Non Fiction
The Wager by David Grann. The Wager tells the story of the shipwreck in 1742 of a British ship on a secret mission to capture a Spanish ship laden with treasure. The Wager wrecked on an island off the coast of Patagonia. Six months later a rag tag group of thirty survivors on a raft washed up on the shores of Chile. They returned to England as heroes. Then a few months later, a group of three survivors washed up in Chile, claiming that the other thirty survivors were not at all heroes, but were actually mutineers. The group of thirty claimed that the other group were murderers. A trial was held in England to sort things out.
The Art Thief by Michael Finkle The Art Thief is truly one of those stranger than fiction true stories about a man and his girlfriend who walked into museums all over Europe and walked out with millions of dollars worth of art works. The story of how they were finally caught is fascinating. It’s a fast and very entertaining read.
Fiction
Demon Copperhead by Barbera Kingsolver Demon Copperhead is a modern day retelling of David Copperfield.

Eyre, Eric -- Death in Mud Lick Joy, David -- The line that held us Mukherjee, Siddhartha -- The Emperor of all Maladies
I want to read more of David Joy's books, but my want to read list is also a mile long. 😄

Goodreads tells me I've read 73 books this year. Of that, only two were five stars... Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano Tom Lake by Ann Patchett (Meryl Streep's narration of the audiobook may have had a bit to do with this .)

I have 15 in my favorites, but here are my top five:
5. Those We Thought We Knew by Joy: Theme of racism. So powerfully done. 4. Go as a River by Read: Absolutely loved this. Again, themes of racism. 3. The Covenant of Water: This is brilliant. 2. All that Is Mine I Carry with Me by Landay: Such a genius book told in several POVs at several times. And that ending. Oh my! 1. All the Broken Places: Simply stunning.

That main character isn't very bright and walks into every predictable disaster! Oh no! I can’t wait to see how this plays out for me! 🤣 I’m only on chapter four and I’m all in right now. Sometimes that happens though—love the start and then it fizzles. I’ll update when I finish.

I loved the Guncle by Stephen Rowley, while I enjoyed The Celebrants the Guncle was better. Maybe because it was so unexpected. highly recommend any of his stuff.
I really enjoyed Arnold Schwarzenegger's Be Useful. He reads the audio, and while I'm not an audio book person normally come on it's Ahnold. I found it resonated with me, but I'm in a place of re-evaluation and his message of create the vision and work your butt off to achieve it was what I needed to hear.
I admit to reading Britany Spears memoir, it was trashy. Jessica Simpson's memoir however is excellent and honestly worth your time to read.

I have seen many people recommend this book and I thought the same thing! It sounds like the oddest book ever. ! It hasn’t appealed to me at all. I just can’t bring myself to start this one either. It’s an upcoming book club choice and many people love it but I might have to skip next month’s book club meeting because there are so many other books I would rather read If it’s not too late, listen to the audiobook (Remarkably Bright Creatures— the quote cut off the actual title). I really enjoyed the story, but the narration of the octopus is hilarious. I was really surprised with how much I loved this book. I only listened to it because it was recommended here. I want to come back and add some of my favorites and look through other lists when I have more time, but I wanted to add this comment before I forgot.
