I couldn't have watched it at all if his southern accent had been realistic. Southern drawls creep me out. Well bless your heart! ![](http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r481/2peasrefugees/Smilies/tongue.jpg.gif)

I like this show. I haven't read any Karen Slaughter books (which I love)in a couple of years so I didn't even connect this show with those books until the second episode when I saw the credits and that that's what the show was based on. I also didn't realize his accent was supposed to be a southern accent. Right at first I thought he was trying to have an English accent but quickly decided it was just the way he talked. I couldn't have watched it at all if his southern accent had been realistic. Southern drawls creep me out. I hope this show does stay on. I really like it so far. I enjoyed the first couple of episodes. Didn't think he was trying for a southern drawl; thought maybe Hispanic almost lost b/c he was raised by non Hispanics? I was thinking his mumbling may have been part of the learning disabilities persona they were going for. I liked that angle: not every difference is a disability.
Haven't read the books either, so no prior conceptions of the character.

Sorry I don’t know anyone with dyslexia that doesn’t write or type. My husband has it and you would never know. Other people I know with it are the same. Write notes just fine. ETA. If just dyslexia why the huge secret snd shame? A lot of people have it and work with it just fine. It's not just the dyslexia. It's his entire upbringing. He was abandoned. He was horribly abused and scarred. He is generally uncomfortable around people. He keeps to himself.
