I had it in my head that I was going to invest in nice adirondack chairs this year for the firepit. Saw them several places last year. This year i'm not seeing what I want (may be too early.) But the stock seems different from what I see so far.
Anyway looking to see what others use for chairs around their firepit to get more ideas.

We have two fire pits. One on each level of our house. Both of them are surrounded by thick cushioned chairs. We do have Adirondack chairs out in the yard. They aren't as comfy as I'd like them to be. We found ours at Scheels.

Our firepit got buried over when we regraded our yard at the lake cabin, but before that we bought some of the plastic lumber chairs similar to the By The Yard furniture. They’re really heavy duty, colorful, weatherproof, never need painting and the ones we have fold up for storage if we want.
After that we bought a second set of similar chairs from Costco. They’re almost as nice as the original ones but were about 2/3 the price. They’re a little bit lighter weight and a little more difficult to fold up but otherwise they have many of the same nice features as the more expensive ones.

I had to google "Adirondack chairs" to see what they are. During the first COVID lockdown, we bought a firepit and an outdoor lounge - a two seater and a three seater couch, designed to be pushed together in an L shape. The seats are fabric covered foam. The first time we used it we burnt a hole in one of the seats when an ember flew out and landed on the couch! Since then we've added to the burn holes. Oh well. We also bought two low hard plastic chairs, that are similar to an Adirondack shape. For Christmas we bought ourselves this outdoor setting that comes with two wicker swivel glider chairs and a table. The wicker is UV-resistant, fireproof and waterproof, so perfect for outdoors and around the firepit. DSO actually bought some more comfy cushions for the chairs.

If it’s a wood-burning fire pit where we’re roasting marshmallows and kids are running around I prefer a chair I can get in and out of quickly and easily, which is not all Adirondacks. I actually really like a quality, sanded wood log bench or camp chairs.
If it’s a gas-burning fancy fireplace on a deck or hotel I prefer a comfy furniture style deck furniture.

Never anything with cushions or crevices I can't check for spiders. The chair must be thoroughly checked by me before I will sit in it.
I would rather stand up than sit in a cushioned outdoor chair, that's how much I detest spiders and the thought of them hiding in there is more than I can take
Yes, when I think there might be a spider, there usually is one.

I want to say they were about $170 each at Costco when we bought them but that was a few years ago now. Costco is selling cushions for those chairs right now and they probably match the chairs they sold. The Comfortcraft chairs were more like $250 each IIRC, but that was nine years ago. They’re considerably heavier than the Polywood chairs.

I made a set of adirondack chairs from these plans by Ana White. I didn't make the footstools, just the chairs. I made some cushions for them and they are very comfy.

We have a beautiful patio set and Adirondack chairs from Polywood. We ordered them around Christmas time months before Covid. We live in the snowy north and the set is outside all year and it looks brand new. We have been very pleased with it. It was a splurge for us.
For our fire pit, however, we have plastic, stackable Adirondack chairs that we buy for about $20 each at the local tru value. My husband often goes overboard with the size of his fires and our chairs often get burn marks on them. Every couple of seasons we replace them as they fade or break. They are stacked when not in use to keep them flying away and are light enough to carry around where they are needed.
ETA: I see a post above about Polywood sold at Costco. We bought a pair of the Costco chairs as a housewarming gift for some friends. They seem lighter (and were cheaper) than the set we bought directly from Polywood but their Costco-Polywood chairs also look brand new and they are a couple years older than our set.

We used to get those cheap stackable chairs too and hated them for all the reasons you mentioned but haven’t bought any new ones since we got our nicer chairs. We used our nicer chairs around our fire circle (up until we buried it) and never had any issues with ours getting burn marks from flying sparks. I can’t speak for our Polywood chairs because those have always been up on our deck since we got them.

We have Adirondack chairs around our backyard fireplace. I love them because of the wide armrest…you can set your drink down and you don’t need a side table.

We have to have heavy-duty outdoor furniture due to high winds and salt air. We have Outer chairs around our fire pit. They are teak and weigh a ton...and one still blew over in a windstorm. liveouter.com/

We have some old ones from Ikea that surprisingly have held up extremely well. I've gotten so many compliments on them. Not sure I'd have the same luck again but that's the first place I'm gonna look for replacements.

We have polywood-type adirondack chairs. We have 4 regular chairs (from Lowe's) and 2 rocking chairs (from Amazon). I had to assemble them, but it was easy. They are modern style, substantial, and easy to clean. I love them.
