From what I read, subscribers will be able to log in on mobile devices like phones, tablets, and laptops - just not on other televisions. A lot of vacation rentals we use require you to log into your own accounts. If true, this will be annoying. This is going to be our issue. We're in a different hotel or airbnb every week so we're either logging in on their device or using the firestick but it's never a consistent location. Hopefully they take people with transient work situations into account.

I think they said it has to be the same ip address. We have multiple networks in our house and wondering if that will effect anything. We are probably one of the few accounts that isn’t shared. It was hacked at one point snd I only found out because you could see your watch history snd I noticed stuff that no one here was watching. They have taken that away so no idea to know if my account is really only us. I assume so as I haven’t noticed any did you log into a new device that wasn’t us but you never know.
I think it’s going to be a pain for those that travel as many do this and are legitimately on the account.

We have a farm shop that is about a half mile from our house. We have a nice loft that we watch TV and have parties. If I have to pay extra to have my Netflix there, I will not be happy, and I will not do it. We have it on our smart TV. This is us. We have our home and then we have DH's man cave that is downtown where we have parties and get togethers. If I have to pay for extra so he can watch tv down there then we will just drop it. We don't watch it often at home and even less often down at the man cave.

I’m all for this. I thing that “household” is clear, and means people that currently live in your house.
If people weren’t sharing passwords accounts between multiple households, it would probably be a lot cheaper for the rest of us, and they wouldn’t have to be cracking down now, which is causing issues for people who travel on a regular basis, or have multiple homes. I hope other streaming services follow suit.

So we pay for 4 profiles/lines/devices (not sure what term they use) so each of our family members is covered, but we live separately. Is that no longer allowed? It’s not clear to me. Exactly, I believe I pay for 4 screens. If they make me add users, I'll decrease screens

I just wonder how it is going to affect people using Netflix when travelling. DH and I have a shared account, as we live together, but he is often away from home and so logging in from a different location. Will Netflix think that is an ‘additional’ user? From what I read, subscribers will be able to log in on mobile devices like phones, tablets, and laptops - just not on other televisions. Does that mean if the account holder is at a hotel, they can not use Netflix on the tv?

From what I read, subscribers will be able to log in on mobile devices like phones, tablets, and laptops - just not on other televisions. That would screw us over because we use our subscription at home and at our lake cabin but we don’t stream through our devices because we have smart TVs in both places with different IP addresses due to having different internet services. It’s annoying because we’ve been subscribers since the very beginning when they were still mailing out DVDs.

We have a military cell phone plan that gives us free netflix. I wonder how this will impact us. My son could be anywhere and want to log yet our home is his home base.

Does that mean if the account holder is at a hotel, they can not use Netflix on the tv? You may have to go through an extra step to prove you are the account holder, and as long as the number of devices currently logged on does not exceed your limit, you should be ok.

I think AppleTV has already done this. My sister gave me her account info so I could watch "See:". I went to in to watch something else and got a screen that wanted a code to be sent to verify. So I just told her when the new season of Foundation drops, I'll sub for a month myself.

Will that mean my college students won’t be able to use my Netflix anymore? I find that irritating but I guess they’ll find it more so when they have to pay up themselves.

This will be interesting and I wonder if they won't possibly lose customers over it. I have a 4 screen account. I could definitely cut back because there is no way the 3 people beside me who have the password would ever be on at the same time. But I keep the 4 screens figuring i've got others on my account so I should pay more.
But the thing is if they don't allow the sharing, then I likely wouldn't keep it because I don't watch much. The others probably wouldn't subscribe either, therefore, Netflix will lose the account altogether.

My college kids use my account, but they sign in on their laptops as far as I know.
If they can't use it, I'd drop it unless Stranger Things,, Manifest, or Wednesday has dropped

I think they are going to lose people. I also think that there will be a lot of people who disable their accounts and re-enable for a month at a time just to watch a new season of a favorite.
With all of the streaming services out there now, other than the "originals" you can find just about anything somewhere else eventually.
I have a college student who uses mine, but she only watches on her tablet so that shouldn't be an issue from what I am understanding.
I'm also one who's been a member since the mailed DVD days!

Just last week I was listening to a business channel in the car and they were discussing the Netflix announcement. There is speculation that streaming services in general are thinking about dropping new seasons one episode at a time, rather than all at once. I believe Disney+ does this already with some shows. And the reason is to help prevent as much of the enabling an account for just a month at a time. We are not bingers so it won't matter to us, but I know many who are that wouldn't be happy with a change like that.

My apple+ expires soon and I will wait for a couple of shows I like to drop all episodes then add it for a month. I hate this model. Netflix now will split seasons of some shows snd I wait for all to drop as I like to binge. We have Paramount+, Hulu and Disney and currently will keep for the year as we have the Black Friday deal.

They did it with Lucifer, Grace and Frankie, Manifest (I think) and I think there were a few others as well. I really hope they don’t go to a weekly format. I have so many things on my list and I am so far behind right now that it won’t affect me as I will watch other things but still it’s annoying. I often forget to go back and watch - still haven’t finished Lucifer or Manifest.
