I just turned 45 last month. I've been dealing with crazy periods since last year. I was terrible about keeping track so I downloaded a free app and have been tracking since March. It confirmed what I thought and when I went to see the doctor I handed him my phone and told him to "fix this". I've been a patient of his for the last 11 years so we have a great relationship. I'm being referred for an ablation after the first of the year.
I agree with a pregnancy test just to make sure.
Other things to look forward too
worsening vision facial hair

You probably don't want to hear my friend's story but........... Last child started freshman year at college just as my friend took a pregnancy test and it was positive. She cried for the entire pregnancy then had a beautiful baby. All was well, surprised but all was well

Ditto on the whole vacation thing! I went 11 months, I repeat, 11 months! without a period. I went on vacation and all bloody hell broke loose! It was awful! We were traveling by car and I made dh stop every hour so I could use the restroom. I sat on an old blanket just in case. Why does our body do that to us?

I have it for you. We aren't suffering too badly from it so be thankful. Just feel kind of tired.
Are you pregnant? LOL ok not laughing as this is serious.
Someone in my prenatal class was 48 when she had her daughter about 20 years after she had her 2 boys. Yeah. It was a surprise.

I had a stretch of several months without one this past year. And like someone else said, when it finally decided to grace me with its presence...oh holy heck!
Then I had a few months with basically just spotting, but nice and on schedule, and then a few month vacation again. I just had a "normal" period this month. Who knows when I'll have one again.

I'll be 43 next week and my last few cycles have lasted 29/30/27/38/27 and 29 days. I'll admit the 38 day cycle had me a little worried! I can SO relate! I'm 40 & here have been my past few cycles: 25, 26, 28, 43 (!!!), 27, 27. On the 43rd day of that one cycle, I finally broke down & peed on a stick. Four hours later, my period showed up with a vengeance. Fun, fun.

My periods were never regular from the time I was 12 until I (hopefully) started perimenopause. Never had a clue when I would start. The last several years I can almost count down to the day and be right. Now I'm 52 and no end in sight yet. That's why I'm hopeful I've hit perimenopause. The rate I'm going nothing has started yet!
