I used the Hero Arts scrubber and it works like a charm, hurrah! However, I went to use it again today and the adhesive has completely separated from the wood block, so I now have two pieces: a wood block, and a scrubber thing with it's Velcro on the back, with foam tape on the back of that. Any clue of a permanent way to mount the adhesive foam on the back of the scrubber back to the wood block? I'm all ears!
As to the "new and improved" GinaK Tidy Towel, my first two were the original. My third one is the "new and improved" version. I wouldn't have tried it a third time if it was the original. I'm finding that (for me) it's not holding up any better/longer than the original. So I personally would not recommend them. Ordered the absorber yesterday, but I don't have prime so it'll be another 10 days before I get it.

I would take a picture and send it to hero arts costumer services and ask what kind of glue they recommend. They might send you a new one or at least get their opinion on glue. I had good luck with HA, they are very nice.

When I made my home-made version (with the HA pads and an old wood block stamp), I just used my Bearly glue to attach the velcro to the block. So far it's held.

Thanks so much girls. I ended up emailing a note and photos to HA last night. Hopefully they'll be able to get back to me during the week. If not, I'll try Bearly Arts glue since I have it on hand.

A little update:
First off, bought the Absorber towels and LOVE. One towel can be cut into 8 equal sizes that are slightly larger than my GinaK towel. And there are 2 large towels in the package. So for $26, I'll get 16 towels. Not bad. So far the one I am using has not shed or peeled away bits of towel, nor does it hang onto cat hair so I am a happy girl who is also saving some serious $$$ thanks to the peas <3
Second, Hero Arts recommended that I use Gorilla Glue and then a second glue (I can't recall the name offhand) both of which I don't have. And I didn't want to have to buy something to fix a defective product, KWIM? So, I asked them if they could replace the stamp cleaner block. I never heard back from them about it, but the other day a replacement was in my mail. So that turned out as well.
Thanks so much for all your thoughts girls, and have a great weekend!

A quick question for those of you have the absorber or other large non-craft-intended shammy. If you're using a quarter of it, is the remainder what you store in the plastic container it came in? If so, where do you store the quarter that you're currently using?
It's bigger than the Lawn Fawn one, which is very nice, but it doesn't fit where I was keeping that one.

I store the section I'm using in a zip-lock baggie, but I don't zip it closed all the way. It does eventually dry out, but it doesn't get moldy that way. I store the remaining pieces in the original container. I do wash it after every 2 or 3 stamping sessions.

I allow mine to fully dry between sessions, and did the same when I used the GinaK towel. I have a wide-mouth jam jar that I keep on my desk when I'm using it so it stays damp. After I'm done for the day I rinse it out in the sink and allow it to dry. I have the rest of the absorbers in their packaging. But have debated allowing them to dry out as well. It's gonna be years and years before I use them all up. BTW, after several weeks of use, I want to say 1,000 than yous to those of you who suggested the absorber. It is so much better than what I was using!

And if in with other laundry, you haven't run across the ink transferring have you?

The permanent ink stains don't wash out, but some of the others do. It also keeps the absorber smelling fresh, which is important to me.

OMG, I caved a back when this thread originated and bought the Absorber and it was a 2 pack. I finally had enough of my crappy Gina K tidy towel, tossed it in the trash and opened the Absorber. Well that thing is GIGANTIC! I now have 8 minis and one still unopened! This thing is AWESOME! I can't believe how great it works. Thanks for all the recommendations! One other thing to add...I LOVE the Taylored Expressions stamp cleaner (blue liquid). It is soooooo good. It cleans stamps so they look brand new. I highly recommend it.
