Thanks for posting joblackford! The link actually worked for me (for once) and I will watch the decluttering for beginners in a bit.

I'm disappointed it's one where the "premieres" are staggered throughout the day so I can't just get online at 9am and watch what I want for the day. I agree - I think I'll end up watching less because of this

Thanks for posting joblackford ! The link actually worked for me (for once) and I will watch the decluttering for beginners in a bit. Yay! Dana is awesome if your brain works a certain way, and maybe even if it doesn't. She came up with a system that works for her and she's sticking to it, so all her content is the same thing over and over (and over and over). I actually admire that, no flip-flopping or trying to make it more complicated. You just have to actually DO the process I hear her voice in my head all the time and it does help me a lot.

Day 1 of the summit and I'm getting tired from watching some of these powerpoint presentation/lectures... I'm listening while crafting but still, yawn. I hope the last couple I have saved will be more engaging.

Tracy McCubbin's talk was very tightly edited and had a lot of really valuable ideas. I was about to take a nap in my chair watching some of the others but she woke me up. Recommended. It's viewable until 7pm ET on Tuesday.

Day 1 of the summit and I'm getting tired from watching some of these powerpoint presentation/lectures... I'm listening while crafting but still, yawn I'm listening while cleaning out my email inbox and cleaning up my hard drive but yes...there is a lot of rambling and repetition. Dana White - nothing new there but I liked the review April Perry - this one could have been so much shorter and more organised but I did take away some useful tips esp. about next action and zero inbox Ashley Brown - I ended up turning this one off... Katy Joy Wells - her thoughts on our clutter/value lens was worth the listen for me Carla - some good points esp. on things to look for to declutter Pamela Henkleman - a bit too religious for me but I liked the seasons of life and changing identities parts

linda, thanks for the reviews! It is very helpful to have a curated list to watch/listen to.

There are a couple of decent craft space decluttering videos today. Nothing groundbreaking, but you never know what will inspire a change... I found most of yesterday's ones irrelevant to me. dropping the link again GOHQ schedule

turns out some of the sessions I wanted to watch weren't on the schedule I was looking at. They were the live keynotes that streamed ?somewhere? in the evenings, so I missed them. I have no idea why they weren't highlighted/teased on the "what's showing now" schedule. I guess I should've printed the pdf and joined the Fbk group and signed up for text reminders (nope). Even though I know I didn't miss anything these people haven't shared all-day, every-day on their YT channels, at the end of the summit I feel kind of let down. I won't bother next year.

A couple years ago I separated my embellishments into color. I then decided it wasn’t for me and stopped doing it. I still however have the boxes. This week I went through them all and got rid of what I won’t use and only kept what I loved. It’s a more manageable amount of stuff so I am hoping to use it.

Quoting myself because they put the sessions I missed into an “encore day” so I will get to watch them today. If you joined the summit and got burned out or ran out of time, the email today has links for the star YTer’s reruns. I did watch a couple of sessions that were very good that are not on the list, but just watching today’s replays will get you about 80% of what was worth watching from the summit IMO.

This was my first year watching GOHQ summit and I really appreciated the variety of presenters. I think the best part of these things is exposure to different content creators.
I was happy to find some of the presenters addressed the effect of chronic illness and pain on productivity. Many of the suggestions were already known to me but I really appreciated the reminders after abandoning many of my best practices to get through university.

Big shoutout to joblackford. I didn't get to watch as much as I hoped, but was able to watch a lot more thanks to her links. One speaker talked about removing items from their packaging (she was talking about decluttering the bathroom) and that is just not something I do. BUT, in my quest to organize my Quickutz, I was wondering why I kept the packaging, even though I now store my QK in half-size binders. I think it stems from, if-I-ever-want-to-sell-this-it-will-sell-better-in-the-original-packaging syndrome. Maybe that was true in the QK heyday, but I don't think it matters now. So I cut up the QK packages to use as dividers. Win-win! Packages gone and I don't have to buy dividers. One small step in the right direction.

I watch way too many decluttering advice videos but you never know when something will trigger a realization like that. It’s often in response to a “yeah, nah, I’m not going to do that” too. I have some packaging that I should just get rid of too. I was planning to sell some items but after a year of not actually doing it I realized I just don’t want to, so why keep original packaging when I’m just going to gift or donate things. I tell myself it’s not much, but all those ‘not much‘ things add up to a decent chunk of real estate. I went through some stuff during the drawer organizing session and realized I could declutter beading threads and findings, which actually led to a bundle of stuff getting recycled, given away, or put away in a spot nearer where I use it. It was that thing that Dana says about actually looking at each item in turn - seeing the supplies together it all seemed useful, but looking closely most of it was unnecessary. OK, I’m going to go look at my packaging hoard now!

One small step in the right direction. awesome - I think that whole 'sell better in the original packaging' is a hold-up for a lot of us...but are we more concerned with a possible future for the item or with making it more usable for us NOW? Exactly! I had kept a bunch of packaging thinking I might change my mind about how I was storing it, perhaps... I did actually put a set of stamps back in their packages because the branding will make it easier for me to find them. But I had consolidated a lot of dies onto one magnet sheet - all the random words together, all the ones for gift card notches (which I never use! oops) - and there's no way I'm going back to having each element in one package. I tossed them all. I just retrieved some paper die envelopes from the recycle bin though, because it suddenly occurred to me that most of them are dies I should consider decluttering. When they're integrated into my stash they are fine, but looking at each envelope I had that sinking feeling that they didn't turn out to be as useful as I expected and I haven't used them in ages. I think I will give myself a use-it-or-lose-it deadline and donate some of them in their envelopes, since I still have them.

I get the heebie-jeebies every time I see the title of this thread because I've been ignoring the need to organize and declutter my crafty supplies so badly. But I decided I need to just start somewhere. I read all five pages of this thread today. Then, I ran across Nicole Bingaman (aka coliebing and bingaling)'s YouTube video, Craftroom Cleanout, and I feel SO inspired to get to work. My biggest issue is more stuff than space. I have half of my supplies in a Kallax and rolling cart in the guest room, 25% in shelves in an office I share with my husband, and 25% in plastic bins in my closet and garage shelves. I definitely need a big destash. I think I'll start with my office desk drawers and shelves. Thank you to all who have posted in this thread! Wish me luck!!

I wish the best of luck and my only advice is go slow, start small and work when the mood is there.

So, I participated in Pinkfresh's Connect and Create (or vice versa?) this weekend and my space is a mess of craftermath. But it is also just a mess. I was so impressed by someone's FB post of their project with one tray dedicated to each of the weekend's classes -- mine is literally a completely different in-progress project or event on each tray! And the closet makes Fibber McGee's look organized! And it's also my home office and today's a W@H day.
But my specific current dilemma/question is this: there is a large box in the closet, along with some ancillary clutter, that all containers and organizers that I am not currently using, but once did and might again. It seems irrational to be keeping them is such a "hot" space, although it has been nice to be able to just reach in and grab the perfect container for some thing that just arrived or whatever. Our basement is so cluttered that I am reluctant to move them down there lest they become part of that general clutter (which my DH has been known to get a bug up and trash things out of on occasion). Am I the only one with a whole container of containers? If not, where do others keep them so that they don't disappear from the mind (leading to duplicate purchases) but aren't in the way? If I am the only one, maybe I need to get over it and find a way to convince myself to declutter it.

Shakti - not crafty specific but I do have shelves in my garage where I keep empty containers and organisers and we 'shop' there first when we need something new or again.

First off, linda, thank you for reassuring me that I am not completely nuts for saving these things. Second--Interesting thought. The garage, I mean. i think there is one largely empty shelving unit where the oil tank used to be. I'll have to go check that out. I will wish for a big plastic bin instead of a cardboard box for anything stored there, though.

Shakti I have a Sterilite tote full of organizing items. I shop there first. So, no, you are not alone! I have it in a storage closet.
