I've started one of my Christmas card projects -- a dozen or so cards for colleagues. Got a bunch of samples of different shades from Cardhouse Warehouse and found two colors I like -- one red and one green. To complete the project I'll need 5 or 6 more of the green and somewhat fewer of the red. I'm also thinking of trying one of their whites.
I wouldn't mind getting 25 sheets each of the red and green, even though it's far more than I need now, if shipping didn't go from free to a flat rate $9.99! That almost negates the fact that the sheets drop from 0.75/sheet to a little under 0.50/sheet. Would you all consider it abusive of their policies to order 5 more sheets of each in a second sample order (and maybe even a couple odd sheets more later)? Or is it just a reasonable use of their sample policy as a small-time crafter?
TIA for your feedback!

Do you have Amazon Prime? Their paper packs are on Amazon.

I do at the moment, though I generally don't. That's an idea. Thanks!

Well, as it turns out the cost/sheet of buying a pack of 25 on Amazon is HIGHER than the single sheet sample price direct from Cardstock Warehouse. And because I'm close to them, they'll ship to me for $8 instead of 10. But in this case, Amazon is clearly a rip off.

I'm impressed you're already thinking about Christmas cards! Every year I say I'm going to start early and then about two weeks before Christmas I'm furiously cranking out 45 cards that are way to detailed to be waiting until the last minute. haha
I'm not sure I would ask for more samples. I would feel kind of weird about it. The shipping fee does seem high, but it could be because of the size of the package due to shipping paper (9x12 or 12x12). If I want something I grumble and just pay the fee.

I will no longer buy their card stock from Amazon (and I’m not inclined to ever purchase from their website). I have had more than one of their card stock packs be cut crooked - the entire package was off.

Hmmmm…I wonder if that explains the “if you bought our products on Amazon that’s between you and them” warning (paraphrasing here) on their site. Not that their own direct return policy seems much better.
And that seems like a legit reason to order more samples.
And also to ask if there are other similar sites that anyone’s had good experience with.
EtA: As far as working on Christmas cards already, I was afflicted with a vision and it's also distracting me from Q3 card exchange cards, which aren't going so well so far.

This sounds interesting. You can buy samples? What size are the sample sheets? How does this work? I have never bought anything from them before.

8 1/2 x 11. Free shipping on samples. The Color Plan samples I'm buying are .75/sheet. They have other brands that are pricier. Up to five samples per product (color). Other than single sheet samples, packs are 25 sheets (~12.50/pack for the Color Plan). They do sell 12 x 12 both by the pack of 25 and the single sheet, but those are not samples. Flat rate shipping for orders under $149 is $9.99, but if you're in the area, they offer regional shipping. They're in PA and I'm in MA, so I was quoted around $8.
But now that I'm hearing about issues, I'm tempted to check the true on the four sample colors I decided not to use in the project. And to order more sample sheets. Maybe they really don't care that crafters use their sample program this way and won't say anything. If they do squawk, I can legitimately say I was prepared to place an order for 50 sheets, but heard rumors about issues with their products and decided to try a few more samples to see if it was correct consistently.

not abusive. as long as a company is open about its charge, it's not abuse.

I’m worried that I’m abusing their sample policy, not that their shipping policy is abusive to me.
And they accepted/confirmed another sample order.
My order arrives tomorrow. They really don't seem to mind that I can see. With this order, I can make 11 cards total, assuming all the pieces that arrive are square. I was hoping for 12, but I can wait for several months before I need to decide whether to order another sheet.
