Good morning.
I'm a bit sleep deprived. We have a kitty hanging around outside and I am convinced it is stray. At 3:30am I heard mewing and sure enough he was outisde of my bedroom slider, mewing. Strangely enough, my cats didn't respond. The other day the guy in my avatar went apecat when he saw sweet kitty. It's a skittish cat and won't let me near it. I left some cat treats and kitty liked them. I don't want a 3rd cat, but he needs food. Anyway, the point of this ramble is that I was kept up by a furry friend and I'm tired, but happy, cause I love cats.
It's another day at home. (Boring!) I'll do a little bit of knitting and I need to do some cleanout in the fridge. Dinner will be chicken sandwiches.
What's on your menu?
What are you doing today?
Delta Dawn , how are you today? Did you get checked by a doctor? I'm thinking of you.
May today be everything you want in your today!

What we won't do for furry friends, eh scrapmaven? I'd be the same exact way. I'm working today, thankfully I have no more meeting for the rest of my day. So maybe I can just work quietly. I sure hope so. I did my two days in the office already this week so I'm at home today and tomorrow. As for self-care, I am planning to finish up my current book. I have two arriving at the library tomorrow or Saturday so I need to just sit down and finish the one I'm working on. I also dragged an old blanket project out of hiding yesterday and last night listened to an audiobook while I crocheted. I called the vet's office this morning and they assured me she'd be calling me this afternoon about my kitty. So, I'm trying to wait patiently. Tonight I will have dinner at Mom's house. With her arm broken, I've agreed to bring pizzas.

A bit of a quiet day today. Very humid outside as there has been rain on & off, no real sunshine but just *heavy*, so I am staying in with the a/c. Decided to make yeast meatbuns for my family. They are going on a fishing/camping trip and these travel so nicely as they are an almost complete meal. SHH ~ don't tell them but I finely grated some carrots & zucchini into the meat mixture. The taco seasoning will cover this up. Not sure about dinner. jeremysgirl ~ sometimes it is good to finish up some UFO's. Enjoy the pizza with your family. I hope that your mom is healing. scrapmaven ~ You know that you will end up with a 3rd cat, especially since your other cats didn't respond. Have a great day everyone.

scrapmaven, I know up you said you were a bit sleep deprived, but I am fairly sure today is the 27th! I’ve had a fairly busy day. I saw my GP to follow up my blood work from yesterday. Mostly good, just a few things she wants me to concentrate on fixing in the next 3 months. I had a quick lunch then headed to school. Today is the last day of after school care for this school year - school finishes tomorrow, but the kids just go straight home. We had a party planned , so I went in for that. It was a special day, as the kids who started with us in 2019 are finishing grundschule, so leaving us. After party food and a bit of outside play, we had a special goodbye ‘ceremony’ for them and their parents. It was a bit sad seei them go - they have grown so much and we’ve gone through a lot, with covid and everything. This year has been the only school year since we started with no interruptions due to the pandemic! Dinner tonight is steak with whatever DH has decided needs to be eaten in the fridge or pantry.

quiltz , the other day my avatar kitty had a fit when he saw the new guy outside. I don't think outside guy would be well received. If I adopted every kitty I see I'd have a thousand cats. There aren't enough Friskies in the universe for that.
sueg, I have no idea what you're talking about? The date in the subject line is 7/27.

We used to have neighborhood cats come in our backyard in our old house. We don't see many outside cats here because of the coyotes. DH's new golf clubs are great ~ when he played with his group on Tuesday he was the big winner. He's playing right now so I'm eager to hear how it went. Dinner might be pork chops.

Good morning! I'm sorry to have been AWOL for a few days. I have read but haven't posted. It's been a busier week than anticipated. We had lots of family stuff over the weekend. Then work stuff. And we leave for a short weekend camping trip tomorrow. In the middle of that my problem child/notchild student has created a ruckus and I am frustrated beyond belief. After yet another request for a private conversation (when he was supposed to be in working with his group) I was prepared for another litany of complaints. Instead he admitted he has anxiety (clearly) and asked for any resources. I said I would send him the contact information for the Student Counseling Office (and did when he went to his breakout room). He said the group was going well. The assignments came in on time. Other than him not having his video on in class, I thought all was well. This was Tues night. Last night he copies me on an essay length rant to the director of the program about the course, me, the advisor, online classes, his inability to balance full time work and this course, his mental health. And how this failure on our parts is responsible for him taking his anger out on his wife. He said he came to me numerous times asking for help and didn't get it. Disparaged the compromise he agreed to (and then fell apart when it still didn't go his way). I was shocked. I really thought we were developing a mutually respectful and professional relationship. He said he felt heard. And turned around and completely lied, throwing me and the advisor (who he said he could not reach...it had not even been 24hrs since he called, and come to find out she had called him back but his vm box was full) under the bus. I know I should not take this personally. I have invested more energy in managing his conflict than any other grad student ever and we've only been in class for 2 weeks. He has conflict with his colleagues and a history (according to other students) of saying racist things in class ("there would not have been slavery if the blacks just had guns"), arguing, and apparently hollering out in class "I'm not WOKE and I'm never gonna be!" Ugh. I sent a carefully worded, supportive, professional response to set the record straight. As has the advisor. Our director is out of the country til next week. She has had him previously and apparently is aware of "his strengths and weaknesses." In his letter he said he wants to drop the course and take it in person. He probably doesn't know that I teach this course online in the summer and I think I'm the only instructor. I hope he does drop, as I have very serious concerns about his ability to be a client-centered, culturally competent practitioner. And now I have written my own essay-long rant! Sorry ladies! I'm in the middle of this right now. I want to go camping and forget about things for a couple days. If I can. 😔 Tonight's dinner is baked chicken pesto sandwiches with corn on the cob and maybe some angel hair pasta. Today I'm working on a chocolate poke cake (a friend is coming to the campground to visit and it's his birthday) cinnamonbrolls, Sriracha slaw for tacos. Baked beans with brisket and jalapeños. And fruit to cut up. We will load most stuff tonight except the food and take off early afternoon once Nick can get away from work. Congrats on your new kitty, scrapmaven! 😉 Wishing you a peaceful day. jeremysgirl. Did I miss something...your mom broke her arm? Ready for your crop, lucyg? Or has it happened already? Sending love to all who needs it!

I hope all gets resolved and he's no longer in your class. hot German potato salad with kielbasa tonight - with DD away, we're cooking all the things we like that she doesn't, lol

tmarschall , he should not be in this program. He needs to get a handle on his mental health, because he can't be of any use to anyone else when he's so out of control. Can you and your advisor take steps to have him removed from the program or would that just look like retaliation? He is clearly a terrible fit for a social work program. I'm sorry that you have been targeted. Go camp and get some peaceful time and have some fun. I do not have a 3rd kitty. I do not!

If he is miserable in this class, he will be miserable in EVERY class! And miserable as a social worker! I do not have a 3rd kitty. I do not! Not yet.

I'm feeling a lot better today ... My kitchen was a disaster because I felt yucky yesterday so I cleaned that up and ran a couple of errands ... Now I will hang out for awhile ... Later I will wash some towels ... so exciting! Dinner is up in the air ... my appetite is off ... I didn't invite my mum over because of that ... My girlfriend got home from the hospital yesterday ... finally! She has a cast on her foot and is on a walker for the next 2 - 3 months ... fun times! I'll see her this weekend.

Here kitty kitty... Plans for tonight is the new water heater. Did not happen yesterday. SO got out of work early because of the heat and humidity. That is great news for him. It is awful out there. Dinner is up in the air, I think DD works so it will just be us and that will happen AFTER the water heater. tmarschall sorry for all the drama from your student, I hope it can be rectified quickly. cadoodlebug - I like grapefruit! And I just realized recently that it is not good for ones with high blood pressure. Boo! Speaking of stray cats and coyotes Last week, there were 2 mornings that I came across a coyote in our neighborhood. First time the dogs did not see it, but by the time we got to where it crossed the street, they could smell it. All hell broke loose with barking and hair standing up. Next time, they both saw it and started again to go nuts. The coyote turned and looked at us, but continued on. We have 2 stray cats and on my walks in the morning, sometimes I see them on the front stoop (2 different houses, those may be their "home"). Dogs never see them, but I do and they see us. LOL Hoping the coyote leaves them alone. I did see one of them this morning walking around so at least one is still around.

I’ve done some laundry, taken Walker for a walk and had a visit with my mom. Now I’m settled on the deck with my Pepsi Zero and a new book that I got yesterday at the sale. It’s a great day, cloudy with a lovely breeze.
I put some meatballs in the crock pot for DH but the sauce is a weird Morrocan sauce which I’m not sure he’s going to like. I will be having tuna on a bagel with a side of potato chips for supper as I don’t like meatballs.
Has anyone every ordered anything from Modlily online? They have some really cute bathing suits for reasonable prices but I’m not very trusting of online companies that I don’t know. Any feedback from this one?
Thinking today of those dealing with troublesome students, injuries, illness and new kitties!

Hey all - just keep swimming right? Been that kind of week. Hugs to all that need them. Exactly! Thanks for the support, friends. It's not my call to remove him from the program. The director could, but it's a process. Informal status meetings, a performance review. A plan. All I know is they better get on it quick bc he is NOT ready for his internship. And bless agency and clients alike, they are NOT ready for him, nor should they be. I once saw a TERRIBLE new grad/swker for a half minute long ago and luckily I was able to advocate for myself and change that situation. We shouldn't have to ask clients who are suffering to go through that. And we shouldn't graduate unhealthy students. Okay. More rant. My apologies in advance. It's just a rant. I'm not going to change how I treat anyone, which is to be kind and professional. I'm not going to let people or circumstances change me. But I am sick and tired of being nice to racists. I'm tired of censoring what I really want to say. Especially considering these people would be the first to call ME a snowflake or a libtard. I am careful not to react on social media and choose my words carefully, esp when they don't gaf who they offend. My role requires it and most of the time I just accept that. It is my job to help people grow and help them process challenges and insights that may be uncomfortable. But no one has ever talked anyone out of being a racist. Or personality traits that prevent them from functioning with others. If he was actually to get help for his anxiety it might make a huge difference. But he is determined to be a victim. Disenfranchised white guy syndrome. I'm tired of being professional, taking the high road, being the bigger person, "going high". I am TIRED, y'all. T-I-R-E-D. Whew. Anyone else? 🫨🤷♀️

Speaking of stray cats and coyotes As I was driving up the parkway to our house, I saw a large cat with strange markings. It looked at me then turned around and went back into the bushes. I'm pretty sure it was a young mountain lion. I do too although I don't buy it. My memes often don't actually reflect how I feel about something. I select them for their humor.

Unless that Bear was Yogi or Boo-Boo I would stay indoors, Darcy Collins . Though he's cute. I love bears. cadoodlebug , You might want to call animal control. They might be able to help the sweet little fella(J/K) back into an area that is safer for everyone. I don't like zoos, because I don't think that animals should be caged, but I don't like when predatory animals hang out in the front yard, either. If Mr. Kitty continues to hang out in my yard I might call a rescue and get some advice. I don't want kitty to starve, but I also don't want kitty to populate. There are no kill rescues here that can get kitty fixed. I never want to see any animal suffer or starving, but if the cat is feral then the kindest thing is to have it fixed and then released.
tmarschall, you are first and foremost, a human being. That you're being professional shows years of training. Still, therapists and social workers are not made of stone and people do affect you. Vent away. We're here to listen.
