Carpenter's Wheel by Brechbill Family From the Collection of Deborah Cooney Circa 1880s-1900s Silver Spring, Maryland 1858 Happy Hands by Unknown Maker From the Collection of Sharon Waddell Circa 1840-1870 New Windsor, New York Vintage 3D Sunflower/Dahlia Quilt by Unknown Maker; Quilted by Cathy Glover From the Collection of Cathy Glover Circa 1975 Earlville, Illinois It was a bit of a shock to see a quilt circa 1975 classified as vintage! That's the year I graduated high school! . In a first for me, it was interesting to see a quilt hanging made from Polyester double knit - the ubiquitous fabric of the 1970s. Makes me feel a bit better about the two polyester quilts in my collection (both made by DH's aunt).

Every Quilt Tells a Story (Continued): Grandmother's Flower Garden by Unknown Maker From the Collection of Carolyn Roller Miller Circa 1880 Fairview, Texas Original Design by Odie Wright Dover From the Collection of Roderick Kiracofe Circa 1960-1990 Petaluma, California "This quilt was found in Hale County, Alabama. It is an African American quilt with an old quilt or blanket used for batting. Cotton Blends, corduroy, upholstery fabric and a bedsheet were used in the construction." 1970-1980, A Decade of Firsts for Women by Unknown Makers From the Collection of Jodi Bratch Circa 1980 Belleair, Florida "This quilt was purchased at the 2021 American Quilt Study Group seminar's live auction. The quilt's blocks tell a story about the firsts for women during the 1970-1980 decade. Women fought for the legal rights of equality and recognition of achievements during the 1970s. Wonder wha tthe makers would think about the progress of women fifty years later. What would a women's group quilt look like today."

I am still looking through your later uploads but again, thank you. Such a wonderful showcase of so much talent.
I would love to know what the makers in “Every Quilt Tells A Story” would think of having their quilts on show to people all over the world!

WOW !! These are just gorgeous! I had no idea that quilts could be so intricately detailed! Are some of these hand-embroidered, and some from a machine? Either way, I can't imagine the time and skill it must take.

Are some of these hand-embroidered, and some from a machine? Yes and yes! Some hand embroidery, some machine embroidery. Then there are the thread painted quilts. There is just so much talent on show every year!

**GypsyGirl**There's one where it looks exactly like a PHOTOGRAPH of the beach (rocks and drift wood) ---what is that technique called? I can't see any type of stitching, so I'm very intrigued. Then there's that amazing lion's mane....there's a section that looks 3-D (as if they used faux fur) and/or also like a photograph. I would just walk around with my jaw on the floor at this event!
