In the description it says 'two minutes to Nike'...am I to assume Nike's headquarters?

In the description it says 'two minutes to Nike'...am I to assume Nike's headquarters? Probably. Their HQ is in Beaverton.

In the description it says 'two minutes to Nike'...am I to assume Nike's headquarters? Yes, Nike World HQ. But that's a total lie. It's more like a ten minute drive, 2.5 miles.

I agree the staging doesn't do the house justice. Maybe it's just their own stuff? Love the blue cabinetry and tiles in the bathroom, but matching the doors and other random walls is too much imho.

That has to be the owners’ things. No stager would decorate like that.

What do old people smell like? Serious question. The only "old people" smell I can think of is Old Lady Perfume, some kind of Avon scent or Tabu or something. I work with old people all the time and I truly don't get it when others say "old people smell" unless you mean mothballs or dusty unwashed people who don't routinely moisturize and exfoliate and clean their hair. Which by the way is about to be half this board since nearly every day someone posts that they "just don't care about what other people think" anymore and then proudly let us know that they have given up. Listen I may be vain but no one is ever going to accuse me of smelling like an old person! "As our skin matures, its natural antioxidant protection declines. This decline results in greater oxidation of lipid acid. When lipid acid is oxidized, the chemical compound nonenal is produced, giving off the “old people smell” that many of us are familiar with." It's a real thing! ETA: I hate everything about that house. I read about how old people smell is a real thing a few years ago and told my BFF she had to tell me when I started to smell like it. She said, “Can’t because my sense of smell will be diminished with age.” So I had to find a much younger friend and assign them that chore. They’re also my “remove my facial hair if I’m in a coma” friend.

The reno is well done, but I agree the staging is weird. It's not really eclectic, but more mish mashy. Agreed. This is the shot that really made me go 😕 It doesn't feel cohesive to me at all. Just a bunch of stuff. And since the lines of the house are so clean, I don't feel like their choices are playing up the house's assets. That was my feeling too. The individual elements don’t coordinate with each other nor do they coordinate with the style of the room itself. It’s just way too much randomness for my taste. I don’t mind if things don’t “match” exactly, but the styles should at least coordinate in some way and none of these things really do.

The house we purchased was staged with items from a staging company. It all smelled like old people. It was the first thing we noticed when we walked in. The people who lived in the house had kids and weren't too old, so I thought it had to be staged. At the closing, the seller asked about the 5K cost and asked if that was for staging. The realtor said yes. The seller kind of got screwed on that part of the sale. It was pretty poor staging. It sold fast though, so I guess it couldn't have been that bad. It didn't look anything like the homes staged for 5K on HGTV shows! Listen I may be vain but no one is ever going to accuse me of smelling like an old person! No, old people smell is definitely a thing and it’s not similar to old lady perfume which is also bad. It’s kind of a musty, dusty, closed up smell of things that never get aired out. Our rental house smells like it. We bought the house from our current renter’s mom (who was in her 80’s) so she would have funds to pay for the nursing home, and to give the renter (in her 60’s) the time she needed to clear out the house which was (and still is) a hoarding situation. Everything in that house smells like that, especially anything porous like books, papers, clothing, curtains, upholstered furniture, even wooden furniture will soak up that smell over time. Even though our renter is a clean person who bathes and washes her hair (and likely moisturizes, LOL) all her clothes smell like that so she smells like that. I want to say part of it is because she is honestly paranoid of someone getting in so she never leaves any windows or doors open ever to air the place out, not even when she’s home. My DD has borrowed books from her that had been in her house and we had to air them out in front of an air purifier for quite some time before they stop smelling like old people house. ETA: My mom never smelled like that even though she was almost 84 when she passed away. My younger brother lived with her and liked to have the windows open and always kept the house aired out. Even after she moved to the nursing home she didn’t smell like that because we intentionally picked a place that always smelled clean, aired out and fresh when we toured it. I told my DH that I would agree to never move him into a nursing home that smells like pee if he doesn’t move me into one, LOL.

I’m in the minority, I don’t mind the staging. There are things I wouldn’t have in my house but generally it’s OK. I like the blue and the gold handles in the kitchen.

That has to be the owners’ things. No stager would decorate like that. It was a flip that listed four months to the day from when it last sold, there's no way anyone lived there during the reno, because basically every surface was touched and that's a quick turnaround. Had to be a developer/professional flipper to complete it that quickly, which is why the staging is even more baffling. (This carpet was throughout the ENTIRE HOUSE 😬)

You should scroll down to the bottom of the listing in the OP and you can see all the photos from the October listing. It’s not a time capsule. There had been some updates done in probably the ‘90s, so a few different kinds of dated throughout the house

Just noticed it’s already pending, the day after listing. Kind of surprised tbh - the market is definitely slowing here. Stuff is still selling but not usually that fast.

Listen I may be vain but no one is ever going to accuse me of smelling like an old person! I don't know what it is, but there is a certain smell a lot of old people have. Slightly medicinal, but I can't identify exactly what. I really don't never notice it on anyone under about 80, and it certainly isn't everyone. It's not a particularly bad smell, but it is distinctive. I read an article a few years back that there has been actual research on this and that old people DO have a smell. www.scientificamerican.com/article/old-person-smell/
