Puppy Time!
And baby goats!
We picked up our Cadet on Friday morning. Headed home so he could change and relax. It's nice that we are only 15 minutes away from the program here in Central Oregon. We have had a "few" letters in the last 6 weeks, so it is super great to see him! During our time in MN during our move we lost our beloved GSD Athena to a GDV (twisted stomach) very sudden. We had to share this news and he took it well.
DS is now excited and looking forward to the move. We can thank his mentor for his encouragement. The Mentors get to see the Cadets once a month and have dinner. Their last discussion was about all the good things in MN.
I gave something to the puppy owner, so we got to see the week old goldendoodles. She also has goats, chickens, cattle, etc. It was a good visit. Today we went to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, per his request. He's been "kickin' it" with his older brother (23), doing some home repair, playing airsoft, boxing with gloves, and now frisbee golf. We are hoping DS23 will also move with us to MN, to get away from the drug culture that exists here!
DS17 is a changed kid. He is much easier to talk with, he is clean and clear-headed. He has goals and has been excelling in this program. Today he even said he wished his older brother would have done the program, he sees that much value in what he has learned!
He has 13 ribbons: red, white, blue stage, food handlers, CPR, blood drive, mentor match, Physical training (mile under 7 minutes), Academic excellence (2x w/ the small star), and good behavior (2x w/ the small bar). Can't remember the others right now, but he is very proud of his progress and accomplishments. Still keep in mind this is a kiddo who is diagnosed FASD spectrum, on a modified diploma IEP.
We say we are proud and thankful!

Love this update! When does he finish his program? When do you move for good? Is there nothing similar for his older brother?
