Hi everyone! I didn't meet my mum for breakfast today ... we both felt too lazy to go! I'm actually going to the retirement residence for dinner tonight ... they are serving roast beef and Yorkshire Pudding! Yum!!! Molly, Emma and I went to see The Nutcracker last night ... sooooo good! We went to a great restaurant afterward ... I had oysters! Yay! Here we are in our awesome seats: No plans today ... a bit of laundry maybe ... then going to my mum's for dinner ... What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

leannec you’re all beautiful!! Dinner is going to be pork chops, pierogies and a vegetable. We’ve been struggling with meal ideas. I want to bake cookies and make fudge. I’m afraid if I bake cookies I’ll eat way too many of them.

I'm just getting ready to hit the shower. Chloe and I are going this afternoon to see the symphony's Holiday Pops concert. I'm going to wear my nice Christmas dress so I've got to shave my jungle legs. Lol! The concert is at three and then we will go out to dinner. I'm thinking Italian. Chloe will probably be on board with that. Either that or she will want sushi. We are celebrating one year of sobriety today for her. I am so proud.

We’ve had a lovely day. Sophia’s godmother has been in Munich since Friday afternoon and we finally got to catch up with her today - she did an excursion down to Neuschwanstein Castle yesterday. We picked her up from her hotel on our way to church and dropped her near the cathedral as she wanted to go to Mass there. We went to our regular church as I had my Communion class to teach. We met up again after church at one of the Christmas markets, had Glühwein and spit-roast pork in a bun for lunch then wandered around a few of the markets until it was time for DH to drive her out to the airport. Dinner tonight will be bratwurst with the rest of the pasta bake from last night. leannec - have you heard from your friend since yesterday? Is she OK? jeremysgirl - enjoy your concert. Congrats to Chloe for one year sober.

Happy Sunday!
I'm relaxing around the house this morning. I've got an extended family Christmas party at 2 today so I made some buffalo chicken rollups for that. The party will be my dinner most likely. I'll need to pop out and see my parents sometime today.
I got a little frustrated with my mom yesterday. I was doing things during the day and planned to see her in the evening after I got back from shopping/dinner with my sisters. She called and left me a message saying she hadn't seen me for a few days and wondered if I was coming by. I called her back and informed her that I had seen her every day for the past week and a half! From the hospital to the rehab facility. I've taken her lunch every day she's been there. Sometimes, it's just never enough with her and it makes me feel that what I do isn't good enough. I'm sure I'll stop by and see her today although I'm a little resentful.
Oh well, things could be worse!

We are celebrating one year of sobriety today for her. I am so proud. Yay! Congratulations to Chloe!!! leannec - have you heard from your friend since yesterday? Is she OK? She texted me last night ... first time was while she obviously had forgotten that I had stopped over - tried to blame her illness on Covid! Second time was after her other friend that also stopped over spoke to her and told her we were there ... she apologized for making me worry ... whatever. I didn't respond ... I'll see what happens today ... I'm really angry ...

We walked this morning so I'll spend the rest of the day finishing up with my decorations. I also need to finish some journaling on DS's album that I worked on at the crop. I'll give the album to him for Christmas but I won't let him take it home yet. Still lots to do. I've gotten up to 18 months. I'm going to hit Raley's for a major shop since it's supposed to start raining this afternoon through at least Wednesday. I'm glad I finished my gift shopping. Dinner will be what I decide while at Raley's. ETA: Congrats to Chloe, that is a great accomplishment jeremysgirl !

Tearisci. Any chance your mom has a little bit of dementia if she didn’t remember that you were there? There’s a couple of times my mother has repeated the same story to me or not known we’ve talked about some stupid little subject and instead of correcting her, I’m just like oh yeah, let me tell you.

Wow! Tearisci your mom is *something*. My mom is living on her own now without a partner and I thought she was demanding of my time. 😂 If your dad passed away before her you are going to have your hands full.

leannec, that's a lovely photo of you and your girls. Such, pretty ladies. You know to set boundaries w/your friend. It's hard to do so, but it is for her own good and your peace of mind. You have every right to feel anger. Don't be afraid to let her know. She needs a wake up call. jeremysgirl, you photo from yesterday was something I look fwd to every year. That table full of goodies is just amazing. Congratulations to Chloe. Enjoy the symphony and dinner. She absolutely deserves to be celebrated. KelleeM, perhaps you could bake after lunch when you're full and not as hungry? sueg, sounds like a very nice, but busy day. Tearisci, your mom is not completely herself right now. We were convinced that mil was trying to gaslight us. Your mom's behavior is normal under the circumstances. She's out of her comfort zone and probably a bit confused. ((((HUGS)))). It's more of the same over here. I'm feeling same and just waiting for tmw and hopefully some help to feel better. I really want to do my baking, but I have no energy. WAAAAH? I'm not sure what to make for dinner. Dinner is a lentil soup from the freezer that I made and froze for days like this. Dh will have a salad, as well. He's having fried rice for lunch, so a carb free dinner is on the menu.

Last night we went to the local brewery to celebrate my brothers 60th birthday. The was another party there as well so the place was packed. DH had a few drinks and we ate some pizza, but we were home by 8:30 pm.
It’s been raining here all day so it’s a good day to relax. I’ve done some laundry but now on the couch with my book.
I’ve got an issue with my hand. It’s been very sore since yesterday. Not sure what is wrong with it because I didn’t hit it or anything. The soft tissue is very sore. I’ve had cellulitis in my foot twice and it kinda feels like that. I’ve iced it a few times today but it still feels the same. So weird.
No grilling for supper tonight because of the rain so I’ll have to come up with something else.

Happy Birthday to your brother, taylortroop. Keep icing your hand and hopefully, it'll be much better, quickly. Are there any signs of a bug bite?

I think that could be part of it but she has a history of doing this over the years. If I visited with her for an hour, she'd be disappointed that it wasn't and hour and a half. I do call her out on it because it upsets me because I do so much for her and my dad. I'm taking the morning to just relax and may see her later but I'm sure not looking forward to it.

Tearisci, put your oxygen mask on first. Since your mom has a history of this behavior then don't cave. She will be fine if you don't jump at her command. Yes, she's complain and try to give you a guilt trip, but you know that. So, set your expectations accordingly and take care of your needs.

Tearisci, perhaps you could have a journal for people to print in when they have been there. My mother in law was getting forgetful when she was in the nursing home. The nurses could 5hen read to her as to who had been to visit.

leannec what a great picture of you and your daughters. jeremysgirl enjoy your time with Chloe. I'm still tired from last night so I have no plans for today except to watch football. Hubby did a load of laundry and that's all that will be done today. For dinner we are ordering something in.

Congrats to her for her achievement, and congrats to you for surviving the journey. Tearisci, I’m sorry your mom is giving you trouble. This is a difficult stage of life for everyone involved. Hugs to you.

Dinner is some kind of rice and chicken thing. I'm working on some Christmas gift crafty projects and and I'm really tired. My back is *still* not feeling great, with pain off and on depending on how I move. And forget about trying to lay down to sleep (hence the tiredness). I may have to call my doctor tomorrow and/or take time from work to go in to be seen. (There's a small chance I could have a UTI...ugh. So I'll have to get that checked.) I finished shopping except for DH and he is notoriously hard to buy for. He usually gives me a few suggestions, but this year he has just said something non-committal when I ask. We'll see... jeremysgirl , congratulations to Chloe and enjoy your celebratory dinner this evening. What a grand accomplishment for her and you can all be proud of her hard work. ETA: leannec, great picture! Looks like you are had a fun time.

We just got home from DH family Christmas. It was a really nice day. DH oldest brother announced his engagement. When his wife died of cancer six years ago he said he would never date, let alone get married. He started dating this lovely person a little over a year ago. I am so happy for both of them. Today was MIL birthday so we celebrated that as well. I did all my grocery shopping for Christmas yesterday. All I will need to do is get fresh produce at the end of the week. I am so glad to have that done. Now I need to figure out when I will get the house cleaned. It’s going to be long days at the office this week. That is a great picture of you and your girls leannec. Congratulations to Chloe on her sobriety jeremysgirl. Tearisci I am sorry you are having to deal with your mom’s expectations. Hugs. We are still stuffed from our lunch so we might nibble on something later but not fixing a meal.

Thanks, everyone - I took a break today and stayed with my dad for dinner and part of the Cowboys game. I needed a break and I'll be back into helping mode for Mom tomorrow. Her expectations are so hard to reach, but I'll take it that she just misses me. We have a tough relationship and the slight bit of dementia doesn't help. I wish I had more patience but it's not a virtue I was dealt in life although I'm trying!
