TFG talks about his lawyers on truth social... Donald Trump presented a mystifying binary choice regarding his attorneys Wednesday. "These vicious Communists, Marxists, Fascists, and Radical Left Democrats have attacked my lawyers at a level never seen before, and yet I keep on winning," Trump posted. "Any attorney that represents me is either a fool, or a Great American Patriot that History will love and cherish!"www.rawstory.com/trump-2662302739/#cxrecs_s

Comer is having hearing where the IRS whistleblower makes his appearance.
Right off the bat he makes a fool of himself by declaring they are showing the American People accountability matters. It’s amazing a bolt of lightning didn’t strike him where he sat.

In the 2 minute video above Raskin pointed out all those investigating Hunter Biden were appointed by trump and neither Garland or the President have tried to stop the investigation.

He sure did. The 2 minute video is worth a listen. IMO Since facts matter this is what was agreed to in the debt negotiations. He makes it sound like they killed all funding to the IRS. The IRS won’t be hurting for money. ”The bill rescinds $1.4 billion given to the federal tax collector in the Democrats’ health and energy package that was approved last year on party-line votes. The White House says the debt deal also includes a separate agreement to take $20 billion from the IRS over the next two years and divert those funds to other nondefense programs.”

The White House says the debt deal also includes a separate agreement to take $20 billion from the IRS over the next two years and divert those funds to other nondefense programs.” No, he didn't make it sound like they were taking away all funding. He specifically referred to the $80 initially approved last year which is exactly what was reduced in the debt ceiling deal. He used quotes from Republicans in describing IRS agents as an army out to target everyday Americans. Republicans are the ones not sticking to the facts regarding the IRS. Republicans are the ones trying to tear down the IRS. Here's the quote from Fox www.foxnews.com/politics/jamie-raskin-says-hunter-biden-exercising-his-second-amendment-rights-jab-republicansIf my GOP colleagues think that the treatment of millions of tax scofflaws or even the handful who face criminal prosecution like Hunter Biden is too lenient, I invite them to join us Democrats in supporting the $80 billion in funding for the IRS that we passed in the Inflation Reduction Act last year," he continued. "This money will enable the IRS to make long overdue improvements in customer service, but will also enable the agency to restore lost capabilities and enforcement to identify and prosecute tax cheats.
"But the very first thing House Republicans did this Congress was vote to rescind that funding while disparaging these future IRS employees who will do the same kind of work today's witnesses do," he added.

The White House says the debt deal also includes a separate agreement to take $20 billion from the IRS over the next two years and divert those funds to other nondefense programs.” The original intent for the $80B was customer service, technology, & enforcement. Enforcement being audits. The Republicans did not like any additional money going for enforcement because that would mean more audits on their rich donors and corporations. So they groused about it. Along came the negotiations to raise the debt ceiling and in the process cut spending. $1.4 was cut from the $80B which makes a new total of $78.6B spread over a 10 year period. In addition $20B would be cut from the 2024 and 2025 budgets. Do the math. If the $78.6B is spread equally over 10 years the IRS under this new deal, even with the 2024 & 2025 portions of the $78.6B, will get less money then originally intended before the $80B was even passed. Which could very well mean enforcement will take a backseat yet again. Which is something the Republicans want very much. IMO when Jamie Raskin said what he said there is a lot of truth in it. A number of years ago the Republicans did manage to get a budget passed that gutted monies for enforcement.

Oh, TFG clemency recipient reoffends in two years.. Eliyahu Weinstein has been charged with fraud again, just two years after he had the remainder of a 24-year prison sentence commuted by Trump. The case comes from the SEC Securities and Exchange Commission, which charged six people for a multi-million dollar scheme similar to a Ponzi scheme. The department said in a blistering press release that it had been "orchestrated by criminal recidivist Eliyahu Weinstein." According to the charges, the individuals allegedly raised money to fund deals with healthcare products with a promise for investment returns. Approximately $38 million was raised from at least 150 investors, the SEC says. “Over and over, the defendants took money from unsuspecting investors for fake deals and shuffled funds around to pay out earlier investors to give the false impression that they were receiving real profits from those deals, sometimes even concealing Weinstein’s criminal history and involvement in the deals,” said Antonia M. Apps, Director of the SEC’s New York Regional Office. “The SEC remains committed to holding accountable those who prey upon innocent investors and conceal the truth about their criminal pasts and schemes.” It was only two years ago that Eliyahu Weinstein was told "two-thirds of his 24-year sentence for investment fraud was going to be commuted by President Donald J. Trump," The New York Times reported in 2021. *** Weinstein hired a "well-connected Washington lobbyist" to handle the clemency appeal to the White House for his conviction for running a Ponzi scheme that The Times said, "stole millions of dollars from clients represented by Ari Mweisrot." The funds were never returned. The report detailed how a pair of influential Jewish organizations that focus on criminal justice issues were behind the lobbying efforts. One of those groups, the Tzedek Association along with Alan Dershowitz and former U.S. attorney for Utah Brett Tolman were credited with the decision. www.rawstory.com/eliyahu-weinstein/FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2023-134
Washington D.C., July 19, 2023 — The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged six individuals with a multi-million dollar Ponzi-like fraud scheme orchestrated by criminal recidivist Eliyahu Weinstein of Lakewood, New Jersey.
Along with Weinstein, the SEC charged Aryeh L. Bromberg, Joel L. Wittels, Richard M. Curry, Christopher J. Anderson, and Alaa Mohamed Hattab for their roles in the fraudulent scheme, which involved raising investments to fund purported deals to purchase, distribute, and sell in-demand healthcare products. The SEC alleges that, beginning in or around November 2021, Weinstein, Bromberg, and Wittels raised money from investors for purported deals through Optimus Investments Inc. while concealing Weinstein’s identity, criminal history, and involvement from investors. Beginning in January 2022, Anderson and Curry allegedly began raising money for Optimus deals through Tryon Management Group LLC, and, by August 2022, they joined the other defendants in actively concealing Weinstein’s role in the venture. Hattab provided substantial assistance to the other defendants in carrying out the scheme. www.sec.gov/news/press-release/2023-134

How do the Bidens get out of this mess? How long will this committee talk about it with no actual documents in hand?
I just wondered if someone set up those companies and paid themselves and not the Bidens? Or will they just say the Bidens committed tax fraud by not reporting the monies?

Most of the GOP members were close to polite. One missed the mark big time!! A hearing in the House Oversight Committee took a turn on Wednesday when a Republican lawmaker attempted to use the so-called "Central Park Five" – now known as "The Exonerated Five" – as an example of a two-tiered system of justice that also applies to Donald Trump. *** Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-WI) hit back, "Just one other thing, with regard to what happened in Central Park years ago, uh, the mischaracterization of what happened there is, I'm sure very hurtful and harmful for the central park jogger. I wish you wouldn't have — there's more to that story, and you know very well. Thank you."Though the convictions of Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana, and Korey Wise were vacated, the lives of the teens were upended and they spent between 7 and 13 years in prison. Trump's ad in the Times called for the death penalty for the boys.
It wasn't until known rapist, Matias Reyes confessed to the attack and DNA evidence proved that he was the attacker that the accused were freed. ***

Cruz is a jack&ss but he's also smart and in this case, partly right. I think he's wrong about what voters want. However, there are a lot of court cases, beyond voter suppression. Some major progressive goals have been achieved through court cases over the years - Brown vs Board of Ed, Roe v Wade etc. More recently, progressive groups are challenging the abortion bans, advocating for gun safety, same sex marriage and union/ labor issues.

Another hearing and more lies.. Factcheck.org.. link” Hank Aaron’s Death Attributed to Natural Causes”“In a statement emailed to AFP Fact Check, the county medical examiner, Karen Sullivan, said: “There was no information suggestive of an allergic or anaphylactic reaction to any substance which might be attributable to recent vaccine distribution.” She added: “In addition, examination of Mr. Aaron’s body did not suggest his death was due to any event other than that associated with his medical history.” & ”And Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a vaccine skeptic who has promoted COVID-19 misinformation, tweeted that “#HankAaron’s tragic death is part of a wave of suspicious deaths among elderly closely following administration of #COVID #vaccines.” Kennedy’s tweet linked to a post by his organization, the Children’s Health Defense, baselessly suggesting Aaron may have died as a result of the vaccine.”
