Hello Fall! I love fall, unfortunately I don't get any here in Phoenix so I have to enjoy all the beautiful fall papers and embellishments. This month's SheetLoad is a 5x7 sketch its easy to use 6x6 papers instead of the 12x12. Here is the video with the free download youtu.be/JjxiTR8jFoA?si=xms7rf7i5KA8OfuGProcess video youtu.be/Gn_BzTeQpKs?si=dgcWzJyrMMX1uVhnLet's use some fall colors for the extra 10 points. Sketch make 12 cards = 120 points Plus the extra points for making and sharing.

Hey, azcrafty, if I were to decide that I didn't want to commit to a whole dozen 5x7s and could find a double-sided paper that worked, can I get half-credit for a half-sheet load?

Here is mine. I already had these card bases so it was a fast make. I did play with the focal point. Changed them up a little so they can look different. http://instagram.com/p/CwsW097LNgs

Cute cards! She's changing it up with 5x7's! She said it was the most requested alternative size. I’m not a fan usually, but I have a stash of charcoal 5x7 card bases and envelopes leftover from a project so I’ll find some paper to work with them. I’ll be happy to use them up!

BTW I have used up the paper pad that goes with that ephemera you used twice! I never had the die cuts, I got the 6x6 paper from Joann. Just loved the critters and gnomes. Your cards turned out very well

I’m on the fence with this one. I did find 3 dozen white A7 envelopes in my stash, but I love the Kraft or even off white vibe for fall. Christmas maybe? I guess I have a month to be struck by an inspiration. I left a dozen envelopes out.

azcrafty , as both our "local" SLoC "guru" and a SU demonstrator, you seem like the correct person to ask the following question of. Crafty Al fairly often demos a SLoC with a two-sided paper where the sides coordinate beautifully and she can use two of the same sheet or get twice the variation within the sheet load by switching side. I find it EXTREMELY difficult to find any SU DSPs where this trick works. Is this by design? Am I choosing the wrong ones or something? EtA: I guess "by design" makes it sounds like I am accusing them of intentionally UNcoordinating the two sides. I guess what I really mean is do they not intentionally design the two sides to coordinate or something like that....

Thanks, azcrafty, for the link to her videos and for sharing your own take on this card design. I have some fall bd cards to make, and I am loving the bright autumn colours. Also picked up a little fox die the last time I was at the LSS, planning to use him for a shaker Christmas card, and I am now--thanks to you--seeing that little guy on a fall card. Not today, but sometime this month...

To be honest with you I don't own lots of papers from them. I think they are expensive. And lots of times I like the A side but not B. With them everything could be by design. When this 2 sided patterned paper started I always laughed how the paper making company sells 1 sheet for double the price and you still just have one sheet to work with.

Funny. I generally like Joann better than Michael's for single sheets of card stock and patterned paper because they have a better selection (I have no local specialty retailers). Of the two, only Michael's has double-sided PPs and they don't charge more for them. I'm not sure I've ever bought DSP not on sale or as a Sale-a-bration freebie, so I probably have very little basis for griping. But by golly do I WANT to make them work! My younger child, who moved to campus Thursday, acted as my second pair eyes since I began this card making adventure. I'm feeling very needy without them here. Is this working? The background is an envelope, not a card base, so the white space won't be quite that wide, and the PP pieces are just placed on the mats, not adhered, but I figured it would be illustrative.

It looks good to me Shakti. I really love that flower pp. And remember by the time you add the focal point the background will be less striking.

Well, this sketch was demonstrated without a true focal point and I don't have a plan yet.... You might want to check out this video for an alternative to the half circle/sentiment strip. I wasn't a huge fan of those two elements as they were in the original sketch, but this video eliminates the half circle and uses some die cuts on an embossed panel instead, with ribbon for the horizontal band. Another CT member on YT used printed tags instead of the half circle and that looked good too. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUf5k5AxREY

I often take Crafty Al too literally, in the sense that she often skips a focal image and rarely do the rest of you and I end up feeling lame when I don't (bear with me, please, as I've acknowledged newly empty nest, very needy mom here).
Also, I don't know why I am making these cards. That is, I don't really send autumn or Halloween cards, but I did join the autumn swap. It generally wouldn't occur to me to do A7s for something like that, mostly because I don't write a long personal message inside.
My mother complained over the summer that her mini-slim all-occasion cards are sometimes too small; she wants more room to write on the inside. But I imagine she mostly means the sympathy and thinking of you sorts of cards need more space for a longer handwritten, well, letter essentially. Not sure this color scheme is right for that, but that was kind of what I was thinking when I decided to take a stab at it.
See?! Just kind of a mess right now....

grammadee great cards! Love all the cute stickers Shakti I think your colors would work perfectly as a thinking of you card or a big hello or hugs. You can always use a big flower or wreath for the circle and use a skinnier strip of paper with the sentiment stamped on it.

I'd like to play with this month's sketch, I bought SO many fall papers last year, and a lot of them are still here in my office . When I started card making last year I was such a soft touch when around PP, I've shown more restraint since then, but only after I stocked up on a ton of it this past spring. Oy! ANYHOW, I don't have any 5x7 bases or envelopes around so I want to do A2 size instead. Before I figure out new cuts, I am wondering if any of the designers happened to adapt the sketch for that size card? If so, could someone point me in that direction? Thanks either way.

MichyM, Alicia asked the DT not to alter the size because she already made a sketch for A2 size and she will release it in the future.

I think she usually releases a mid month video but looking at last month she didn’t show the adaptation for 6x6 paper until the 24th! I couldn’t really figure out why people needed instructions on that since that cutting guide was really obvious (to me) but anyway, hopefully she will share the A2 adaptation a little earlier.

She made it sound like that it will be a monthly sketch so I don't think she is going to make it into an A2 card. Probably she'll show how to use 6x6 papers to make the A7 size.

I guess I haven't shared the first test I did with the Sheetload yet, but I'll come back and do that soon! I made this set after watching the 2nd scenic version she did, using a fall rainbow paper I love but wasn't sure how to use. After I made the cuts, thinking I would keep it together like her 2nd set, I realized I could mix and match to get a bit of a rainbow on every card. That made me very happy since the rainbow was what I loved about this paper. I might add a little bit more to them, maybe some leaf die cuts, but for now I need to leave them like this: SLoC September by jo.blackford, on Flickr SLoC September by jo.blackford, on Flickr

I finished the rest of my cards today! It was a bit late to take a photo but I’ll share tomorrow. I made 6 in fall colors, 6 in greens. Should I take half of the bonus?

OK, here are the other Sheetload cards I made with the second sheet of 4 year old Pink Paislee paper I'd been afraid to cut into. I decided to do some with the b-side showing, and grabbed some stamped and cut Waffle Flower x Helen Dardik images, layered on vellum half circles, for half of them, Lovely Layers sunflowers in place of the half circle for the others. I got a woodgrain die recently so I used that to decorate the horizontal strip. Sept share by jo.blackford, on Flickr
