I just saw a sneak of the upcoming (I think it's shipping today) Taylored Expressions Create in Quads monthly stencil set (sorry, I don't remember the official name). I need it in a big way, I am all about repetitive patterns. If you are a member of their Quads club and don't care for this month's stencils, PLEASE keep me in mind and thanks much!

I like this set too. Nice that they are all different shapes. Maybe they will come out with something similar in their shop

Link? I’m not seeing it anywhere. If you go to the TE FB page there was a live yesterday showing it off.

Well, I shouldn't have watched that video, LOL. Just spent $60 in the store!

Yeah I know... that's why I don't want to see it, because I know I can't have it! I wasn't willing to sign up for a sub. Hate to say this because I really do like Taylored Expressions products, but I'm getting tired of the 'exclusivity' of things over there. You have to get a sub without knowing what it is, months before? And then they release it to the public - ugh, to what, tease you? At least the classes like SCT does are 'private'. And the whole last Thursday of the month, a kit that is limited time, and one of them sold out like in an hour or so? I had it in my cart and had a work meeting pop up - so when I go back to my cart, it's gone? Not cool. That's why I cannot buy from Simon Says Stamps - Stamptember soured me on them. TE is getting close now too... Reminds me too much of trying to get concert tickets... Just make more, Ok? It shouldn't be the cool (and faster and/or richer) people's clubs... Hype is one thing, but exclusivity is another. That's why I really like Spellbinders - they have extras of the Die of the Month club or whatever later for the public. Although don't forget their Advent Calendards haha. But at least they don't sell out an hour after release (at least not yet!)

Yeah, I'm OK with offering a pre-order/sub for people to say they def want to get something and then offering some extra ones to the general public - less risk for small businesses that are worried that they might over-order. I think they can order enough to meet the pre-order demand and then round up to the nearest hundred or thousand, from what I understand about manufacturing. But maybe the lead times are longer and they have to have the numbers further in advance, maybe there is a legit business reason for it. But in any case I'm not up for spending my money/filling my space that way.

THIS comment is exactly why I don't post here much - or really much at all to 'internet strangers' and brave keyboard warriors who personally attack. I'm sorry I sound like sour grapes - but from observing this place for YEARS (maybe not as long as you) - it seems like it's a good place to vent (because I am polite enough not to vent on the classes or the company's Facebook pages - I don't like seeing the complaints on Taylor's webpages/blogs because they are trying to market there, I get it.) If I have something truly bad, I usually just email customer support and the companies I've dealt with have been super positive. But this site is supposed to be a 'safe space', right? And should I say pot calling kettle black? - unless I go back and find your history all so sunny & positive. Oh wait, not so hard - in the Crop & Create thread on 4/21 you said "Besides the ongoing email issues that have soured me on the event, I really, really, REALLY wish SCT could figure out a way to shake up the companies that are included in their event." Sounds like you were soured too, right, or just kind of venting? But you had the cheery thing at the end - mine was at the beginning. I started my whole comment saying I like TE and I wish it wasn't going down the exclusivity route - in fact, I do the SCT events mainly because of her involvement. I actually thought I was supportive (to YOU!) because you started this whole thing saying you want that quad! I felt bad you couldn't just purchase it! And no, I don't have ANY production experience, but my previous boss told me a lot about how he retired (really young!) from his old company, doing manufacturing in China. Sounded interesting - and I don't think TE goes to China (good for them if they don't) but it sounded like it was an interesting process, and somewhat fast, because of their factory towns. And TE was able to make another set of the Coffee kit - which I luckily got after getting alerted to the next batch (which was nice.) So I know they can do it. And I get it, with the pandemic - supply chain... I actually was a development manager for a supply chain software program, so yeah, I do get that. SO insulting to be asked these questions. What qualifies you? Just curious? See how that feels? I started posting again because I felt bad for Shakti in the Altenew section where she felt the negativity there - so I wanted to show some support that there are lurkers here that don't post (much) but are also taking that class. But I'll go back to hiding or at least take a break. Probably what you want by your comment, right? No one can just join in on the fun, right? Hah, another kind of exclusivity; don't worry, I'm used it being the odd girl out. Thanks for reminding me why I don't post here much. And while I really don't like to get personal back to people who comment to me, I'm getting too old to just sulk away. I can't believe this kind of comment honestly - after all the negative things I have read here (which sometimes honestly is really helpful or makes me think!) Just wow. My comment was THAT bad?! Hah.

TL:DR -- Can't we all just get along?!
I think we all bring things in with us. We are all here where there is no body language or intonation to further enhance the communication. In the exchange in Altenew retreat thread, I was responding very defensively because I was suffering from a soupçon of buyers' remorse. Some might be feeling some FOMO on the Quad of the Month.
I think we are also aware that many of the companies in this space are small businesses, crafters like ourselves, but who managed to make the leap to making it a going concern. We all have different boundaries between our individual economic interests and those small businesses.
We all have different levels of risk tolerance as well -- and make no mistake, signing up for something sight unseen, whether it's a rather pricey one- or two-day crafting event with products, or a month-to-month subscription, or a multiple-month commitment to a subscription is all about risk tolerance.
I only re-entered the paper crafting hobby about a year ago after an absence of at least a decade. Most of these companies are new to me. I am finding that there are things I both like and dislike about most of them. How I translate that into "putting my money where my values are" is an inexact art, as I'm sure it is for many or most of us.
I do think that there are, to some extent, appropriate and inappropriate places to vent about things. I'm not sure why someone would go into a thread I started about an event and slam the event and its cost and crow about better uses of that amount of funds. I do understand why someone would post in this thread specifically about this particular subscription program their frustrations with this particular subscription program.

My sincerest apologies for discord on the board caused by my post. I had no idea that voicing my thoughts would cause such a ruckus and in hindsight it’s clear I should not have replied. I am sorry that something I wrote caused drama here. ❤️

So, I'm actually kind of interested in discussing marketing practices, how manufacturing limitations feed into them, which ones get up people's noses, which ones folks really respond positively to. And it seems to me that a thread dedicated just to discussing that sort of thing would add a level of remove between people's buying choices and the discussion. So I'm thinking of starting a thread dedicated to that discussion...
...but if the folks on this thread think I've taken complete leave of my senses to even be considering it, I'll stand down.

So I'm thinking of starting a thread dedicated to that discussion... ...but if the folks on this thread think I've taken complete leave of my senses to even be considering it, I'll stand down. This would be an interesting discussion. I find everything about this industry so fascinating. I can't even imagine what a learning curve it is to manufacture anything. Some companies are better at predicting what they'll need than others, and some seem to order a smaller amount in order to increase hype and make sure they always sellout fast, which in my book is a silly idea because they could be both selling more of their products (rather than artificially limiting how much they can sell) and stop frustrating customers who can't order within the first few hours. I remember Papertrey Ink did this all the time - they never ordered enough and you had to wait up until midnight when their new release came out and order it immediately or else you wouldn't get it. Subsequently, people would automatically buy every single release every month because they didn't want to miss out. I think it just ended up driving a lot of customers away, though, and the same people who knew to order at midnight got the new release every month. I would hate for TE to be going down this route, but I don't follow them closely enough so I have no idea. I do know that Stampin' Up! has been having a terrible time over the past few years ordering enough product and are constantly sold out of stuff, and their demos are getting really upset about it. I don't know if it's a supply chain issue or an inventory control issue or what. It does seem like there's a major explosion in crafting sales since covid - Honey Bee said not too long ago that they had their biggest sales month ever for a new release. So I think demand may be rising still in the cardmaking arena, at least. Shakti, if you start a new post I'll cut and paste my comment over there. Also, I just want to say that it's so hard to read tone in typed comments. My son constantly thinks the worst when he gets texts, even if the text is innocuous enough, just because that's his default interpretation. I'll read the same text and not think it's a big deal. So, I try to keep that in mind whenever I read comments online, although it's hard sometimes. There are certain websites where I'm genuinely nervous every time I see that I have a reply to one of my comments lol. For the record, I haven't had that problem here on this side of the board.
