We have a drive-in on the island, run by a family. They have always run a theater that caters for families, keeping admission and food prices reasonable. It is a fun night, especially in early summer when the weather is clear.
I was just looking to see what is playing. Their coming attractions list so many sequels! Like, some are in three or four deep! I can count the number of movie sequels I thought were any good on one hand. So we just keep regurgitating stories? Is there no creativity left?
I haven't been to an indoor theater for a movie since before covid. DH and I were avid movie-goers pre-children. I always thought we'd pick that up again after our nest was empty. Hmmmmm, not so much.

Tubi did a poll and found that 74% of millennials and Gen Zers show a preference for original content over franchises and remakes.
I totally agree with the remakes but I do like some franchises if the stories are fresh and not remake of the previous movies with some changes.

Here, too. We watch lots of documentaries and indie films.

My husband has the same opinion as OP. He talks about it when there are movie trailers for sequels. Ugh! I don’t pay much attention to the movies. I figure someone must be going to see them or they wouldn’t be making them.
