So last night a lot of stuff popped up on twitter that, to use a politician’s favorite word!, should “concern” us.
In TX a judge ruled banned books in this library are to be put back on library shelves.
The response from officials? They are meeting to decide if they should just close the library.

Ted Cruz is all up in arms and can’t understand why it’s ok to have armed guards in banks to protect money but not in schools to protect children.
If he wants to protect children what about her? She was killed by a random shot as her and her family drove down the freeway…

In retaliation for a Grand Jury indicting trump, Jordan’s weaponizing committee is going after DA Bragg in New York by holding hearings about the pro-crime policies of DA Bragg. Here is this guy laying the ground work claiming “mysterious “ people in Wisconsin have told him they don’t want to NY because it’s not safe.
If I was to have a conversation with my representative Mike Thompson the last thing I would be talking to him about is what’s going on in another city on the other side of the country. I would be talking to him about issues in Sonoma Ciunty. .

Last night Kellyanne was claiming that the GOP should talk about policy and they have already won on the economy and education but needed to do more work when it comes to the young people and those”influencers” who are influencing these young people when it comes to abortion, guns and climate change.
1. These three issues potentially affect young people more than other age groups and they know it so they don’t need any help from “influencers “ to understand it. They just need to show up and vote in large numbers.
2. Boy the young voters are really on the minds of the right aren’t they. Too bad the 27% of young voters who voted wasn’t more like 50%. Then the right would be pooping in their bloomers over it.
Perfect response IMO

This is, I think, the crux of it. Republicans don’t see that their unpopular positions on abortion, guns, voting rights are a problem. No, the problem is that young people have been brainwashed; indoctrinated by sneaky liberals. I don’t see any evidence that most of them see their positions as problematic. They will try to win over young voters. Failing that, they will make it more difficult for them to vote. When did the Republican Party become so corrupt?

Ah……. This guy identifies himself as a “new founding father” and then goes on about how single women in this country shouldn’t be allowed to own dogs, especially male dogs. But if they are married then an exception can be made. He may have talked about women and power at the end of the video but I couldn’t listen to the end.

onelasttimeIn retaliation for a Grand Jury indicting trump, Jordan’s weaponizing committee is going after DA Bragg in New York by holding hearings about the pro-crime policies of DA Bragg. Jordan needs to rethink his position and FACTS.. But in a statement put out by a spokesperson in his office later that day and posted to Twitter, Bragg clapped back, pointing out that violent crime in New York is actually down since he took office — and lower than in major cities in Jordan's own home state. The Manhattan D.A.'s Office welcomes public safety conversations," said the statement. "In fact, we'll start: Just-released NYPD data show shootings and homicides are down in New York City for the first quarter of this year ... Virtually every major crime category is lower in Manhattan now than it was last year (as of 4/2/23): murders are down 14%, shootings are down 14%, burglaries are down 21%, and robberies are down 8%." "In D.A. Bragg's first year in office, New York City had one of the lowest murder rates of major cities in the United States (5.2) — nearly three times lower than Columbus, Ohio (15.4)," the statement continued. "If Chairman Jordan truly cared about public safety, he could take a short drive to Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Akron, or Toledo in his home state, instead of using taxpayer dollars to travel hundreds of miles out of his way." This comes as Republicans have subpoenaed Bragg's office for information about the indictment of former President Donald Trump — raising questions about whether the crime field hearing is an attempt to distract or intimidate prosecutors from pursuing those charges. www.rawstory.com/don-t-be-fooled-alvin-bragg-shreds-jim-jordan-over-planned-crime-hearing-in-manhattan/

Then the right would be pooping in their bloomers over it. Perfect response IMO The boomer generation didn't vote either when they were that age. In 2018, Gen Z, Millennials and Gen X outvoted older generations. Imagine if only 22% of Gen Z voted. Biden could have lost the election, Democrats could have lost the Senate and Democrats would have lost the House by bigger margins. And conservatives are worked up because they understand how even just 27% can affect the outcome of the elections. Only a few Republicans are talking about reaching out to younger voters or looking at policies. Most of the Republicans are trying to stop young people from voting by passing stricter voter ID laws targeted at college students, closing polling places near colleges, residency restrictions making it more difficult for college students to vote, talking about raising the voting age etc. Republicans deliberately suppressing the vote of young people is the problem. The percentage of young people voting is not the biggest problem. www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2019/05/29/gen-z-millennials-and-gen-x-outvoted-older-generations-in-2018-midterms/www.democracydocket.com/opinion/voter-suppression-is-youth-suppression/It should be no surprise, then, that the flood of voter suppression bills sweeping the country since 2020 have intentionally and surgically targeted the voting power of young people ages 18-35. Republicans saw what happens when young people vote — and now they’re doing everything they can to make it harder in 2022 and beyond.
Since 2020, we’ve seen states pass dozens of laws posing direct challenges to young people who, by the nature of their stage in life, are more likely to be tripped up by over-complicated rules around residency and intentionally inconvenient limitations on the time, location and method of casting a ballot.
The data is clear. The trendlines are obvious. Voter suppression generally is about youth voter suppression specifically. Republicans are using every tool they can get their hands on to make it harder for young people to vote. They’re subverting the will of the people, undermining the power of the largest voting bloc in America and holding back progress on the critical issues of our time. circle.tufts.edu/understanding-youth-civic-engagement/dispelling-myths-about-youth-votingWhen many members of the public talk about young people's civic and political participation, they often rely on and perpetuate myths about youth voting and youth attitudes toward civic life. These myths can reflect a lack of understanding of the complex dynamics that shape young people's engagement in democracy. At best, they paint an incomplete picture of these dynamics; at worst, they misrepresent them entirely. These inaccuracies can hinder efforts to increase youth voting and other forms of civic participation.
CIRCLE's two decades of research on these topics, and our work on the ground with a diverse set of partners and practitioners, have given us the data and understanding to dispel some of these myths:
Myth: Young People Are Apathetic
Myth: Youth Voting Has Been Declining for Decades
Myth: Young People Just Choose Not to Vote
Myth: Young People Are All Liberal College Students
Myth: Young Voters Don't Impact Elections

heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/april-11-2023-tuesdayThe dramatic events in Nashville last week, when Republican legislators expelled state representatives Justin Jones and Justin Pearson, two young Black men, for speaking out of turn when they joined protesters calling for gun safety, highlighted a demographic problem facing the Republican Party. Members of Gen Z, the generation born between 1997 and 2012, grew up doing active shooter drills in their schools, and they want gun safety legislation. And yet, Republicans are so wedded to the gun industry and guns as part of party members’ identity that today, one day after five people died in a mass shooting in Louisville, Kentucky—including a close friend of Kentucky governor Andrew Beshear—the Indiana Senate Republicans passed a resolution honoring the National Rifle Association (NRA). Later this week, Republican leaders will speak at the NRA’s annual convention in Indianapolis, where firearms, as well as backpacks, glass containers, signs, and umbrellas, are prohibited. Those speakers will include former president Trump and former vice president Mike Pence. The resolution and the speeches at the NRA convention seem an unfortunate juxtaposition to the recent mass shootings. Abortion rights are also a place where the Republican Party is out of step with the majority of Americans and especially with people of childbearing age. Last Tuesday, Janet Protasiewicz, who promised to protect reproductive rights, won the election for the Wisconsin Supreme Court by an astonishing 11 points in a state where elections are often decided by less than a point. Victor Shi of Voters of Tomorrow reported that the youth turnout of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, increased 240% since the last spring general election in 2019. Youth turnout at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, increased 232%. Almost 90% of those young people voted for Protasiewicz. And yet the party needs to grapple with last Friday’s ruling by Trump-appointed Texas federal judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk that the Food and Drug Administration improperly approved mifepristone, a drug used for more than 50% of medically induced abortions, and that it must be removed from the market. The party also must grapple with a new Idaho law that makes it illegal for minors to leave the state to get an abortion without the consent of their parents.

How many more kids have to be slaughtered in schools before these people are willing to make some changes? It’s pure selfishness, and it’s evil.

For some reason all that is happening in states like this one reminds of the Salem Witch Hunts. It seems that republicans will be relying on dumbing down the population to preserve their vote. It's probably the only way. Then again, their are boys (can hardly call them men) who are just like the sexist one in the clip shown on this thread. They most likely vote republican too.
