I start every year with good intentions of using my stash instead of adding to it, and this year I need to follow through more than ever. I've found it helpful to challenge myself to make 50 layouts before doing any shopping. It has been such good motivation over the last couple of years that I'm doing it again.
I'm aiming for 50 layouts but you can set a target that is more in line with your scrapping speed and length of time you want to stay frozen. You're also in control of any exceptions to your freeze which might include a regular kit club, or basics such as adhesive or photo printing or cardstock.
Come and join me and hold me accountable!

I plan to finish making my Dec album before I begin, those pages will not count towards my total layouts. I should have enough adhesive and white cardstock to get me through, and I certainly have enough of everything else.
I need to buy albums for this year, so if they go on sale at a good price before I'm finished with my 50 layouts I'm allowing myself to buy them. Similarly, if Cocoa Vanilla release a new collection that I love, I'm allowed to buy it. I'd really love to get to 100 layouts before shopping but I'm not sure I'm brave enough to put that out there as a commitment!
A countdown to keep me accountable: 44 layouts to go
Second attempt: 30 layouts to go
Third attempt: (thanks destash sale with bargains I couldn't resist) 0 layouts to go!

I love this idea. I'll do it, too. I think if I make myself a physical tracker that I can fill in as I complete each layout that will help - I'm a visual person and need to see it to remember it. I may need to buy an album, too, but I'll wait for a good sale. I have a gift certificate to Simon Says Stamp so I can buy any necessities I'm missing when I need them, although I have plenty of adhesive and white cardstock, too.
I did sign up for Crop and Create Papercrafting in April so I will get those supplies, but that's all paid for already at least.
When was the last Cocoa Vanilla release? I'm new to them as of last year, and I love their stuff - do they do regular releases like companies like Echo Park do?

I’m in for 50 pages!! I have two planned purchases for this month (new cameo and maybe a photo scanner) other than that I have plenty to last a while but I know I’ll want to dive in head first into any Vicki Boutin release so I don’t want to overstate my page goal. 😊

Hmmmm, there are two days until the weekly SOSN 50% off sale at The Lilypad, four days until the new BYOC releases at 20% off at The Lilypad, and one day until the weekly Publisher's Picks 50% off sale at The Digital Press. I can probably do one layout per day. So...... I will set my goal to complete a whopping TWO layouts before shopping!

When was the last Cocoa Vanilla release? I'm new to them as of last year, and I love their stuff - do they do regular releases like companies like Echo Park do? marg they usually do two or three a year. The most recent one was Storyteller which was around mid year, and No Limits was at the start of 2022. They didn't have a release towards the end of the year which was unusual (but probably better for my bank account) so I'm hoping this means they'll have one early this year. I don't know if she has a set schedule, for years she did two releases a year, then started dropping a third one in, then back to two last year, so who knows what this year will bring.

CV No Limits came out late January, and was supposed to get to retailers in late February but I think it was April I think when I finally got it. Same thing happened with the June release.

I like this idea, count me in! January is going to be a no spend month for me anyway, unless I need glue.
My goal will also be 50 layouts before shopping. I will design some sort of tracker for myself today to help keep me organized.

I’m in but will start after I go to a scrapbook retreat on two weeks. We will be stopping at an actual store so I will make an exception for that! Like others, I will exclude albums (if needed and they go on sale) and adhesive. I’m going to shoot for 15 layouts though. I don’t think I do 50 in a year and I don’t want to set myself up to fail!
Quick Question: How do you all do the tickers/trackers?

Quick Question: How do you all do the tickers/trackers? I'm on a desktop so not sure if it's different on mobile - but if you click on a ticker, there should be an option on the page to make your own

I'm in! I am putting in a photo order today so that I can complete my 2022 PL album but other than that I'm going to shoot for 30 layouts before shopping. I've gotten pretty slow at doing full pages lately (although doing well with completing albums). I miss doing regular layouts, have not refrained from buying all kinds of 12x12 papers though 😂 49th & Market has gotten me with almost all of their most recent releases! So I'm going to make my goal a bit more manageable.

Yes, please! Does anyone have that printable tracker that has numbers to fill in within each month?

I am putting in a photo order today Yes - I just placed a photo order also for $25 but I'm not counting photos in my freeze as one of my yearly goals is to continue to stay up-to-date with photo printing

Too late for me! I placed a scrapbook.com order yesterday. I’ll start now, and make a vow to actually use what I ordered.

Quick Question: How do you all do the tickers/trackers? Does anyone have that printable tracker that has numbers to fill in within each month? I downloaded a 20 project tracker from Created by GwenI'm definitely in. I need to reign it in with the excessive shopping and hardly any creating I've done the past year. I'm going to do 20 projects (probably PL layouts, maybe some cards in there too - I have to make 5 cards to count as a "layout"). I don't think I need to buy a single thing, adhesive included. Now that I think about it, I will have to buy ink for the printer but I don't count that towards scrappy buying because my whole family uses the printer.

I'll join in the challenge.
I got a little bit of cash for Christmas. I was thinking of getting something fun, but I need to order a LOT of photos. So, photos, adhesive, albums, and page protectors will be my exception to the challenge. They are boring to buy and I usually have a low inventory. It will be as needed though!
I finally got my Cricut working okay and I'm going to work on using it much more this year. I did order new mats and a giant roll of double sided tape in December. I have LOTS of paper and I have a big basket of scraps.
I think my word of the year (or at least this month) is steady. Just keep plugging along. I'm going to keep my supplies out more often than not. We don't get that many visitors to our house. The kitchen table and living room won't be in pristine condition, that's okay.
I currently do have PhotoShop. It's been so long since I used it, I need to learn how it works again. I want to incorporate digital supplies more into paper scrapping. I did buy some Simple Stories products during the Black Friday sales.

I just sent an order for 454 photos. Looks like I could easily do this challenge. Now does the 50 layouts mean one pagers or two or whatever? I usually do two pagers. I also placed an order last month for 24 rolls of ATG tape before I realized that I had an extra drawer full of tape. My son bought me tape for Christmas last year and when it got held up somewhere (Amazon), he canceled the order and I got 2 sets of 24 rolls last year when the lost order finally arrived and they didn't want it back.

Now does the 50 layouts mean one pagers or two or whatever? Totally up to you. I count them as one because my goal is to use more of my stash before I shop again, but you may prefer to count them as two pages.

Even using pocket pages mostly.

Now does the 50 layouts mean one pagers or two or whatever? If I fill the entire side of a page protector, I count that as one layout done. I scrap a variety of sizes and use pocket pages as well, so a full size 12x12 layout counts the same as a completed 6x8 pocket page for me.

Yes, for me, 50 pages would be an entire album (give or take a few pages). I would be thrilled to finish an album without buying anything.

Now does the 50 layouts mean one pagers or two or whatever? however you decide to count them works - some do it one way, some another, some count a certain number of cards as equivalent to a layout, some don't Personally - since I track annual layouts...I count each actual page regardless of whether it is a single page layout or half of a double layout
