Yawn, another day another shooting. ‘Merica pinklady Your comment is not okay. Wrong! What is not ok is this fucking country doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over and expecting different results! Are you aware republican were passing out and wearing assault rifle lapel pins at the state of the union? The American people cannot go to school, church, the grocery store, the mall without being gunned down. The American people are the ones allowing this to happen. STOP VOTING FOR FUCKING REPUBLICANS! That’s the ONLY way to change this. So again, yawn, another day another shooting.

Sadly, this has become part of the norm in our society. People are just collateral damage for the gun worshipers in this country. I know longer wonder if it will happen to someone I know. I wonder when. We had a shooter at Target in Omaha. It appeared it was suicide by cop as he didn't shoot anyone, but the fear and terror it caused to shoppers is real. Another person with diagnoses mental illness that was able to acquire a weapon. I'm not scared of drag queens, and trans people, and books, etc. I am scared of people with guns. 1000000%

The #1 cause of death for children in the US is guns. As far as I'm concerned, college students fall right in there. Don't split hairs with me on it. I saw a reel on IG from a young lady who is a student there who is also a survivor of Sandy Hook. Several students AR freshmen who survived Oxford last year. We are the bad place. I'm angry for the trauma and loss MSU is experiencing. The trauma is so devastating. I work in life insurance. We just had a heartbreaking case where I reviewed the medical records. The person was a victim in a mass shooting. Severe PTSD, and on pain meds due to injuries. Spiraled into drug addiction. The person had gotten clean, and was trying to improve their life, but 7 years wasted due to being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Yawn, another day another shooting. ‘Merica pinklady Your comment is not okay. You know, as a non-American, this is my sentiment every time I hear of another shooting in your country. Same shit, different day 🤷🏼♀️ I’m sorry, but that’s the truth.

One party wants to save kids from drag queens and diversity programs. The other wants to save kids from the next mass shooting. We are not the same.

I can't help thinking choosing those things to target is actually meant to distract us from things like this. Of course it is. It's meant to distract people from all the harm GOP policies have done. I read today that about 1000 children are still separated from their parents after being forcibly removed from those parents under Trump. www.pbs.org/newshour/show/hundreds-of-migrant-children-remain-separated-from-families-despite-push-to-reunite-them The NRA/GOP alliance gets innocent people killed every day - a Trump-appointed judge struck down a law to remove weapons from those convicted of domestic violence because an abuser's 2nd amendment rights are more important than the life and safety of a domestic partner. www.texastribune.org/2023/02/09/guns-domestic-abuse-second-amendment/And of course god forbid an abused woman becomes pregnant and wants to end the pregnancy in a red state rather than be tied for life to her abuser. That kind of self-determination is simply not allowed. Immigrants are the enemy, drag queens, teachers, women, LGBTQ people, liberals are all the enemy to the GOP. Those who protect gun rights over the rights of innocent people just living their lives are the real enemy, but we're not supposed to notice that.

I've been in meetings all day, and the news broke after my wind-down time began last night, so I'm just now hearing about this.
And yet, in a way, I AM numb. Numb with anger, sadness, and paralyzing thoughts. First, of course, I do send my "thoughts and prayers" to the families of those killed and injured, to those injured, to the witnesses, to those who are a part of that community in any way, and to the family of the gunman. And while I don't believe they fix it all, I don't believe they are worthless.
But the next step is action, and I flat out don't know what to do any more. When Uvalde County voted Republican in the last election, it kind of sealed my hopelessness. I just don't think anything is going to change. I have no idea what else we can do. I will keep on doing what I can, I just no longer feel any real hope that there will be any change. When Republicans say the problem is mental health, but won't even do anything about that, why should I believe a bit of it?
