I made a fun fold plaid shirt card! I don't know if I love it or not but it was kind of fun and different. The sleeves fold back so it fits comfortably in an A2 envelope I have lots of single sided plaid papers I could do this with. April - shirt fun fold by jo.blackford, on Flickr I ADORE this! And, do I recognize the paper from one of the paper sets that we shared? I struggle with guy cards and would love to make some of these. Could you share the instructions that you followed? Thanks!

What did you think of the triple slims? I'm actually more intrigued by them than the quads.

The branches and center of flowers are on the same stencils. So unless you want green flower centers (which turn out muddy green since we're adding the green over the flower color), there's some serious masking needed. oh, that's very good know.

It is that Brutus Monroe paper we shared I found the instructions in this blog post and video (which is a livestream and rather tiresome, but also helpful). stampyourartout.com/2019/11/wrapped-in-plaid-shirt-card.htmlI made one adjustment because I noticed that the card seemed a little bit too big to fit comfortably in the envelope. I cut half an inch off the copy paper to make it 8x11 before I started folding, so the front piece is 4x4.5" - just gives it a little more wiggle room. It doesn't make much difference to the rest of the measuring except perhaps those sleeves. I haven't quite figured out if they need adjustment or if I'm just bad at measuring and cutting triangles. I don't have a math brain! I had to trim the sleeves a little. I haven't decorated the inside yet. It's a little weird being built on copy paper but kind of cool. I also considered doing the origami shirt fold to decorate the front of a card instead of it being the whole card but I thought that guys might enjoy this unique shape and way of opening.

Yes, I think it is a paper pad that we shared joblackford. Thanks so much for the video, I'm going to watch it in a bit. I've been stamping and die cutting loads and loads of fruit today and need a break! BTW I have a pack of the 49th and Market Rouge collection PP (6x8). It has 3 each of 9 double sided papers, so a LOT for card making. I'd love to share if you'd like half, or even a third (one full set). LMK. I still need to follow up with you on the 12x12 paper and all the goodies that I inherited.

One more card with the Honey Bee balloon stencils. It's supposed to rain for the next couple days, so I'm hoping to get some time to make more cards.

Gift cards for my mom for Mother's Day made with the stamp set MichyM gifted me. Made two of each. Went with mini-slimline again. I'm really liking this format, though I don't like the use of card stock. Also finished my Spellbinders card from C&C into a Mother's Day card. Now I need to finish tidying the craft room and adding up my challenge points for April and I'm done until the day of the Altenew retreat.

I love that you shared these, makes me happy to know they are getting use, and they turned out beautifully! I love mini slimlines too, but you are so right about their size in relation to a regular sheet of CS. On the other hand, I am always needing good sized white scraps for things like die cuts and/or stamping, so once I get past the annoyed part I'm typically ok with it

Thank you MichyM. Those stamps are beautiful, at least if you're into that arts & crafts/William Morris style, as we are here, but I did not find them easy to work with. I have some Michael's white 12x12, so I cut the slimline bases, made 4 5.5 x 8.5 panels to stamp sentiments on, and made the four stamped panels. Then I'll start being tempted to buy mini slimline bases from SSS or TE and will need to calculate exactly how much cheaper it is to use card stock even though it seems inefficient. joblackford, that is the quad stencil that has always tempted me the most -- it looks so very versatile, as you just proved again. Great cards!

Here are a few of the cards I've made in the last couple of weeks. Your constructive criticism is always welcomed, promise. I just want to get better, ya know?!? This is a newer Simon Hurley die. I don't know what it is about it, but I had to have it, STAT: LOVE playing with this little TE stencil set. I spent an afternoon playing with them and actually made about 5-6 more that won't fit in the photo. They are addicting! It's going to be a while before I pull out this stamp and die set again. I spent 3 crafting sessions making these little images (and a whole bunch more), and triple layering them. These cards are only going to people I REALLY like. The one on the left goes together quickly, and I made a bunch of them last summer. But holy smokes, the amount of stamping (3 times per color) drives me nuts! Made these yesterday after watching the Honey Bee live. First time I've ink blended dies from pure white. Usually at least I'll start with a light color of CS. I love the effect, but used oxides which blend differently than die inks (which i normally use) and are a bit blotchy for my taste. These are from the SCT Let's Stamp Together set for March. It was a stamp set and a die set in a bee theme from Brutus Monroe. Neither stamps nor dies work together, so it was almost like getting 2 for the price of one. I did like this particular stamp and the sentiments included, the rest I was like "eh" about. I'll likely have all or part of this set up for sale soon, so if anyone is interested now, LMK and I'll show you the entire set.

But holy smokes, the amount of stamping (3 times per color) drives me nuts! I want to comment on ALL your beautiful cards but I'll start with this one because I have this set in my wishlist. I noticed that the shapes are almost exactly like the new SSS geo flowers set and bold geometrics stencil and also the C&9th new turnabout stamp. They're all a little different but basically the same shapes. I've seen Yana and Ardyth use these sets to stamp repeating flowers and leaves instead of fruit (Yana was using the SSS set, Ardyth was using the lemon from the Altenew set to make a flower iirc). So maybe play around with not adding the wedge or seed layers to turn them into mod flowers and get more use out of these? I was debating which set to buy, if any, because I like the fruit options and sentiments of the Altenew but having multiples of the shapes like on the SSS stamp was nice. Then I figured I probably wouldn't bother with any of them. The stamping sounds tiresome. But I love them!

Too many cards in one post MichyM. You sent me searching for Simon Hurley because I wasn't sure what you meant -- the flower? That's not a style I associate with Simon. The cover die? Maybe. Anyway, I looked and I see now that it's the peony, I think, or the flower anyway. It looks at least sort of like a peony to me, but done in a bold and clean way. Very attractive and I love the way you used it. I love the bluebirds and I don't see any blotches. The bee balloons are cute. What do you mean by neither the stamps nor dies work together?

joblackford , I am a sucker for those shapes too, and yes, I plan on playing around with them more. I’ve got a good number of pins saved! I really do like this set and have been looking forward to pulling it out again as the weather warms, but then I got into the project and it felt like it would never end! That’s about a third of all the fruit I made. As to the C & 9th turnabout, I literally bought that on release day, that’s how excited I was about it. I’ve made a few card fronts with it, but haven’t turned them into actual cards yet. Shakti , for the B Monroe set, it’s a full set of like 22 dies that have nothing to do with the stamps. For example, the balloons were stamped but there is no coordinating die so they were cut out by hand. There are small, simple bees in the stamp set (which I used with a sentiment inside each of those card). No dies for those bees. But there are components to build your own larger and different looking bee from the dies. Does that make any sense? The big black Happy Bee-Day is a die set with no coordinating stamp. That kind of thing.

I didn't follow them either, hurray for renegades I really like what you did with yours, they are all lovely! I've yet to use the outline die, I get annoyed when stencils and/or stamps don't properly align with their dies.

Oh, they do align properly, MichyM, I just didn't see that they were "off" before the glue dried! My bad. I'd like to mass produce some in various colors with the checkered/dot stencils. Just need to find time.

They do align, But because some of the sections are so thin, it's easy for them to get tweaked a bit and then when you try and match them up, the curves aren't exactly right. If you try gluing it on in sections, you can correct it as you put on the top outline layer. I love your versions MDscrapaholic. Great job lining up the images with the Mod Fruit bowl set MichyM. I really want to play with that set more. I think the oxide bird cards are lovely - gives them a very vintage-y feel. I accomplished a handful of cards this past week. This is the Hero Arts Bee Florals stencil and die set. Then I finished the Spellbinders SCT March class. I changed the cards a bit. Used some different colors, skipped the shaker and used a different hello sentiment die. I've been loving this hello die (you can see I've used it multiple times already this month). It's from Concord & 9th (Triple-Step Posy Print Dies)...very small die set, so the price is nice.

Two A2 card fronts, SSS watercolor paper coloring panels colored with Prismacolor pencils:
Now that I look at the photos, I can see exactly where I got tired. Might need to do a little more blending on the plumeria before turning that one into a card

Thank you!
I become somewhat interested in Prismacolors after seeing them at the CMS Summit. I resisted for months but a tin of 36 followed me home from the warehouse store. I tried something with them and couldn’t figure out how to smooth/blend them, so I watched a video. Ran right out to the local art supply shop and got a colorless blender pencil. Highly recommend!

I love the bee cards! And I like your variation on the Spellbinders shaker card, too, cmpeter. As I've said somewhere around here before, I'm a curmudgeon who thinks shaker cards are for kids (like Trix?!), so I've been really resisting working on that card. Does anybody who's playing with the bee floral stamp and stencil set also have the similar butterfly set? I'm wondering how they compare in terms of ease of use.

Amazing cards, Ladies! I plan to get back later to drool over them! Here are the Mothers' Day cards I made this morning for my dd and ddil's. In my head they were going to be much M.O.R.E than this, but had to deal with the energy available to me today. I DID take the time to stencil the white backgrounds, but that does not show up well in this photo. I used the Gina K floral stencil from C&C with Spellbinders glitter foam. May add some sequins but may leave as is. 2023 Mothers Day cards by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

Do you like working with that glitter foam? I keep looking at it but not quite buying. I would never have bought it, but our LSS handed us each a pack at the last crop. I still would not have used it for intricate die cutting, but justjac used it right there and then and it cut beautifully. I tucked mine away and this is the first time I have used it with anything as delicate as that Gina K die, but it cut cleanly, released well. I like it.

I know there are plenty of folks who love the snarky cards, enough that there are even snarky sentiment stamp sets available, but I am not one. Tricia at CS is a snark lover and there are usually at least a couple snarky cards in each kit of 12. Yesterday I turned a couple of unassembled snarky ones from an older kit into two graduation cards. DS is getting his BS this weekend (but staying another year for his MS so not making a huge deal of it) while my younger DKid graduates high school in a couple weeks. The little balloon in the top right was added because I got a smudge on the other card (yeah, they’re getting the same card in different colors), but I like it. Don’t love my balloon strings, but didn’t like without them, either. The stamps/dies are all HA — the “Celebrate” is a wood-mounted rubber stamp from the late 90s and coordinates perfectly with the newer stamp & die set. I should check the theme of this month’s Blog Named Hero challenge and see if it qualifies. Also used up that CS kit!
