Today we are going to create a reflection on vellum. Stamp same image on paper than on vellum. You will have to heat emboss with clear on the vellum sheet to set the ink or use Stazon ink to skip this step. Flip the vellum upside down to create the reflection. I ink blended the sky and added a little more color to reflect my landscape. If you use a solid image you just need to inkblend the sky on the vellum. Used double sided adhesive sheet to adhere it to my card. The twist is to ink blend something. And a night time one with a silhouette stamp. Let's get crafty! Tagging grammadee.

I'm not sure I'm getting it, but let me try. Is the right-side up image stamped on a card stock panel and the upside-down image stamped right-side up on half a panel of vellum and then adhered to the bottom of the card stock panel upside-down?

I think this is one I need to have in my hands and work through, but I think the vellum piece is both upside down and also with the stamped image facing towards the paper. Flipped down along the horizon line… like a reflection I’m making hand gestures it’s harder to write about than to actually do I think! Very cool azcrafty!

Thank you everyone. I saw this technique in a video and I really like the effect and it's super easy. These are my failed cards. You want to make sure that everything lines up on a imaginary line where the vellum is glued down. My trees are too high and I didn't like the look thats why they are my failed ones. Here what I did I used a stamping platform to line up my stamps. And stamped a cs and vellum , with the deer I ended up heat embossing both pieces. For me it easier to cut the vellum at the reflection points than to try to line up the stamps perfectly and not waste vellum. And you just turn it upside down. I'm just showing you how you blend the cs and vellum. Than you turn the vellum upside down and using a double sided adhesive sheet you adhere it to the cs. Make sure that the reflection points line up. I hope this helps Shakti.

OK. I think I get the basics. And might have some stamps that will work.
The image stamped on the vellum needs to be emobossed so that you can ink blend over it, but the blending is ok "naked"? Or maybe just needs to be heat-set?

If you check out jjpeapea's beautiful card , you can see how she used a non silhouette stamp to create her card....her card is better than my example with the mountain landscape and lake- it just gets to busy. You can always use a row of trees to keep it simple. On the vellum you blend the ink on the side that you stamped and heat embossed, when you turn it upside down that inking is protected because that the side you glue against the cardstock.

I just used Memento black ink and let it dry the 4 hours I was at my volunteer job and eating lunch. My markers did not smear the Memento ink. I also let the marker ink dry before I put it on the card. Of course the frame is to hide the glue where I glued the vellum.

azcrafty and jjpeapea, your cards are beautiful! I do like the effect of this vellum technique. I used a heat gun to dry my black ink. I also sized mine as a card to fit a legal envelope, just based on my stamp. I used a stencil template for the clouds/sky. The upper area of the stamp was blank. I used Copics to color my image. I noticed they were more muted on the vellum, which was kind of cool and made it look more like a water reflection. Also, azcrafty, I am hoping you’ll have a technique that I can use on colored vellum. I used the last of my white/sheer vellum, but I have lots of colored vellum. No pressure if that isn’t going to fit what you’ve planned, though. Does anyone know if Michaels or Hobby Lobby sells vellum by the sheet?

Loving the different looks each person achieves! That little girl is darling, scrapnnana. And that duck looks so realistic, jjpeapea. Here is mine. Had trouble with the adhesive sheet so the vellum is not as smooth as I would like. Didn't have a filled in deer stamp like yours, azcrafty, so I used an outline stamp and coloured both the cs and the vellum. CARDtober #23 Reflecting ice by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

scrapnnana how adorable your card is, the little girl is so cute. Its a great stamp to use this technique with. Love the cloud stencilingand you matchedit up perfectlyin the reflection. Great job! The last challenge will be something that you can use colored vellum with, but just in case hobby lobby sells a pack of 10 and 25 and I know I got some ivory in the single, so they might have white too. grammadee your card is so cute. Adhesive sheets could be hard to adhere perfectly, but your looks like a little wave.

Thank you, grammadee and azcrafty, and Grammadee, your deer card is adorable! Thanks, AZCrafty, for letting me know where to get vellum, if I need white or cream. I think one of the biggest challenges I have with vellum is adhering it to a card. I often use brads, incorporating them into the design, but for my card, I tried my ATG, and it didn’t seem to show through, but this vellum scrap was thicker than most I’ve used in the past. What is the best glue or adhesive to use without it showing through?

scrapnnana I use adhesive sheets I bought them for this reason. I only use them if I can't hide the glue.

Indeed I am! I'm thinking my fog would look more like fog rising from the water's surface had I NOT masked the swan so effectively at the bottom. The fog should be present where swan and water meet. Part of me wants to try it and part of me is figuring that it's better than horrible now and what if I ruin it? On the other hand, it's going to my mother...she has to love it regardless, right EtA: Got brave this morning and did add a little more "fog"...I think I did manage to improve the situation. It always surprises me how differently than the eye the camera sees things. No longer sure it was an improvement, but it's not worse, either, I don't think: Mostly it seems to me that the Platinum Brilliance is too warm. I needed a cooler gray/white/silver to look foggier.
