Today's shape challenge is similar to last week in that we're going to put a shape into the background - but ONE or TWO *big* shapes, not small repeated shapes. You could use a patterned paper with a circle/wreath already printed on it. You could cut out a large shape. You could create your big shape out of multiple smaller shapes. As long as the big shape is not simply matting a single photo, but is adding to the design of your page, it counts. For example, on this 2 pager I used a big tag, then echoed the tags around in clusters: layout size wise (birthday 22 jake) by kirstendrew, on Flickr This one is a simple rectangle that houses the main elements, and a large flag shape to ground the photos: layout booster bravery by kirstendrew, on Flickr And this is a classic - a wreath layout created on a patterned paper! layout bow down before the candy altar by kirstendrew, on Flickr And here is multiple strips creating 4 individual squares that then turn into the "diamond" shape behind the photos layout like father unlike son by kirstendrew, on Flickr The twist is to use: circles, tags, hexagons, triangles or squares - but once you use one of these, scratch it off your list and you have to choose from the others!

Amazing sample LO's, kitbop! Love in the Gallery. And another great challenge. Based on your first LO, I think I can use this tomorrow to scrap the photos I have on my scrap counter. Every time I think I am finished an album, I find another set of photos that would fit nicely into it. It won't be tomorrow, but I also really want to lift that design with torn paper strips making up the squares in the background.

Here is my take on this challenge. Petting Farm fun by Gramma Dee, on Flickr I had fun playing with these photos from last summer and all my Simple Stories and 49&Market farm themed pieces. Thanks, kitbop for giving me a new way to scrap them.

goforitgame by BreetheFlea, on Flickr This is try #2 to do this game justice Originally the background squares were smaller and I tried to match the font to the one used on the board game box, but it wasn't working. I probably should have just used a photo of the box as the title... I took photos of the money from the game (I didn't want to stick the vintage stuff to my page) and printed it on cardstock (I don't have a color printer.) The dice, pawn and word stickers are from Simple Stories. I'm still meh about the page, but for now, it's done and going in the album. I did like making the background out of squares to match the game colors, that was fun ETA: it's funny how you don't think you need to iron your layout until you see it on the computer.

Here's my large shape. I've seen a load of these large hexagon layouts pass through my fb feed recently so this is a total scraplift.
