round two of the local fall consignment sales this week. It’s all tagged and loaded in the car for my drop off appointment later this week. I’ll be really happy to come away with another couple hundred bucks, and happier still for more stuff to be gone. I was going to take my two boxes of donation stuff to Salvation Army but then decided I would wait since I thought of some other stuff I can add to fill up the second box.
I’m pretty sure SA will take whatever stuffed animals DD doesn’t want anymore, those are harder to get rid of. Any hard plastic toys or games can go to a local place that sets up a free toy shelf for parents in need, any clothes that don’t sell can go to the place in my community that gives them away vs. selling them since everything in this sale is fall/winter.
In my quest to root out things that need to get gone, I uncovered a whole box of Babysitter’s Club books that came from a neighbor that DD is too old for now. I don’t want to deal with posting them on Buy Nothing because it’s quicker and easier to just take them to the closest Little Free Libraries and stock them up. There must be at least a half dozen of them within 10-15 minutes of my house and all in areas that I frequent pretty regularly, so I can just drop them off there when I see one and call it a day.

Baby tore up a toy. That was a booger to get up. Between pneumonia making it harder to breathe while bent/moving and Baby trying to play, it took longer than it probably should have.
Have another bag going to give to teachers if my contact ever takes it. Tempted to just give it to library and get it over with. Only reason I want to give it to school is that it's going to the accelerated, public, residential school that has an art track and I thought it would benefit them more.(Everything is paid for, families don't pay since it's public. I know there is one who took the humanities track who got a full ride to Columbia).

Finally donated a large bag of misc. things this week. I also donated all of our DVDs - all 110 of them! We can't even remember the last time that we pulled one out and watched it, but it's probably at least 5 years because the DVD player hasn't been hooked up for that long! Freed up 2 drawers in the living room built ins.
This morning I pulled out all of what is left of my Fall/Winter wardrobe. This afternoon I will try on and plan to be ruthless on deciding what stays/goes. I have already started to rebuild my wardrobe, but need to see exactly what I am starting with. Will send photos of the better items to my sister to see if she wants any of it. What ever she wants will be shipped out this week.
Still waiting on Fall weather to show up so that I can tackle the garage.

So jealous that you’re going through your fall/winter items! I won’t wear anything until November or December (some years not until January) and I’m losing weight at a decent clip so I have to hold off. cecilia Hope you feel much better soon.

I've pretty much leveled off and after that session would be running around half naked when it turns cold if I don't start shopping! I have a few dresses, some cotton turtlenecks, no jeans and a handful of blouses. At least I can build a shopping list now. I have ordered 3 pair of pants and 2 blazers from DH's tailors but won't have those until October. I have 2 large shopping bags full of things to donate. Now to take photos of things for my sister to look at. She's lost a lot of weight as well but has always been a size larger than me. She is bummed though because I'm the only short one in the family so none of my pants will work for her!

Putting together a box of clothes to ship to my sister this week. She wanted everything I sent photos of except for 1 t-shirt. She didn't like the color. She is thrilled and I am happy to send these off to a good home!

Congratulations to you too, hopefully it stays warm like it has been so you can hold out a while. Enjoy your new wardrobe! And organizing your closet, so much easier and more fun when basically starting from scratch. I think you need new jewelry to show off the more sculpted cheekbones too! What about as crops? As a taller person they’re much more flattering. *grumbles* I just don’t take out my “cold” clothes until then because I’m always hot, especially here! I don’t even own a jacket, I wear DH’s Spurs jacket if I absolutely need one What bites though is that I love winter clothes, both the colors and styles. So I own way too many for how often I wear them. Some years I don’t even wear everything. I should take that into consideration when I unpack, but I really have narrowed it down to items that are in excellent shape that I love. Y’all may have to hold my hand through this!

Some more random spurts of decluttering going on - tossed some expired beauty products (I have more to go through though) and I am throwing away the shirt I wore for work today. It's far too big, and it had a couple little holes in the front, so I can't donate it.
Slow progress is still progress.
My last Barkbox is should arrive soon, and then I am finished with that subscription, so less stuff will be coming into the house.

Bought my Travs card set for the year. It will go in my baseball box. They used to do team photos and I collected them. COVID killed them and Photo With A Trav Day (if you remember my baseball photos from the old board, it was PWAT Day photos).
Got some cardboard boxes from volunteer group building. They were going to trash them so I took them to use for donations. (Got the okay from an officer to take them inside of throwing them in dumpster.)
My Dad is heading to swap meet Saturday. Hope he sells a bunch of stuff. Need the money and room. The Razorback football team plays out of state and at night so people will be out during the day hopefully.
Barely had 3/4 of trash bin full this week. going to work on using things up and tossing it.

I finally got my closet purged and reorganized. The bags of donations got dropped off at Goodwill this morning. Now I'm moving on to our semi-finished attic which is becoming a catchall space and it's not intended to be.

We have done our new wills and our LPAs are in the process of being registered with the courts. We have done our bit, just waiting for the legal process to be completed.
The mountain of paperwork is still being tackled but I have turned our attention to one of the outside sheds that I want gone. Bar three bikes which we will deal with separately, the shed is now empty and we have booked a slot at our local recycling centre this weekend. It is probably going to take more than one trip but we can easily book another slot.
Then it's down with the shed, I will be so pleased when it gone.

Forgot to mention, I've had the pressure washer out, I love that thing! Have started with the garden path so it's not a slipping hazard during the winter. The rain stopped my progress but I plan to do more in the coming week.

Took recycling off yesterday. Have a Dr appointment near drop off Monday so I will take whatever we get between yesterday and Monday then. Might as well.
Have all of my stuff ready for the Arts and Crafts Fair first weekend of October. Hope it does well.
Need to stock booth at flea market. Need to start getting Christmas in there. Donated a ton last year to focus on vintage/homemade but still have a ton to sell or donate.

It’s the first full day of the consignment sale, I dropped off 87 items and as of last night (there are two presale days) already 21 things have been sold. I feel pretty good about that. Mostly clothes so far but the toys tend to go pretty well once the crowds come on the regular sale days.
I really like the way this company runs these sales. Everything is computerized so sellers get daily running updates showing what sold, we get a report at the end listing what didn’t sell, etc. I’ve always thought this would be an excellent model for running consignment sales of craft supplies. Research has shown that many hobbyists change up what they like to do about every seven years or so, and I know so many crafters with basements and closets and craft rooms stuffed with nice things they’ll never use again.

There's a thrift store in Kansas City that is just craft supplies/upcycle type stuff. Proceeds go to the homeless population for basic needs. It's called ScrapsKC and are active on Instagram. I want to go up to KC to it and the Negro League Museum.

Dad came back with 2 empty totes from swap meet.
Got some bad news there though. There's a couple that always set up across from us. She died and her husband is still struggling. Their friends weren't even with him today. For some reason the news has made me get on the verge of tears several times. No idea why. Don't even know their names. Trying to use the energy to clean and sort.

cecelia -I'm sorry for your bad news. Got the car loaded with cardboard recycling - it'll get dropped off today. Worked with DH in the big garage - got a couple of bookcases moved in from the house and some of his woodworking and car fixing books on to them. He tossed a book - only one but it's a start. He's starting going through the totes in there...it'll be slow-going but progress. And he fixed the mower so DD16 mowed and my yard looks 1000% better. I pulled out some fabric - abt 12.5 yds - that I've offered to a friend but will donate if she says no...progress

Our neighborhood did a 'neighborhood' garage sale Saturday. I only had 3 small bags of clothes and several pairs of shoes we were going to take to Goodwill. I asked my neighbor if I could just put them with her for sale stuff since she had lots she was putting out. So yay-- got rid of those!

They had some stuff with suggested prices but it was basically a pay what you want type situation. As a former retailer I couldn’t see how that could work out financially over the long term, even to make enough to pay the rent and utilities.

There was (is?) a store like that in the cities but the one time I went there with a couple HUGE boxes of really nice scrapbook paper the people working there were so rude I never wanted to go back. I’d much rather donate to a school for their art department. The next time I weeded through my scrapbook paper there was an email from the school’s librarian looking for scrapbook paper so every kid in the school could make a bookmark. I think I donated about 600 sheets of patterned paper for that and she was just blown away.

There was a huge research study done by the Craft & Hobby Association years ago and that was one of the things they had asked people about. I couldn’t believe that people change things up and move on to something else so often but it must be true just based on how the departments change at Michael’s and JoAnn’s. Friends of mine in another state used to do a HUGE craft supplies sale at a church twice a year for many years. People would request a seller number and would package/price/tag anything that they wanted to sell. My friends would assign each person table space in the sale based on how much stuff they brought and then they themselves would run the sale. They kept something like 15% of each seller’s sales as a donation for a local charity they actively supported and used that as seed money for their annual charity crop. I don’t think they’ve done a sale though since the pandemic. I always thought something like that would work out great in my area but I knew from helping them for several years that it would be a ton of work to pull it off and I don’t have the same kind of network of helpers that they had.
