If you are more of a minimalist with knick knacks, do your walls reflect this as well? I love little trinkets all over! They are my little pieces of love. I also have tons of things on my walls. 90% of the things hung on the walls are photos of family that I have taken over the years. This is what my mantel usually looks like (this photo is several years old).

I have hardly any photos on my walls. One in my bedroom. I think that's it. I mainly have art that we've collected.

No wall hangings no knick knacks.
However if I were to take photos or video of my home there would be absolutely nothing minimalist about it! I hired an organizer for my birthday last year and she did an hour consult jaw to the ground walking from room to room and then refused even the consultation fee payment.
Love your mantle by the way!

I used to have clocks. I had a clock on every wall basically. That way you never had to turn your head to see what time it was.
Now, I have one clock, a picture I painted on my bedroom wall, and a couple of calendars. Nothing else. I have 1 frame that has 3 openings for each of my kids, but that sits on the counter. All my other photos/frames are packed in storage. All my knick knack stuff that I used to have on my walls in my prior life...all gone. I had one big garage sale, and whatever was left over, I donated to an animal rescue place.

I have very little on my walls and very few knick knacks, I think we only have 3 family photos on display, and those are small. My Mum is the opposite, she loves lots of things on walls/counters/etc. - I think that's maybe why I don't like it. I grew up in a home with a lot of beautiful antiques, which you could look at but could never touch.

I have mirrors on most of my walls. I have two paintings in my house. One in the dining room and one in the guest bedroom. And our tv is mounted on the wall in our family room.

My house is small, and most walls have furniture (curio cabinet, book cases, desks, etc.)
In the living room I have a vintage framed print of the Gare d'Orsay, a television, and a painting of DS. Dining room is a line drawing of me in Elizabethan costume done by an artist friend, and two enlarged photographs of DS as a silly child. Since dining room is also DH's office, there is a calendar next to a large hanging mirror.
Bedroom 1 has a triptych of square framed prints by my aunt hung in a horizontal row over the bed, a television, and a mirror. Bedroom 2 (DS's room) has 14 lacrosse sticks (!) on laxracks, a vertical shelf of helmets, and a coat rack. There are also taped up posters.
Hallway has a painting by my aunt and a painting by my great-grandmother (in matching frames, and my aunt's is a modern take on my great-grandmother's landscape.) I'm planning on hanging some family photos, and have the frames, but have to get around to it.
Bathroom has yet another framed piece of art by my aunt and a Whistler repro etching (found in the back of an art book in a thrift store dated to the early 1900s.)
It is a royal hodge-podge, and I'm going to fix it up someday (someone please gift me an around-to-it...)
(ETA- kitchen has two vintage food labels in frames hanging over doorways. All other walls have closed shelving. And in dining room over the door to the kitchen is a ceramic plaque from Italy that says Cucina that was a gift from my mother.)

In the main areas I have mirrors, art, or sconces on the walls. My craft room is a little more personal with a few pictures hung and I have a picture square framed collage in our bedroom

A few prints from an artist I like in Maine. Some framed Audubon bird prints from my grandparents. Two gorgeous prints of sailboats that my husband loves. Then thee are the six framed physics book covers. They're books I've worked on, and the colors are pretty .

we have art and collectibles on our walls... mostly Southwestern themed, to go with our overall decorating scheme. My BF bought two large giclees years ago, and they're on the walls, along with various smaller items including Native American sand painting tiles, a dreamcatcher, yarn Gods-eye that my BF made when he was little, framed cross-stitch pictures (desert landscapes) my Mom made us, that sort of thing. We also have a Black Forest German cuckoo clock (soooo not Southwestern, lol! but we both love it) and a few other family-heirloom type items here and there. Just a couple personal photographs, though-- most of the items are other types of artwork.
(edited to add: we have a lot of windows in our house, so we don't really have any large expanses of wall space to make a gallery wall, or anything like that, so most of our wall-hung items are on the smaller scale.)

I've thought about buying that vinyl word art to add a little something, but the choices don't fit my personality. "LIVE.LAUGH.LOVE" isn't me or my husband. It would need to be something like "WINE.NETFLIX.BURRITOS"

Most of our walls are bare. I plan on doing a gallery wall in my living room. I have 9 frames to hang to get me started. My daughters have a lot on their bedroom walls. Posters, photos, memo boards, jewelry box, shelves, and drawings. I prefer bare walls in my bedroom.

Pretty much nothing (though I have a print on the dining room wall that I really love). There are a few reasons for this: 1. I have no decorating abilities whatsoever, and am indecisive. 2. I don't particularly enjoy decorating and I'm too lazy to shop/search out things 3. My dh is super picky, and any time I have attempted to put something on the walls, he hates it. I'm perfectly OK with having him decorate, as we do have similar tastes (though I am far less particular), but he's just as lazy as I am.

Kitchen: - 4 recipe art prints I made - a large 20x30 photo I took at the beach a few years ago mounted in an exploded fashion on small canvases in a larger frame - a framed pencil drawing of my husband's college campus - set of three carved wood screens - a couple of shadow boxes with staggered B&W pictures - a metal oil pan where my daughter hangs her art projects Dining room: - 3 frames with baby pictures of my daughter (small pictures, large mats) - mirror - 3 doilies my great grandmother made, framed Living room/entryway - larger mirror over fireplace - set of three frames that I change art in all the time (right now I have Christmas art) - a signed soccer poster framed - a couple of framed pictures from Disney - collage of engagement pictures - a couple of frame of pictures of my daughter Bedroom: - chalk prints framed in oversized frames/mats - mirror (I use with my vanity) Hallway: - 3 wedding pictures - a couple of art/photographs we received as wedding gifts - a picture of some mountain landscape Daughter's room: - 2 glittered butterfly cards, framed with oversized mats - a frame with three openings with different punched cardstock mounted inside: butterflies, hydrangea, birds. I used the cards from her baby shower - white paper die-cut butterflies mounted to the wall (I didn't want anything heavy over her crib and I just haven't flipped her room into a big girl room) - book ledges behind her door Sounds like a lot but it doesn't seem that way. And I don't care for tons of stuff!

I have lots of pictures - old family photos, a few nice paintings, old botanical prints, travel posters, photos that I've taken put on canvas etc. on my mantelpiece I have some pieces of Moorcroft pottery that I collected over the years. Other than that, not a lot of Knick knacks standing out but I do have things displayed in a china cabinet.

We almost always buy some type of art on our trips. We started with a tiny painting that we bought from a painter along the Seine when we were goofy kids and didn't realize it was knock off of a semi-famous artist. We have some baskets woven in Africa hung with some Masaai necklaces. We also have an interesting ironwork piece we brought back from Spain. Looking around 7 different walls on the main level feature something we picked up from our travels, although sometimes it's mixed with something totally different. There's an old violin from Austria hung with other instruments in the music room - the other instruments actually work. None of it is terribly expensive, and I'm sure the eclectic mix breaks all kinds of design rules. But it's meaningful to us, and that's all that matters to me.
I have a few photos on my desk in the office and next to our bed - I don't have any family pictures on the walls.

Big clocks and photos/paintings of family. I also have a HUGE dandelion decal in my living room that I love. I love this! We have one big wall that is empty in our living room that reminds me of this. And I've been trying to figure out what to do with it. It has a baseboard heating unit on it, and it is my preference not to put too much furniture in front of them if possible. Plus, the arrangement of furniture that we prefer in that room just lends itself to that wall being empty of furniture. I was trying to find a series of long narrow pieces of art to hang there, but the decal idea may be one I could really like if I can find the right design. Thanks for sharing.

Nothing! Everything is still boxed up ... But I did buy something for one of my walls recently. I found a huge matted (double matted, acid free, black core!) and framed poster at Savers for only $10 I'm getting rid of the poster that's in it (some soccer player) and my DDs and I are going to create something of our own to go in its place. Then it's going to hang over the sofa.

We recently took a taller piece of furniture out of our living room and now we have a shorter piece there, and the wall over it is bare. Well, it was bare, for about 24 hours. Then my little artist starting hanging up every drawing he could churn out up there. Now it looks like an art gallery for the preschool set. We weren't planning on re-doing the decor in there until the New Year, so the gallery can stay for now. Then later we'll try to contain it to the area directly over his own little table.

I have art, mainly original paintings. For many years my mother owned a gallery that sold only original work, and I accumulated a lot during that time!! I love it. It brings so much life to a home.

I don't claim to be a minimalist. My walls are certainly not minimal. We have lived in the same house 34 years and if we want to put up something new, we have to take something down.
Most of our "stuff on the wall" is my dh's photography. Last year we had a new one we wanted to hang, but couldn't decide which one to take down. One day we were sitting in the den and one of the pictures fell off the wall onto a speaker and got a big dent in it. We looked at each other and said, "well, I guess that's the one!"

Dining room we have a wrought iron mirror on one wall and a Pier One metal wall hanging on the other wall. The other walls are either open or have a window. Oh wait, we do have dh’s Navy shadow box on the window wall. Not where I would have put it, but it’s important to him so that is where it goes.
The only two walls we have in our living room are not very big so we don’t have much on them. We have the TV and speakers on one wall and the fireplace and tall mantle is on the other wall. We don’t have any art on the walls just glass items on the mantle.
Going into the hallway we have a large clock on the wall. In the hallway we have two large framed pictures of bridges, The Brooklyn and Golden Gate. The other wall is dh’s wall and he has turned it into a picture wall. So it has framed family pictures all down it. The dining room, living room and hallway are all painted the same taupe color that looks really good with or without art on it.
In our bedroom we have 3 Disney prints on one wall. The dresser mirror and furniture on the other wall. We have a print and a Lion King painting above the bed and on the last wall we have a TV.
The walls in dh’s den is covered in posters, pictures and shelves. It’s his military wall. 15 yr old dd has a lot of things are her wall too, posters, pictures, art. In my scrapbook room I have a clock and then the rest of the space has bookshelves or Expedits on them. One wall has a TV and the sliding door.
In the kitchen we do have 2 framed coffee item pictures and a small coffee cup clock. That is all the wall space we have.

I went to the (pretend) school of design that teaches if you love something, it goes with the rest. This makes for a bit of an eclectic mix of items in my house.
I have a lot of antiques, but the art on my walls trends towards abstract. I have some photos, but most are black and white random photos of family-none are formal portraits. I have a pie safe that I use as a book shelf, and an old wrought iron patio table from the 50's for an end table.
So the answer to the wall question is that I am not one to buy art because it matches, I tend buy what I like and then find a place to put it.

It would need to be something like "WINE.NETFLIX.BURRITOS" I bet you could get that customized on Etsy. I wish I had more wall space. Family room has framed family photos and a framed NYC map/photo collage on the walls. The rest of the house is a mix of framed prints, wrought iron pieces, original paintings, an oversized clock and one vinyl word art phrase. Kids' rooms have magnetic bars on a couple walls so they can change out posters/photos. I took a few pieces when my parents sold their house, including a framed sketch of that house that I need to remat and find space for so will be rearranging some things in the new year.
