I did that but the next one isn’t until April 19th and there is a limit to how many boxes a household can drop off. We have a LOT of boxes of stuff that needs to be shredded. Plus the lines are usually long and the wait times can be a problem. If DH isn’t busy that day maybe I could arm twist him into helping me get some of the boxes over there. I think there are three boxes stacked up still in the office, plus the stuff I haven’t even pulled out of the filing cabinet yet. That’s probably the limit right there of what we can do for free at one of those events. That’s not even talking about the 15+ boxes that are up in the rafters of the garage. Oy. I wish we didn’t have to keep so much of that junk for so many years after the fact. I was just so tired of looking at the multiple giant bags of already shredded paper that were stacked up and the mess of random crap that was waiting to be shredded piled on the floor that I just snapped. I couldn’t take it anymore so it had to go. I swear, we must get at least a dozen business credit offers every single week. Oh wow, that is a lot of paper! If you can swing it and the lines aren't bad, dropping off what you can would help a bit! Have you opted out of preapproved credit offers? Lasts five years and we got significantly less junk mail. We've started getting a bunch again so it is probably time for us to reenroll. consumer.ftc.gov/articles/prescreened-credit-insurance-offers

Paper. Photos, school papers (SO many school papers), household paperwork, memorabilia, etc., etc. The same part of me that embraced scrapbooking & genealogy is the part that feels like those papers are all there to help me remember things I might otherwise forget. And then people tend to ask me things, knowing that I will "remember" them, but most things I only remember because I wrote it down or kept the paper.

DH would say my yarn.
If my dad continues to dump his unwanted stuff on us, that's gonna become a problem. So far we've managed to keep it to a minimum but he's already talking about bringing over more stuff. I wish he would dump it on my sister.

We don’t get a whole lot of prescreened offers for us personally (I froze my credit with all three bureaus a while back which I think helped) but we get multiple offers weekly for our businesses and I’m not sure how to opt out of those. Thanks for the link. I did look and it doesn’t say anything about that.

We had about 25 boxes we inherited from my FIL we shredded some until the shredder died, then burned quite a bit and sent some to a free event. The easiest was to burn them in our firepit but getting weather to cooperate can be tricky. We have since bought a new shredder. Good luck I need to go through our file cabinet snd then shred some soon.

The easiest was to burn them in our firepit but getting weather to cooperate can be tricky. We have since bought a new shredder. Good luck I need to go through our file cabinet snd then shred some soon. We did burn some at our hunting cabin in the fire pit, but DH said that some of the thicker glossy papers didn’t burn very well plus it took a really long time so he told me he didn’t want to do it that way anymore. The weather is also an issue too. Burning bans are more and more frequent now here, plus our neighbors complain (and understandably so) if the smoke blows over to their house. I wouldn’t like that, or bits of burning paper floating over my roof either. Pro tip: I know you mentioned burning it in your fire pit. When we were buying the wood burning fireplace for our lake cabin, the sales lady said not to ever burn paper in the fireplace because it causes creosote to build up in the flue and that can cause a chimney fire. Just putting that PSA out there in case anyone thinks it would be an easy way to get rid of unwanted papers. I’m going to take what I can to the next shredding event so some can be recycled but I’m going to keep shredding the small stuff myself and putting it in the trash going forward just so I don’t have to hang onto it forever.

#3: Random old technology and cords I have a drawer full of random old cubes & cords. Mostly Apple stuff but some UFOs in there too that I have no idea what they go to. When I moved, I tossed anything I could not match up to a device. I also have a bag of random keys I will toss after 1 year in my new house. I think they are to old locks, my in-laws old house, former neighbors, etc. Who knows? I figure if I haven't needed them they are gone.

We can drop cardboard off at our local recycling center for free. It's a great way to get rid of it all at once.

Books. I am actually purging books this weekend that are in our study. I have more though! Those will have to wait but for sure books. They are my weakness.

Yeah this. My golden is a love, but I’m tired of picking his fur out of my mouth when I get into bed at night. DH insists on letting him on the bed.

Initially I couldn’t think of a thing since I’ve been on a decluttering binge lately and then my DGS came to spend the weekend and I think he brought every game, truck and book he owns!

Most of the major office supply stores offer shredding services. It runs about $1 a pound and they estimate 1,000 sheets weighs approximately 10 lbs. Could put a dent in some of those that are overflowing with paper. Oh and sometimes they have coupons like Staples did last week for 50% off.

Scrapbook supplies. Twenty years of scrapbook supplies that I'm constantly adding to. I love the hobby but I'm in desperate need of reorganizing my craft room.

As many have said, cat hair, oh, so much cat hair. It’s everywhere, it floats so it’s up on shelves and end tables. My poor babies, we are brushing every day and they are still developing matts literally over night.
