Thank you! Are the CK Scrapbook conventions very tightly focused on scrapbooking? Sounds like they would be...and that's the only one that's really close to me.

Thank you! Are the CK Scrapbook conventions very tightly focused on scrapbooking? Sounds like they would be...and that's the only one that's really close to me. I have been to a variety of scrapbook and stamp conventions. I am not sure if I have specifically been to a CK scrapbook convention. I don’t want to spend money for a hotel, because I’d rather spend it on stamps, dies, papers, tools, etc., so I have only attended conventions that come to my area. When I lived near DC, we got one scrapbook convention per year. Now I live relatively close to DFW, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that two to three scrapbook/stamp conventions come to this area every year. I missed the first one this year, but am hoping to go to the one in June. Every Scrapbook convention that I have gone to includes stamping and card making, along with scrapbooking. I recommend checking the vendor list ahead of time. However, the conventions have definitely shrunk in size from what they used to be. I think they are still worth attending if you live close enough to drive there in less than an hour, but I wouldn’t pay for a hotel.

All good info, thanks! The CK one is an hour or two's drive. I agree that a hotel seems out of line, though if I had local crafty friends I could see making a girls' weekend of it. The third one mbanda linked looked really interesting, but that's a six+ hour drive for me! I guess the other question I have is how/where do you find out about these events?

Shakti…I just googled scrapbooking conventions and a list came up. I decided since my area doesn’t have any I am willing to travel (I am ok flying) and book a hotel if the event looks good. The ones I have seen also offer crops so that makes them even more attractive for me.

Thank you and I'm sorry -- that really wasn't intended to be a "please can you google this for me." I was really wondering if there were web sites or other sources where people found these things. Looks like maybe craft magazines/craft magazine sites are where many of them are listed. I did find another close to home and more stamp/card oriented, but it's right around my kid's graduation/mother's visit. And I jumped into the virtual retreat thing really hard and regrettably fast. I think I will plan to go to the CK one in NH in September and them think about the other for next year maybe.

Shakti…If that was for me I didn’t think you were saying google it for me. 😃(no snark) .After I typed that I went and looked where I found the info and just included it. Sometimes when I google I am left thinking ‘is this what they meant/were talking about so I figured just listing some was better. 😃👍🏾
If you lived anywhere near me we could explore together but you mentioned NH so you are waaaayyyyy across the country from me.
I have not done any virtual/online classes…I am not sure I would love them. But perhaps should try one before committing to that thought. 😀
Happy crafting

The third one mbanda linked looked really interesting, but that's a six+ hour drive for me! I guess the other question I have is how/where do you find out about these events? The CK conventions (called GASC in my area) are a mix of scrapbooking and card making. They aren't as large as they used to be but I still like attending and sometimes even taking classes or going to the crop. I have 2 friends that go with me. The StampScrapArt tour one is definitely focused more on stamping & cardmaking but it is pretty small as well. But there were companies there that did not go to the other conventions. I'm feel lucky that all 3 of those I listed come to the Dallas area every year. I've been going to these expos/conventions for years. I found out about GASC through traditional advertising many years ago. They had an ad in the paper & billboards when they first started coming to the area (probably 15 years+ ago). Since then I follow their Facebook page plus I'm on their email list so I get updates. I also follow the Facebook pages & am on the email lists of Stamp and Scrapbook Expo and the StampScrapArt tour so I get their updates as well. I really still enjoy going to the conventions and seeing product in person. I like doing the make-n-takes and just generally being around a bunch of creative energy. It gets me motivated!!

don, how was the Expo? Are you still recovering? Did you find any treasures or take classes? I like to watch Expo/CK review and haul videos on YouTube. It helps me plan my visit.

I love Expo. I have attended for at least 10 years or more. Spent a ton this year!
I have also been going to CKC for at least 20 years. I like them both and always find lots to buy.
I also do the crops at both conventions.

Thanks to all who posted Expo love!
I have my tickets to two classes and the sales floor for the CK event in Manchester, NH at the end of September.
One is an all-occasion card class and the other is centered around a CM bow and envelope making device, which appears to be about to retire. But because I have been really wanting to do more with mini-slimline cards and held back by lack of really good envelope choices, I am hoping that it works well and I will have an easy source of envelopes in the size.
It's about an hour's drive, so I'll be making a day trip of it.

The Creating Keepsakes Convention is in Lancaster, PA this weekend, but I didn't go. It always falls the weekend of my grandson's birthday and sometimes we go and sometimes we don't. It has gotten smaller and smaller as the years have gone by. I hope you enjoy it Shakti ! Let us know!

I bailed on Expo. Stressful week at work, difficult four-hour round-trip drive in mostly pouring rain to get DK at school. DK home for a weekend visit. Felt that yoga was more important than a shopping opportunity I didn't really need at all.
The thing I was most looking forward to was that one of the other members of my Tayored Expressions group was also going, so we'd get to meet in person. But I sent her my tickets to the two classes I registered for, so she can pick up the supplies from them and we'll meet for coffee or something around here instead.
