I know I've asked several times about vacations, but I love the Ps input and experiences.
So I have a major bday coming up in feb. Instead of doing like a party, or something, I want to do a family trip. My girls are both adults, one has a fiancé. So it would be 5 of us. We would drive to where ever. So in the continental US. We live in MN. I think I would like to do the trip in April, as that is when my dh is off his work. Only other wants would be -somewhat warm -beachy/water -seafood -do no want a beach or area that is just loaded up with high rises and over populated -minimal crime -hope to rent a VRBO for a wk that is reasonably priced.
Thank yoU!!!

Myrtle Beach will ALWAYS be my recommendation... We love it there... theres a lot of high rises but a little farther up or down and you can get away from the crowd.. plus in April it will be before the summer rush hits... maybe spring breakers, Im not sure... but there it every thing you want or need.. and they have a great boardwalk area.. it is easy to fly into, if any of your girls cant drive and need to meet up there...
You can find all kinds of restaurants within walking distance if you stay on the main strip..
Its probably not the quiet get away you are looking for.. but it a great beach town!!! In my opinion (just to qualify.. lol)

We love the gulf side of Florida. But it's gotten so expensive to go and PCB is just too crowded. We discovered New Smyrna Beach 2 years ago. It's just below Daytona. It is a small quite beach town. The first year we went, it was the week leading up to the 4th. I think we left on 7/2 to come home. There was no one there. Went last year at the end of July. Still no one there. We didn't feel the need to rush down at 7am to get a spot. Most days we didn't go down until 11am.
I'm looking at Orange Beach, AL or Fort Walton, FL this year. I think those are a little less crowded and expensive than PCB. But if I can't find options there, we'll go back to New Smyrna.

Fort Morgan, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach Alabama. Fort Morgan has a bunch of house rentals on the bay or gulf side. Gulf shores gives you the food and the high rises, orange beach is the more laid back section All three are the same area, but all have different vibes.

Look into Fort Morgan as well as Orange beach, same area but its a one road in and out and a really nice part of that area.

Hilton Head! It meets all of your requirements.

While we love Hilton Head, particularly Sea Pines which doesn't have tons of high rises, the weather is April is not reliably "beach warm." The same goes for the panhandle of Florida and Myrtle Beach. Some years its great, others its in the 60s. You just can't count on super warm weather until later in the spring. I think you are going to have to go farther south in Florida to get temps consistently up to the 80s in April.

Yea, the april time of the yr sucks I know. We have done all our family vaca's in april or may due to my dh's job. I had to get married in May. We went to Yellowstone in May, it was still snowing, and roads still closed. But it's usually not crowded at all!! but also some things arn't open yet. It goes both ways.

Something about the geography & currents if I remember correctly.

I was just coming here to say Galveston or Corpis Christy. We have had fun in that area. Been quite a few years ago, but it was nice.

New Orleans could be fun, with a side trip to the beach. Or stay at the beach with a side trip to New Orleans.
But why not fly somewhere truly warm? It would maximize your time there and you could have a truly warm beach vacation. I don't think the water is really warm enough anywhere in the US in April.
