I’m trying really hard to make sure my son’s girlfriend of 5 years (they’re 22) feels like part of the family so I want her to have multiple things to open. She had a stocking here as well. But I’m stumped on gift ideas for her. I’ve asked both her and him (he says gas or grocery gift cards, which I’ll stick one in her stocking) and gotten no where.
Some little things I’ve gotten so far (not things she’s asked for so hoping for the best)
Pura vida bracelet set
Pajamas & cute socks (the whole family is getting these, not matching)
Stasher bags (she asked for these last year, I figure a couple new ones wouldn’t hurt)
A little lotion & soap from Buff City (all natural which I know is strongly her preference)
Aside from a couple sweaters or something I’m stumped. I’d like to get her 1 or 2 more substantial items totaling maybe $100 give or take. Ideas?

I am giving my ddil a Morphe eyeshadow pallet and a purple comfy...
I am giving my daughter a giant stock pot with some kitchen towels, a pot holder, several pasta boxes and sauces.. also giving a grocery store gift card

Truthfully, for a 100.00 (I consider that a pretty substantial amount), if she is a young person that is trying to provide for herself I would rather give her grocery or gas cards as suggested. I think it would be more beneficial than to be hit or miss with other presents.
I would just find ways to creatively wrap it. Like wrap a bag of her favorite candy with it taped on to the back. Or a small framed favorite picture with her and your son and/or family and it included with that.
If she is not having to worry about money how about something for a hobby. Or if she likes to cook a couple of pieces of okay. Cook or bakeware. An okay knife.

She lives alone in an apartment about a block from where ds lives (also alone). Im sure she has a keurig and probably not much space, I do like the idea of a tool kit though. |

I wouldn't give her an appliance she may not need. You can wrap up gift cards in a box. I know they're not as fun to give, but especially now, they're very helpful.

My older daughter is giving her sister (21) an Instamax camera. She has one and loves it. They are on sale at Target this week and you could include a pack of film with it.

What are some of her hobbies? Is she a student? Does she work? DS ordered these for his gf (22). They were on her Amazon wish list - Slippers
What about a pampering basket? Things she can pamper herself with. I got some of these under eye masks. I'm trying to decide if I give them all to DD or split them in mine and her stockings.
DD (19) is an architect major and works long hours in studio. She asked for over the head noise canceling headphones so that when she's in the zone and has them on, people know she doesn't want to be bothered. I got her these. I got her these to jazz them up.
I got both DD and DS robes. I actually bought DD's last year and wanted to get her initial embroidered on it and never did. So I saved it for this year. My sil asked for a weekender bag. I got her this one |

Unless you 100% know her personal style, do not buy her sweaters....signed, someone who never wore the sweater given to her by her future in-laws.
Check with your son about some of the suggested ideas--tools, kitchen items, mani/pedi/massage gift cards. Otherwise at 22 I would have loved to get gift cards for groceries, gas, etc.

What are some of her hobbies? Is she a student? Does she work? She’s a student (I think 1 more year then onto her masters, accounting major) and she works from home with an accounting firm on and off (depending on their needs and her schedule). |

My mom a few years ago put together a snack bag for everybody. She had the best time going to the store and getting all their favorites. I plan on doing it for her for my kids this year. She’s in a nursing home and can’t go shopping herself. But this will be from her. Maybe something like that?

What kinds of things does she like to do on her time off when she’s not at work or school? I’d start there. Does she like to read, go to movies/watch streaming subscriptions, work out/exercise, have hobbies, shop?
And I will agree with whoever said they never wore anything their in-laws gave them. Same here, mine never gave me the right size and never included a gift receipt so all of it ended up being donated. Unless you know the exact size, color and style she likes I’d pass on the sweaters.

One more. If she drinks, what about a mini bar in a jar? DS did this last week for a white elephant exchange and it was a hit.

I think clothes are ok if you generally know where she likes to shop, included a gift receipt and clearly express that if it doesn't work for her to please exchange it. This is how my MIL has always given clothes and it works well for us.

DS and his GF are 23. She just moved in with him. He's in a TINY apartment and has a roommate as well. So, I was trying to think of what to get them as they don't need stuff. I ended up making a Shutterfly calendar of the 2 of them. Maybe something like that?? I also bought them a whole bunch of gift cards. I'm putting them in a small photo album with notes like "when you feel like something cheesy" and then a pizza gift card. DD's boyfriend is getting a Shutterfly blanket with their photos on it.

I bought my DD and my DS's girlfriend a snow globe "surprise" from Ulta. There is a bunch of trial beauty products in there. I tried to find them on the website but nothing comes up, but if you can find them in the store, maybe something like that plus a gift card(s) inside? You can't see what's inside bc its full of shredded paper. I just thought it was fun.

I would get the gift cards. Thinking if my DD, who is similar in age and natural products are important to her too, she doesn’t like a lot of extra stuff. Gifts need to be practical or very specific to her hobbies or interests. She appreciates gift cards or experiences.

Does she have a car? These are my go to gifts this year:  They are small batteries, but enough power to jump start a car. Depending on the amperage you get, most can start a car many times over, before needing a charge. They can also charge cell phones and other devices, and many have a built in flashlight. Easy to use, and pretty foolproof. Even if you are not familiar with jump starting - these are easy to use. Easy and fast UBS chargers to recharge them. My husband has a couple of the really large amp ones to start massive tractors with, and they are small enough to pickup in your hand. He says everyone should have one of these. Be careful purchasing gift cards as some have been used already. Buy at a place like Costco where they bring them out from a back room then activate them

I saw a newsblurb where people were stealing the gift cards - opening them up to get the activation code, the resealing them to look like they were never opened. Then, when purchased, the card was activated and they had the numbers off them so they could then spend them. Something about they would run the gift card numbers through a couple times a day to see if they had been activated. So you don't want to grab a gift card that has been hanging out in the open! |
