The article in The Hill linkI have to admit I didn’t see this person as a choice. The choices are listed in order along with the % in the poll. So with this group who would be your choice? On the question that asked what political issue matters the most to you. Top four answers Economy - 27% inflation - 21% Immigration - 6% Gun Safety - 5%

I WISH it could be Hillary, but I think her time has come and gone.
I picked Mayor Pete, but … in the end, I’ll vote for whoever the primary voters choose.

Agree as well. If they think only Biden can win, I’m sure they’ll wheel him out there but only so he can take office again then defer at some point to VP or next in line.
Or even, think Nancy in those final Reagan years. Jill’s been job-shadowing for awhile now..
Just thinking out loud here

I’m about done with tired old white men making all the decisions. BUT unfortunately I think there are way too many people in this country who think that is the only people who should lead. I do not think a woman would get the votes. Although after the 45th presidency I do not want to hear that women are too emotional to lead. Because man babies are worse emotionally. I’m positive all the anti Obama shit was racism and racism has only gotten worse since then.
In a perfect world without so many of my fellow citizens being racist & misogynistic I would pick Stacy Abraham’s ( omg the reaction to that would be priceless to see ) or Pete Buttigieg or Corey Booker or Katie Porter. I personally have no qualms about Kamala Harris either, but the others have been more charismatic. I do understand she is doing her job as VP stepping back & casting tie votes etc. but if she expects to run she’s going to have to speak a bit more on what she wants to do. Come out of the shadows.
I am unaware of JB Pritzker he needs to tear a page from Chris. Christie’s book and grab himself some national attention if he wants to run.
But I fear that all those people who ‘I’m not a racist I’m not a misogynist’ people who can’t see their inner inherent biases will just fuck it all up. I have not seen any improvement in the last 2 years in terms of that. In fact what I’ve seen is a public doubling down on propping up and sustaining systemic white nationalism.
There has not been a Republican possibility mentioned anywhere that I would vote for I will not vote for Trump, Cruz, Desantis, Abbott, or Sarah Huckabee Sanders. I will not under any circumstances vote for any Trump being. Might as well vote for Putin.

Unfortunately, since 2016 I have lost my optimism about America and checks & balances and faith in my fellow citizens.
I’m now on the we are doomed bench. I wish we weren’t but that where we are.

Pete Buttigieg, definitely.
But of course I'll vote for whoever is the Democratic candidate.

I think that is a terrible list since more than half of them have zero chance in a general election.
My pick isn't on the list - Gretchen Whitmer. If she would not run, I would pick Amy Klobuchar.

The whole “xxx person doesn’t have enough experience” is what leads us to having only old white men. It’s bullshit. People in their thirties are successfully leading other countries, so why is there this ridiculous mindset that they can’t here?
A good leader will have good advisors. They don’t need to know or have experienced everything.

It's pretty sad that I have to say, I don't think anyone on that list can win a presidential election.

I didn't vote because it doesn't matter who the democratic nominee is because it will be a cold day in hell before I'd ever vote for a republican.

(although, the poll indicated that most people wouldn't vote for biden again if he ran again.)

Amy K. Is one of my senators. I absolutely love her and think she would be a great president, but I don’t think she has enough name recognition nationwide to win. I also like Pete Buttigieg, Gretchen Whitmer, Stacey Abrams and yes, Kamala Harris. I think Hillary was probably the most qualified candidate for the job in a long, long time but I doubt if she would ever consider running again. Too many people thought she had too much baggage.
I think in general most voters don’t do enough research prior to an election (especially a primary) to really know who the candidates are, which is why name recognition comes so heavily into play. Just look at how many longtime people especially in low performing, high poverty red states that keep getting voted in over and over even though they do NOTHING for the majority of the average constituents? It just baffles me how some of these clowns have stayed in office sometimes for decades. It has to come down to people just voting for the same name they know and their political affiliation regardless of whether they are doing anything to actively help their states overall.

One hundred million percent Pete Buttigieg would be my preference, followed by Kamala Harris, but I don't think your country is ready for either a gay man or a black woman.
So then the question becomes, who would be most likely to beat whatever monster the GOP puts up.

We are really screwed. I am in my 70s and I don’t think most 80+ people would have the stamina to do what Biden is doing. More power to him, but I hope someone appears out of nowhere

So then the question becomes, who would be most likely to beat whatever monster the GOP puts up. that's my biggest worry. i know how popular they are but presidential elections aren't popularity contests. i think we have learned there is a very silent majority who don't participate in polls but cast their vote. and then there is that pesky Electoral College.... i want so much to believe that the dems are holed up somewhere vetting who their best candidate will be. don't tell it come out that they have NO back up plan to biden. as much as i want to believe anyone can live to be 100, this office ages people exponentially. i'm worried what biden will be like at the end of THIS presidency much less another one. and now that the GOP has his son under the microscope, there's another bit of aging stress that will be piled on the man.

Dems are not holed up somewhere figuring this out, unfortunately. For all I will vote for them til I die because their platform most closely aligns with my views, they have nothing on the national Republican machine for messaging and organizing.

It's pretty sad that I have to say, I don't think anyone on that list can win a presidential election. Unfortunately, I agree. And yeah, I'd pretty much vote for Barney the dinosaur at this point. Now, who do I think could come closest? Kamala, Stacey, or Pete, I guess. But honestly, none of them. Who would I pick if I could pick any of them and have them win? I'm not really sure, since for the last several years it's been "vote for any Democrat left standing," and I won't profess to know the subtle differences. But probably Hilary, Pete, or Kamala. Maybe Elizabeth Warren.

When I look at a potential candidate for President or any political office I
* Want someone who can do the job.
* I understand there is no such thing as a perfect candidate or one that can pass a purity test. Because as humans that type of person does not exist.
* Want someone who can do the job.
* I understand not every candidate will agree or support everything I want and that I may not agree with everything they are pushing for.
* Want someone can do the job.
* Understand that while I believe one can do the job I also understand I may not particularly like the person. As they will never be my BFF I’m ok with that as long as I believe they can do the job.
* Want someone who can do the job
* Running for President should not be a popularity contest.
Right now Kamala Harris is not getting high marks. For reasons that are unclear.
But right now she is also getting the best on the job training to be president than any other potential candidates.

I was a huge Elizabeth Warren backer in the last primary, but my opinion is that her window has likely passed since she has not been doing enough to keep herself in the news, and she is getting older.
I really want leadership that is gen X or millenial. I think it has crippled public policy that the executive and Congress have been dominated by people who aren't in the kid-having house-buying job-panicking segment of life for a while now. I am not sure Pete Buttigieg is my choice, but I'd love someone more in that age bracket. Female would be even better. I know at some point Gina Raimundo had ambitions, but I am not sure she is going to fire up the crowds.
