We’ve taken several 2500-3000 mile road trips. The most recent was to Calgary and Banff from Portland and back through Vancouver. Our total mileage was just over 2600 miles.

So. Cal. to Victoria, B.C. and back. It was a two week trip. The “longest” part was the drive back home through central California on the 5. I don’t know if it was because we were tired, but that part seemed to last forever.

As the driver, I driven about 425 miles (one way) and back again, by myself.
As a passenger, across the USA from coast to coast. I was a young teenager then.

This week we drove from NY to Florida, with our dog. We stopped after each 6-hr driving interval and stayed at dog-friendly hotels. It’s been fun. The only snafu is that my back was hurting by day three of sitting in the car. My first and almost certainly last time driving this far, but it’s been interesting. I learned a long time ago to bring a tennis ball on long trips that require a lot of sitting. Place it at your back and use it to push on your spine / lower back to relieve pressure and force you to sit properly. You can also use it to massage your back.

For me it was several road trips from California to Mayo Clinic In Minnesota for my son’s cancer treatments. His cancer was a rare one, especially for a 9-year-old little boy to have, and there were not many places with the equipment and expertise to treat him. The two best places in the world were Mayo in Minnesota and a facility in Israel. Sometimes we flew, but my son loved a road trip and considered them a vacation of sorts. It kept him happy and his spirits up, so I did it. It was approximately 1,900 miles each way.

From west side of Portland, Oregon all the way to a suburb of New York City, while towing a massive sailboat. Driving all the way across Montana made it feel like I was never going to make it out of there!!

As a kid we drove from NC to CA. As an adult I have driven from So Cal to southern Oregon. We drive 9+ hours each way to Tahoe 2-3x a year. We do it in one day except if the freeway gets shut down due to blizzards.
Before I was born my parents drove from FL to AK (they are moving). My dad still loves to drive and has driven from So Cal to WI many times. My mom now tells him that she will fly and meet him there.

I don’t know if it was because we were tired, but that part seemed to last forever. The 5 through central CA is the worst. We go between nor cal and so cal a few times a year and always take the 99 now. I think it is about 30 min longer but worth it in my opinion. Lots more little towns with options to stop for food or gas if needed.

I’ve done one way trips from Seattle to San Diego, vice versa and also round trips between the two several times. It’s about a 24hr trip. One time I drove it straight through (no stops for sleeping). I don’t recommend that…

When I was little we moved from California to Washington DC. As an adult, the farthest I have driven is from Texas to California.

Bellingham, WA to Orlando, FL, or about 3200 miles. When my parents moved from WA to FL, I drove with my Dad and their cat. My Mom was already down there working.
Growing up, we always did long car trips. My parents grew up in the Midwest, and when going back to visit the grandparents from WA, it was cheaper to drive. We did the Trans-Canada Hwy going up through Michigan, I-94 , I-90, I-80, I-70. Plus, driving up and down the West Coast to Disneyland and Las Vegas.

1680 miles for total trip one way - Dallas to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada A week later we returned, so make it twice 1680. My DH was having trouble so I did all the driving on that trip. Longest in one day was on the first time I drove Dallas to Ottawa, and miscalculated how long it would take to get to the motel we had reserved. 745 miles in one day--about 12 hours on the road.
A close second was driving to Cape Canaveral, Fl. That trip was 1169 miles. However, the second time we drove that, we stopped by Columbia, SC, so that total trip was 1598, one way and then 1100 miles back home.
We need to clarify the question-- 1. Is it the total for the round trip, or just each way? 2. Do you mean the Pea driving or could the driving be by multiple people?

I spent my youth going on road trips from seattle to minneapolis.. camping all the way or taking the train one way and driving back the other. now, I drive to seattle or idaho from san francisco all the time by myself.. usually 13 hours. the longest I had driven by myself was salt lake city to seattle (when young) and last year, drove 20 hours seattle to sf (detour due to fires). I drove by myself seattle to boston and back.. drove the kids on long camping trips.
living in the west, I didn't think much of driving kids to college 6 hours away and turning around and driving right back.
dh and I drove around almost all the south island of new zealand by ourselves in a camper van

We love road trips - round trips from Ontario to Victoria, BC; Ontario to Las Vegas; and Ontario to Newfoundland are our most recent North American trips. We also did a big trip in UK/Europe - London, UK to Ravenna, Italy to Split, Croatia and back to London, UK. Our British/European friends thought we were crazy but it was a great trip.

Not far by myself.
When I was a kid we drove from PA to CA twice and CA to PA once. That was before Interstate highways were built. Best.times.ever! My mom would always buy books of games to play in the car. The best one was having to *spy* a list of things when we drove through towns. My aunt and uncle used to play *Zit*! Every time someone saw a U-Haul on the highway, they would say Zit and get a point! To this day when I see a U-Haul I think Zit!

My dad and I did a trip from Ohio to South Dakota and drove 16 1/2 hours straight alternating drivers, stayed for 45 minutes to load my brothers things and then turned around and head back for another 16.5 hours to beat a snowstorm.
We had a good time chatting but the trip sucked.

CA to NY as a child. We camped along the way, I remember it being a fun trip.
As an adult, Seattle to Los Angeles or Salt Lake City to Seattle. I'm not a fan of long car trips anymore. Anything over 5 hours and I prefer to fly now.

Probably LA to Philadelphia via Minneapolis. DH was at Squadron Officer School in Alabama and I closed out the house in Riverside, CA. I then drove to Texas and met him, and then drove both cars to Minneapolis for Christmas. We then drove to Trenton, NJ from there.
Or it could have been the move from Las Vegas to Montgomery, Alabama. We drove up through Colorado Springs, Colorado, to see friends, then Minneapolis, then St Louis, Missouri, to see more friends, then to Alabama. I know that trip was about 4,500 miles that we put on the car. We shipped my car and drove one car in that move because it was so far.
When you move with the military, they pay you mileage to move your car. If you use a transport service and then fly, they will pay you the cost that it would take to drive the car and then you pay the rest.

15 hours from Houston to Omaha, several times when my parents were still alive. We usually drove it straight through overnight so the kids would sleep most of the way. Oh to be young! LOL could never do that now.

Mid Florida to Mid Michigan, 22 hours straight. HAD to stop 20ish miles from home (slept an hour in a rest stop) cuz friend REFUSED to drive a manual (after I took a few weeks teaching her) because I kept falling asleep and veering off the road.

Southern California to Delaware. We were moving, so we were each driving a car and I had my 4 month old baby in my car. My husband wanted to stop and visit his brother in Houston along the way, so we took I-10 across the south. In July. It was absolute hell.

Not driving but alone on my motorcycle with no other riders. Rode from North Canton, Ohio to West Palm Beach, Florida, I think 1200 miles. Took two and a half days and was in July so a bit toasty on a bike. Had to stop every 3-4 hours since riding uses different muscles and boy did I get tired. Had a blast, was the trip of a lifetime. Love it! DH and I have ridden (I ride my own bike) to Sturgis multiple times and it’s about 2100 miles round trip. It’s amazing.

As a child, Texas to Pennsylvania and back. My mom and dad, 5 kids and 2 dogs in a Buick LeSabre. DH and I always prefer to fly but we did drive from Texas to Gatlinburg, TN once. We had a flight to Nashville booked a couple of weeks after 9/11. We just couldn’t do it so we drove instead. About a thousand miles each way.
