At the LSS on Tuesday, I saw they received a couple of boxes from Spellbinders. Heard the owner chatting quietly with one of her casual clerks who had dropped in about "can't show anyone til Saturday". They pulled out a secret catalog that they also couldn't reveal.
Looks interesting. Not tempted right now, but thought some of you might be.
Wondering why they would swear the small shops into secrecy and then reveal three days early?

It definitely looks nice and totally reminds me of lifestyle brands letter press. I have that one that I bought from eBay couple years ago. I also have all the acrylic paints that works with it and some old letterpress designs by studio calico. This one definitely looks newer and improved tool.
But I am not sure if I want to invest in the tools + inks + papers + better press plates. Not sure if it's just me but that's a big investment.

There was a thread about this back in early May. The price and the need for a lot of special plates, inks and papers makes this a big NO for me.

ITA agree about the $$$ outlay. I went crazy buying foiling plates for the Glimmer system, and have used it only seldom. I think until I make use of THAT system a habit, I will refrain from jumping on any more band wagons for awhile.

I'm staying away from anything the requires me to buy the tool, plus more tools to use it. I'm set with the stuff I have now.

Back in May I was for sure not interested in this system. Then this past weekend I watched a few videos and now I'm thinking that I might ask for it for Christmas. My MIL always asks us to choose 5 things we want for Christmas, and I usually have trouble coming up with 5 things, so that may be a good opportunity to get this. Jennifer McGuire used it with her Altenew inks (and maybe other brands, too, but I'm not finished her video yet), and also used the BetterPress plates to hot foil and it was absolutely beautiful (both Yana Smakula and JM show this) - so the fact that the plates can be used with a system I already own makes me feel better. JM also used other papers with it and they worked - regular cardstock and Tim Holtz watercolour paper.
So, I'm moved from an absolute no to a maybe. The results do look gorgeous. I look forward to watching more videos and seeing more cards made with it, and then I might add it to my Christmas list - the price is not unreasonable, either, in my opinion.
