This is local to me, and even though I think Gwyneth Paltrow is pretty damn weird, this is clearly a cash grab from him. Bottom line, it’s he said/she said. He said she ran into him, she said he ran into her. If he and I had collided, he wouldn’t be suing me. 🤷🏼♀️ What I'm most confused about on this is there were FOUR instructors with Paltrow - surely someone saw something. Someone said there was going to be witness testimony, if a witness corroborates her story, I really don't understand how it went on this long. The instructors were teaching her kids, so I’m not surprised if they didn’t see what happened. Although I have seen one of the instructors saying that she was very concerned about Sanderson at the time and didn’t leave immediately without checking on him, like his attorney is claiming.

I mean yes and no - I certainly agree they're focused on the kid, but on a beginner slope a huge part of instructing is being aware of who else is on the mountain - unfortunately it becomes ingrained that you need to constantly be scanning to make sure an out of control idiot doesn't come through and wipe out your group. So with 4 of them, I'd expect someone to have seen something. Having said that, I did hear something about her being pretty far from the kids, so maybe not.

I was just about to post this! I got my wish and The Behavior Panel guys analyzed it on YouTube...and they all agreed Paltrow was being honest. In my defense they did mention her increased blink rate and what they call her 'duck mouth' They make some really interesting points - including if Paltrow was lying she probably would have just settled out of court for $300,000 rather than go through a trial.
They were very critical of his lawyers and their analysis of the female one is quite funny.
I did think based on what I saw initially that that he probably had a case, he may genuinely believe that she was the one who crashed into him, but the facts were obviously in her favour.

it is very common at top resorts for very rich/famous people to have one instructor per student. you get hand holding... my dad did this job at sun valley and often worked one on one with the rich and famous. his favorite story was skiing with buzz aldrin..
I agree the case was pretty weak.

I have been trying to figure out what this case was about; I had totally missed it. Not a Paltrow fan at all, but I am glad she won.

I was suspicious of both of them. Did Paltrow say his skis came between hers? How does that happen without getting knocked over? Also, I admit that ever since video was posted of her (quite a few) years ago on a Vespa with Apple, where she pulled out in front of a school bus without paying any attention (and I believe she didn't have a license), I have not liked her.

I happen to know one of her attorneys along with 1 of his expert witnesses. Because I know Stephen Owens, I have been watching this. Personally he is a creepy guy. I am glad she won, even though I really don’t like her that much.

I watched almost all of the trial, and I think the jury got it right. I'll be curious to see if the judge orders for TS to pay GP's legal fees. That hearing should be soon. I did feel bad for TS. For whatever reason, I think he does believe the collision with GP has caused all of his issues and life changes. But I think he doesn't remember what happened, his friend (the only "witness") fed him a story, and he bought it and decided to sue. I'm going to watch that Behavior Panel video today! twinks- that's interesting! Are you saying Owens is a creepy guy, or TS is? lol

Steve Owens is not creepy. Sanderson is a creepy guy.

Steve Owens is not creepy. Sanderson is a creepy guy. Gotcha! lol He def. seemed obsessed with this case and being vindicated. I hope this is the closure he needed to move on.

So the dollar was the countersuit for her damages, and obviously just to make a statement. She's also asking for her legal fees, but the judge will decide not, not the jury. Her lawyers have to prove the case was brought in bad faith. I was surprised they didn't set a date for that at the trial, at least. Maybe all that is done behind the scenes, without a camera (the hearing, I mean).
