Has everyone here successfully stamped the Hero Arts fence? I stamped the Altenew lily successfully today, but I am having issues with the fence. I did not have any problems stamping the fence. I stamped twice in my TH stamping platform.

I was able to stamp the fence in my Misti. I had to double stamp and use extra pressure in the middle.

Good morning, everyone! I'm back with more (possibly stupid) questions -- thank you all for your patience!
I've never done any sort of pop up or shaped cards at all, which is probably why I'm finding the Brutus Monroe and Stamps of Life cards so challenging.
For the SoL homework, she says to fold a sheet of card stock (doesn't specify which weight) in half (doesn't specify which direction) and place the cupcake die on the fold. My temptation is to take a spare 4 1/4 x 11 100-lb top-fold card base and use that. Is that the right thing?
I know someone else upthread was struggling with the BM homework, but it was early pre-unboxing, etc, so people were avoiding spoilers, etc. I'm not entirely sure there were ever clear answers on what's what. Did I imagine seeing somewhere that he was going to do a homework video? I still haven't seen one and feel like I'm running out of time!

Decided to try the fence again with a shim and realized there really is a visible defect in my stamp:

Shakti - In the Stamps of Life class, folding and die cutting the cupcake is not part of the homework. It's the beginning of the class instruction. If you've never made one of Stephanie's folding cards before your best bet is wait until the class and follow along with her. Based on past experience with her classes, I'm sure she'll do a great job of explaining how those fold-its need to be cut. Once you see her explanation they really are simple to do.
As for the BM homework, on the Christopher Alan meet and greet from last week, someone asked about the easel card and towards the end of the meet and greet he shows how to use the dies to cut the pieces for the first card.
Hope that helps!

Thank you!
I now realize that I did look ahead into the class instructions for SoL because I was trying to interpret the "have full sheet of white cardstock nearby" -- which weight?!
I've watched a couple of the meet and greets and didn't find that they had really useful info, so I haven't prioritized them.
Probably should have had them on as background while crafting, but I generally craft in quiet. I'll take a look at the BM one asap!

Just watched the Crafters Companion Meet n Greet. Am SO looking forward to her class on Thursday. This is one I will actually be able to watch live (before my dgs arrives for the rest of the weekend) and I am excited to learn all the watercolour marker blending techniques. Planning to buy a pad of watercolour paper tomorrow, because I can envision lots of playing with it in my future!

Planning to buy a pad of watercolour paper tomorrow, because I can envision lots of playing with it in my future! I need to watch that CC meet n greet - that's the only one I haven't done anything (homework) for. We did watercolor with Distress Oxides or another brand ink in a previous event, but I don't remember doing it with markers. So fun! I did pull out the Colorista Sampler Set I got last fall in the holiday box, and also the Tri-color Spectrum Noir 3-in-1 markers we got in the last card event. i have NO Copics so I'm hoping I can use these for some of the other classes. I've set up my computer monitor on my scrap table - I hope to start when they start on Thursday, but also want to be able to pause the video if I need to. I am often looking/searching for something that was RIGHT THERE a minute ago and now is nowhere to be found LOL. I'm also a slow card maker, so no rushing for me. Now if I can just get through the next two days of work...

I need to watch that CC meet n greet - that's the only one I haven't done anything (homework) for. We did watercolor with Distress Oxides or another brank ink in a previous event, but I don't remember doing it with markers. So fun! Sara said she actually didn't WANT us to do homework for her class. The only item she mentioned we may want to have on hand is Rock Salt for a bit of a bonus technique. Some viewers suggested Kosher Salt. I plan to check my Pickling Salt to see if it has large enough crystals. Don't use anything else by iodized table salt. If the picking crystals look too small I may pick up a little sea salt when I am shopping tomorrow.

Is anyone watching the meet & greets? If so, was there anything important pertaining to class discussed in any of them? I tried to watch the Crafters Companion one but Facebook just kept buffering and it was impossible so I have not attempted any others.

I tried to watch the Crafters Companion one but Facebook just kept buffering and it was impossible so I have not attempted any others. I thought they were all great and no problems watching on replay. I still have 2 more to watch. All of them shared close ups of their cards, usually some bonus cards and tips and tricks. Like Gina showed tips for die cutting her intricate die. Altenew showed some tips on how she created some of the cards and ways to use the set. I found them all useful.

I’m slowly working my way through the meet and greets. Kim Kesti from Spellbinders showed us what part of that huge flower/vine die she considered to be the “two leaf” part needed for the green paper scrap.
Simon Hurley did mention we’ll need a water spritzer and something with texture for the foam stamp. I think I’m going to use the side of a plastic basket I have here.

I watched the Honey Bee homework video after dinner last night and did the homework this morning.
I am skipping the stamping foam part of Simon Hurley. I suppose I might change my mind after seeing it again, but I saw him work with it last year at SBC-fest and was not impressed.
I am building up a small stack of things where viewing the class is going to have to knock my socks off or I'm just not even opening the packages.

I always like the meet n greets. It think the most important part of them is when they discuss homework. I'm going to email Catherine after the event and ask if all instructions can do a quickie HW video. Even if it's easy HW because there is such a wide range of participants from new to experts.
In other news, We got hit with another storm here in my part of CA and lost power yesterday. So much flooding and lots of trees down. I'm hoping it comes back on today. {fingers crossed} So if you don't hear from me I'll just be sitting here in the dark! haha

It's a normal work@home day for me. I usually listen to sports talk radio while I work, but today I'm listening to the Meet & Greets. I will probably watch the class at 10 and haven't decided how much I'm going to try to craft along as well. I shouln't, but....
Also MINOR MIRACLE --just got an email telling me that my Hero Arts replacement, due on Monday, is OUT FOR DELIVERY TODAY!! Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I'm working today so I'll catch Crafters Companion later. I'm hoping to start my event weekend tonight with the Catherine & Gina's kickoff.
I'm really looking forward to zoning out and crafting for next couple of days!

I'm here, but I'm not starting yet.Thursdays are my day as a school based Big Brother/Big Sister and I can't miss working with my "little sister". Not even for Crop and Create! I'll pick up the Crafter's Companion class later this afternoon and then I'm full speed ahead for the rest of the weekend!

Love Sara Davies! She's fast, though. She had her card done before I got my first flower pieced together. Loving the watercolor ideas! I haven't done much with that, so am eager to try new things. Need to get some watercolor paper first.

Need to get some watercolor paper first. Loved her class, too. I started out just planning to watch and listen, but ended up playing with the watercolour pens. Then I tried the paper piecing with the hold & release sheets, and actually pieced the flowers.
Does anyone know how to emboss with a die when NOT using a Gemini? I have a Vagabond (same sandwiched as a Big Shot) and couldn't figure out how to emboss but not cut...

She did mention using folded paper towels! I'm going to experiment later when the classes are over. I have a manual Big Shot and don't have any special embossing shims.

She did mention using folded paper towels! I'm going to experiment later when the classes are over. I have a manual Big Shot and don't have any special embossing shims. I have the "tan mat" which is silicone, I think. But when I used it with the other two plates, the die cut through the cs. When I took out one of the plate, I didn't even get an impression on the cs. Still experimenting. Guess I can always Google it... If I find something that works, I will link it here.
ETA: Of course Jennifer MG has a video on this. Here is the link to her turorial I tried this on waatercolour paper, without the rush of trying to follow Sara's class, and it worked: 1. base plate 2. cutting plate 3. silicone mat 4. watercolour pp 5. die 6. cutting mat.

New stamp arrived. It looks so different that I can't believe I thought the first one would work.
