I am trying to get organized for an LSS sale. I have to price everything, but then just drop it off and get store credit for what sells. I've already got a banker's box full of stuff to get rid of.

Count me in. I am desperately trying to get a handle on the amount of stuff I have. I participated in an LSS sale last year. I had three boxes of stuff and managed to sell two of them. It was great and I am gearing up to participate again this year.
Happy to check in on this thread regularly and see if we can share ideas, accomplishments, and motivate each other.
I think my garage sale will be in the spring or summer, so I am hoping to slowly chip away at the prep. So far, I have determined that I am "done" with one collection, as in used most of it and am ready to part with the rest. I have packaged it up and priced it.

I think I posted about this in 2022 goals, and frankly not much has changed! I am still struggling with my scrapbook space after a lot of change, too much to go into but I had to downsize hugely, I wasn't upset about it, but it made a big difference in how I scrap and how much I can leave out, plus now I have my work and scrapbook space in one spot, so I can't seem to separate the two. My boss would freak out if they could see my "real" workspace instead of the zoom background, paper everywhere, stamps everywhere, dies, ink, scraps, photos...it's a right mess. I don't know how much I need to downsize my stuff, I have not brought anything new into my space in a month except a free scor-pal and that slid easily into the Kallax. Someone said on here that things should be easier to put away than they were to take out, and I think that is 2/3 my problem. Putting away is so hard for me. That translates into my life too, if I am being honest. My space always looks cluttery. Not dirty, I clean A LOT, but untidy. I will be watching this thread and hoping someone who is (as DH puts it, "a neatnick") comes along and give me magical advice. PS. DH also hates putting things away, so we're terrible. Clean laundry on the couch for a month? No problem.

kmage - I think it's important to think about what works for you as far as storage. Are you someone that needs to see all the things or you forget they exist? Or are you someone who finds too much visual clutter overwhelming and would prefer it not all to be in view? Also - do you think big picture (all the writing implements together, all the stamps together...) or small picture (all the pens of this kind together and then all the ones of that kind together OR all the reds together, all the yellows together). Once you figure that out - you'll know if you need open (or clear) storage or closed (or opaque) storage. And you'll also know how deeply you need to organise. Think about how you look for stuff? I look by theme or colour typically so the majority of my things are sorted and stored that way. But that wouldn't work for some one who looks by manufacturer or collection. Everyone is going to have a different setup that works for them. I like to have everything within reach when I'm sitting at my desk so I have two Alex units with a desktop as my desk and behind me is a Kallax with the old Recollections cubes on top. All my stuff (except albums) is in/on the Kallax or in/on my desk (except my Ohuhu markers - they are currently under the desk). I don't like visual clutter so everything has a home and I clean up between layouts - which is easy to do because I can put everything away from my chair. I generally only have to reach for an item or open a drawer and then reach for an item. Only a few things are in closed containers - I have 4x6 iris boxes for random embellishments by colour and I have a box for eyelets and brads by colour. now that said -I definitely have some areas where I need to re-organise and/or purge because while they work, they could work better. I can only speak from my experience with the people in my life, but I have noticed that some people are cleaners and others are organizers. My best friend cleaned all the time, but she had stuff everywhere. It made me so uncomfortable. I probably clean less often than you do because when I clean, I have to take everything off every surface, clean the surface and the stuff, and then put it back in an organized way, so it's a huge undertaking. Don't get me wrong, I clean, but I hate it. Organizing satisfies something in my brain that needs order, so it doesn't feel like a chore to me. I also tend to have less stuff lying around because the more things I have, the more stuff I have to move to clean. Does that make sense?

some people are cleaners and others are organizers I agree - I'm definitely more of an organiser. My house is clean (sanitary) but not dusted as often as it should be

Glad to see people joining in. I really do just have too much stuff. I pulled down a shoebox of pocket cards (I like to use them for quick notes) and it was so nice to have them all organized. I could just flip through them till I found one I wanted to use. But I also have an Artbin satchel of pocket cards, unorganized. Really, how many do I need???

that would be a great start. I know I've found in the past that going through stuff once, I find the low-hanging fruit so to speak - the easy to decide to let go of. And then a while later, I can go back through the same stuff and find more that I'm ready to let go. So even if you end up with two shelves after the first round...you may find that you can reduce to one on a future round.

I am already very organized. My issue is when I take things out, I *might* want to use this, or that, or maybe that, or maybe this, or these, etc... all the stuff I took out ends up in a "to be put away" pile and that pile sits there for a week or two....or a month before it gets put back where it belongs. A place for everything, and everything in it's place.......unless of course if it's sitting in a pile.

For (left-brained) me, organizing may be the most fun aspect of the hobby! While I always "clean" as I go as a stall tactic for time to consider choices in the next step of my layout process, it keeps my space neat & organized. I also reduce clutter with a designated donation box in my craft room for unwanted paper scraps, embellishments, & tools. Before any supply enters my organization system, pieces (e.g. individual stickers/ephemera/stamps) that I don't intend to use for whatever reason (e.g. color/style/size/font/sentiment) are tossed into this donation bin. Once full, I donate its contents to a local charity (recently, an after school art program for at-risk students).

Small progress. I was determined to not put anything in its place until I logged it into AirTable. but that was just taking too long. Tonight, I moved the SU stamps I could find (I'm pretty sure I have some in another box), into one of the DVD bookcases. In doing so, I found two duplicates, ugh, that I will sell at the LSS garage sale. I know I didn't pay full price for them, but still... So far, they all fit in one bookcase, including the old wood mounted ones, with a little room to spare, yay! And I rearranged my wood stamps and found a few to get rid of.

I started purging my room last April when I moved my scrap room upstairs to my den, but my purge pile is still sitting on a guest room bed collecting dust. I need to add to it and then sell it on kijiji. I've had success selling a big box of supplies for $75 or $100 where I live, so I'll try that. It's all just such a pain but I know it has to be done.

scrapperal, this is another thread that I'll be watching for inspiration. I don't want to commit to long-term organizing (setting myself up to fail but will try to do little bits at a time. Another thread started by blemon was about weekend goals and it really did encourage me to tackle a couple of things. While I don't really like cleaning OR organizing I need to do quite a bit of each. Hoping this post will spur me on. Thanks for the friendly shove in the right direction.

scrapperal Thank you for taking up the mantle of this type of thread. I did the organizing thread for challenges for 2 years . . . but life is changing, and I need to prepare to go another direction.
Right now I am decluttering, packing, and purging my DS's (and DH's) room of legos and toys. We are most likely moving 1700 miles. I may be designing a whole new scraproom that is surrounded in windows and is the front entry way for our hopefully new home. Offer is in, but not accepted yet. We will be going from 4,000 sq ft to just over 2,500 sq ft. But the view is absolutely gorgeous on a lake in MN.
After I am done with the "playroom" which I have about 40 hours already in, with 6 medium boxes of built lego sets packed, and another 1 or 2 to finish. Then on to the models of cars and airplanes. Purging will be the name of the game in all the rooms! Donating, trashing, etc. All part of the plan.
For me, I need to organize by types of embellishments. I've been scrapping since 1998 so 25 years of supplies. I have gone back and used some of my old supplies to make really fun layouts or cards. I am one that has stated it should only take three moves to get to what you want. With that in mind I will be purging more and thinking about how my stash will be stored after we move! Bookmarking this thread!

I bought the cutest little drawers that fit perfectly in a hutch. Not sure what is going in there though. I have a basket I throw things in and it is full. That's my next job.

I actually have most of my stash organized in a way that works really well for me. I dont have tons of stash and really only keep what I think I'll use. Last year I really got a good hold on my papers, die cuts and PL cards ---- though I probably could weed through the die cuts again and weed them some more.
This year, I really want to get a good handle on inks, dies, and stamps. I've started using @legallady stamp binder system but still have a bunch to add to it.

I’m in. I’m currently cleaning up and reorganizing supplies. This has turned into reorganizing my crafty space as well. Then last night my old, faithful pixma 922 finally died on me. RIP my favorite printer that lasted a decade easily. I have a new printer already sitting here so I’m going to continue to mice around stuff.

I did a good clean-up of my scrappy stuff this weekend - pulled a gallon bag of things to donate. Dumped out the mess of eyelets and brads and put them back into colour order; cleaned up my scraps envelopes, and re-organised my Kallax and Alex drawers.

I pulled out a little stack of stamps and dies that aren't really my style several months ago but got hung up on what to do with them... so for now they're tucked away on a shelf waiting for a decision/action. I've already taken the photos to sell them or offer them free - I just need to actually decide to do it, or to donate them and be done with it. I know what I could or should do with them but my brain is still having hang ups about following through on it, so I decided to treat the shelf as a quarantine box for now. It got the excess out of my way, at least.

You can also see if your local thrift store accepts scrapbooking donations - I just bought some scrapbook stuff at a Goodwill. If there's a Buy Nothing group in your area, you could offer them up there. If you're willing to mail - you could see if anyone here wants them for the cost of shipping.
