Yes, this is for card making. For the Scrappy Tails pop up storefront card. The rubber band makes it pop up instantly as soon as the recipient pulls it out of the envelope.
I can’t find 4 inch by 1/16 inch rubber bands. Jennifer McGuire, who did the video that caught my interest, said she just used one she had on hand.
3.5 inch are common and easy to find, but they are too tight for the mechanism. I have emailed Scrappy Tails, but my DD is visiting, and she goes home on Saturday. We started to make the cards and realized that the “assorted“ rubber bands I had bought had NO 4 inch rubber bands in it.
We’d like to finish our cards before she goes home. We can’t do a lot of running around hunting due to both of us having physical limitations, so I am hoping someone here can help steer us in the right direction if we need to go to a brick and mortar store locally.
I spent about 2 hours checking Amazon without success. If Amazon doesn’t have it, I’m concerned that no local stores do either. Why would they make a card mechanism for a rubber band that is hard to find?

So, I looked on Staples.com and noticed that their bands were in sizes (#64 etc). I got bored zooming in on the photos of the bags to read the dimensions, so I started googling “standard rubber band sizes”. The first two I looked at had nothing between 3 1/2 and 5. Then I found a Thai rubber company that didn’t list those numbered sizes, but listed all the bands they made in both inches and millimeters, including a 4” or 100 mm one. Maybe it’s a more common size in Europe?
Searching Amazon for “100 mm rubber bands” gets a hit — says that’s size #34. Searching THAT on Amazon yields mostly 3 1/2 inch size 33s, but also at least one other bag of #34s.

Simon Says Stamp seems to sell every non-craft item Jennifer features. Bet they will have some for sale soon enough.

If anyone finds and wants to split a pack, I’d love to get some as well (I have the same die). The packs I’m seeing on Amazon have way more rubber bands than I can use.

Please note that nowhere does it say that they're 4" rubber bands. But when you commented that SSS has everything Jennifer McGuire features, I thought I'd look there for them.
Also WRMK does not have any sort of instructions for that punch board available on line, not that I have much confidence that if they did, those instructions would include information making it easy to source rubber bands elsewhere....

I also noticed that they don’t say what size the rubber bands are, but from the look of them, they don’t look like 4 inch rubber bands to me. With the help of my DD, however, who is working on the same card project alongside me, we came up with a solution: a 9 inch length of thin elastic cord from Dollar Tree, folded in half and tied in a knot, so it is a 4 inch diameter loop. It worked perfectly. Although using heavier card stock also appears required for this particular project. For those who haven’t seen the instant pop up house card that I am referring to, here is the video done by Jennifer McGuire: Scrappy Tails Pop Up House/Shop card
